    All these years and I never realised that Sesame Street was the greatest television programme ever made.

    So wonderful...especially for this Gen-X'er. What a remarkable time to have been alive. Much simpler times - not better or worse - just simpler. Watching a young Jesse Jackson talk to those kids... and I was their age, maybe a little younger.

    Sesame Street is a seminal and legendary show, but just one word of advice to Screen Media Films: Sesame Street was viewed across the globe. A theatre or on demand release should not be exclusive to North America. Some of us around the world would willfully give up their cookies to watch this!

    "I saw it as a political show."
    I totally agree. The best way to be political is to practice and uphold the values you believe in.

    I wish they could also make a Sesame Street movie where Oscar is the villain (because he pretty much hates everyone)

    Sesame street helped raise me, together with my parents it was the perfect co parenting....I learned right from wrong, compassion and understanding of other races, different beliefs, various cultures and most important respecting all others, this generation surely lacks those principles, not saying our generation was perfect but mio dios some youths today 🤐 no further comment....Es una vergüenza

    This whole street game brand is distressing to me. The children of Joe raposo and Jim Henson speak about their fathers working on their show for days on end as though it made them bad fathers, as though the demands on them in connection with the show set them up to be bad fathers, and I'm sure that if the children were in tune with the kinds of people their fathers were, their particular situation, how they really felt, they would know that their fathers loved them and they would be understanding. The Nuance of the particularity of that is not put across in the film; care was not taken to convey that aspect of the perspective they themselves were at least likely to have had given their own awareness of the situation. The right kind of care was not taken in order to ensure that the audience could see this, too. In the same vein, if you really think about who the people discussed in this film were in light of who they actually were and what they did as themselves, it's kind of hard to believe other people's accounts of doing zany, crude, and antisocial things; it's to the point where it becomes clear that in some cases, people put themselves in a bad light, or otherwise misrepresent the perceptions of others. All of that makes the Street Gang brand come off as messily on film as it does in print.

    How the F$#@ is this a political show?????? Maybe now it is, but back then (from when it piloted till about a decade ago) it has always perfectly distilled the innocence, simplicity and the best aspects of the time. Please don't politicise Sesame Street.

    • @blurblarted
      @blurblarted 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      what are you talking about, back in the day simply having black adults interacting with your child through the television screen was enough to raise concern from middle america. It was political in how it normalized the integration of different races and ethnicities for children, definitely political

    • @TyrekeCorrea
      @TyrekeCorrea 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's more political now than it ever has been. It's on a streaming service; you can only watch Sesame Street now if you can afford it and have the equipment to use it, and Sesame Street itself has become astonishingly exclusive. Politics is all about controlling who gets access to resources.
