Revert brother here, 100% agree with the story shared in the video here. There's enough negative propaganda against us already and these 'dawah' channels really don't help the majority of the time due to their behavior and character. It irritates me to even call it 'dawah.' What they are doing is debating and being raucous, something for which God has not sent down any authority. The moment you speak from your own views, instead of what God and His Messenger have said, that’s not dawah; you deviate from the essence of dawah. What’s maddening is that some newly reverts without knowledge jump on the bandwagon and start debate channels _ it's apparently a trend for views 🤦🏻♀️
I think born Muslims need to be more aware of how non-Muslims perceive Islam, and put themselves in their shoes. Would these brothers be even interested in Islam if the person who was giving dawah was acting like they do?
Yeah this is a lot more common than we think. My father was similar because he looks at bad examples of young muslims and. Caused problems for me. Alhamdulillah he never disowned me. May Allah grant this person sabr and may Allah open his family's hearts and even guide them to Islam. I hope they have a change of heart soon bc disowning someone bc of yt channels is ridiculous
I’m a born Muslim and I struggle with deen. I just stopped watching and unsubscribed from these dawah channels, it seems to be getting very gossipy and lack manners.

When Muslim women have been saying Muslim male online behaviour is absolutely damaging and ego driven 😢 nobody cared. But apparently these ppl are supposed to be protectors 😂
As a Muslim woman, I noticed I am watching much fewer Muslim videos bc it seems to always be about the evil of feminists and women who work or educate themselves or speak, etc. They shame women who come in a video even if properly covered.
I am one of those females that has been calling out their behavior and reminding them us sisters are the targets for stuff they might be doing. I got called a crazed feminist for it.
We should also not forget the commenters on the Dawah channels; there is a lot of mockery and sarcasm towards non-Muslims. While the commenters might feel excited because Muslims have the upper hand in discussions with non-Muslims, it does not justify treating non-Muslims with mockery and sarcasm, especially since this is not in line with the teachings of Islam. [Al-Ḥujurāt, 11]
These comments will not support Dawah's efforts on social media.
In addition, many Dawah channels use provocative titles that do not support Dawah, such as “Christian Schooled,” “Hindu Grilled,” “Jewish Put-Back in his Place,” and similar titles. These titles will mainly attract subscribers, not non-Muslims.
I am sure everyone agrees that our faith emphasizes respect and understanding toward everyone, regardless of their beliefs, without compromising our beliefs. The commenters should help Dawah by replacing the negative comments with positive ones. Adopting a more respectful tone will better represent Islamic values and foster a more positive and constructive dialogue. This way will attract non-Muslims instead of just satisfying subscribers.
Yes I noticed especially after the conversations are over and they do a monologue, there is must sarcasm and belittling after and that's not cool. Especially because what if that person was convinced and they thought about becoming Muslim but then they watch the ending when they go home and get hurt by those statements.

Someone with some reach needs to call them out at some point, why not you? You have the capacity to speak in a diplomatic and clear manner while always referencing the sunnah and Quran. The people you are dealing with behave very arrogant and they are causing massive damage.

The reason why many like me and others do not call out on such brothers is because we think: “Well how can i call out on these brothers when we are not doing anything regarding dawah. Atleast they are doing something”. Nevertheless wrong is wrong. May Allah keep you strong on calling out for what is right.

Unfortunately the ones who need to see this might not think it pertains to them. My husband is a da'ee and he has the gentlest, kindest approach, and I think that stems from him being a convert and understanding the mentality and background of his culture. Unfortunately as well, it is difficult for those of us who grew up muslim (especially the men) to see things from the non-muslim or convert lens. They can't see how their behavior reinforces the "muslims are barbarians" stereotype, maybe because they grew up in such a way that they are unaware of the generations of public perception and brainwashing about Islam and Muslims. Either way, their behavior is unacceptable and the reason they don't see it that way is because they've always gotten away with treating others like that, without anyone ever telling them they're wrong. (And maybe because the people around them never saw it as wrong). Ego, "manliness", likes and subscriptions, etc. it all comes into play, and over the years it is starting to appear as if a certain number of these "Dawah" characters almost enjoy the drama and attention. I rarely ever see someone actually taking their shahada in their videos. Just lots of arguing. Allahu Allam.

I really appreciate this video as a Christian starting to explore Islam. I had been following a bunch of these channels, but I kept seeing titles like “Christian gets schooled by Muslim” or “Evil Christian doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” They felt so aggressive that I lost interest in supporting them. I was genuinely enjoying the content, but it seemed like they cared more about getting views than having meaningful conversations. The focus on insults and humiliation just didn’t sit right with me.
As a Muslim, I too had a time where I wouldn’t watch them cuz the title felt too aggressive and humiliating to those people who most of the time are genuine or are actually questioning things. Whenever I commented about the behavior/title, I always get people telling it’s fine and making fun of the people in the vids. However, I want you to know that not everyone is like that and I’ve seen many call out those channels and the fans cuz it can push others away from Islam. If you haven’t already, I recommend the Muslim lantern - he’s always calm and articulate his points with evidence. Please don’t let those people/channels push you away!
It's videos like this that we watch when we take a step back and evaluate what our ummah have been doing. Turns out, some of us have been offending people left and right, trying to spread the message.

Thank you brother for bringing this up. I have been trying to call out dawwah brothers for months now. It was because of their behavior and information that I got confused about certain things about Islam. There needs to be a base as to how to do dawwah and how to privately deal with issues within communities. Not bring those fights to the public. May Allah forgive me for thinking this but it makes me wonder about the intentions of the dawwah people. They let their bravado and ego get the better of them. They also forget that sometimes your intentions might have been good. But sometimes even the way in which we do good might not actually be good. I know what it means to let your anger get the better of you so I have been working hard to manage it. You can't go lecturing others unless you have dealt with your own issues first. That's my opinion at least.
As a revert, watching Dawah bros helped solidify my believe in islam but was not an influence on my initial conversion at all.
Knowledge precedes speech and action. Da'wah to Allaah Almighty requires knowledge, not entertainers, influencers, philosophers, or other ignoramuses who did not study the religion from the scholars upon the sunnah.

Key thing is videos of students of knowledge get less views and there are scholars and learned people but sadly they don’t garner the same attention and followership.Its a fitnah.There is a terrible attitude of if you can’t beat them join them when it comes to some dawah channels in their attempts to reach the youth and compete with less Islamic content and that can lead to a debasement of manners and lead to a watering down of the knowledge in order to appeal and seem relatable.No one came to the deen because it was similar to what was on offer they can to it because it was distinct and true.And Allah knows best.Ultimately I think chasing views and doing things for the content and clicks has caused this.Which is being lapped up by many hence the views.Maybe some think it really is dawah and think their getting their daily dose of ‘Islamic’ news when it’s anything but.All that to say may Allah guide us all.

Beside people like Daniel who loves to debate on “morality” and is okay with listening to people slandering our prophet so that he can respond back with “this is in the Old testament”. True however if the family doesn’t know any Muslims and only see those misbehaving Muslims, they would think either everyone is like that or that behavior is okay but they don’t want their child to be associated with that behavior. My parents also disowned me just for converting, but not because of the dawah channels. It doesn't take much of an excuse for disbelieving parents to revile or harm you.
Respectfully, would you please provide evidence that insulting or backbiting a harbi, or enemies of Islam is haram across the board? Because according to opinions I've read from Al-Ghazali and others, this is permissible. If it's a difference of opinion, I don't believe you can accuse a dawah channel of behaving like shaytaan.

You have to give dawah and naseeha with hikmah. Insulting others doesn't help with the perception of Muslims - you may say why should we care how they perceive us? Well because there are ample examples in history of people coming to Islam purely because of the good character of the Muslims they encountered. We don't let people of bad character drag us down to their level - if you cannot deal with them with hikmah (knowing millions are watching) it's better to ignore them completely and leave it to someone who can.
P.S. The impact of your words are vastly different when you have an audience of millions and you are possibly going to be clipped and taken out of context. I wouldn't know for sure but I think Al-Ghazali would have treated the Internet differently to real life.

I see lots of youtube muslims police the speech of convert Muslims and sharing their opinion if he can / still deserve to be in the community and should better be ousted or kicked out. Its very ism'ish'' to see what a humuliating process one needs to undergo to become accepted

This is no reason to criticize the dawah channels, to be honest. Converts have also had difficult times with their families when there were no dawah channels. What I have noticed lately is that there are white converts who blame non-white Muslims for their problems. It seems like they bring their “white people are special” mentality with them even after they become Muslims, and expect non-white Muslims not to voice their experiences of racism and hatred from white people because that’s “anti-Dawah”
Exactly. Using the supposed bad actions of some popular dawah channels is such an amazingly lame copout. So if an idi0t comes and tries to start something, the dawah brothers just have to take it? They can't respond in kind? I categorically reject that notion.
And I've been saying for years that we should avoid at all costs putting yt reverts on some special pedestal, or begging certain types of people to convert to point where we preemptively call them brother or sister, or flood their comments just because they said something nice about Islam. There is EVERY reason to criticise the dawah channels. I don't know how old you are but anyone who has followed the dawah scene for approx ~10-15 years can attest to the general degradation of sincerity, akhlaq and wisdom. It also only seems to be getting worse - it is incumbent upon those who know better to call it out.

I think it's different when the family mentions the dawah channels. The dawah channels, at least, gave them fuel for their hostility.
And as for converts having a supposed superiority complex, I haven't seen it. If you could point it out, go ahead. But from what I've seen, converts will either do one of two:
1. Absorb themselves fully into a culture from a Muslim-majority nation
2. Combine aesthetics normally associated with Muslims into their own culture, bringing forth a new culture that is simultaneously and clearly Muslim and European.
One random dude online thinking oddly doesn't mean all converts think like that.
My biggest fear for non-muslims are stumbling accross Daniel, Ali, and friends who debates without wisdom.
These are genuine questions and i in no way intend this to be discrespectful. Where in the Quran does it say that music is banned, Dancing is banned and people should be stoned to death for apostacy?
31:6 refers to music, as per the tafsir. Dancing is often related to music and can easily lead to fahisha (immorality). And apostasy is obviously a major sin since it's literally disbelief, just like treason is a major sin in the eyes of worldly governments. Apostasy per se isn't what warrants capital punishment; it's the blasphemy that often is associated with it that does. And Allah knows best.
