Half of me feels it's a missed opportunity to have the model animated the other half and thinks it's a little funny for the model to not be animated. I also feel that in the 8-Bit sections they could've used the small 8-Bit Mario instead of Big 8-Bit Mario. But I can see why they chose not to do any of those things.
They could have at least added 8 bit sound effects like an 8 bit jump sound or something...
Or they just to busy working on Smash Brothers ultimate
The entire costume isn't supposed to have animations or anything, it's a joke.

Alpha Doge They wanted to make an 8-bit costume, but then they realised they’d have to make a seperate model for each and every frame of animation used in-game so they said fuck it and used the jump sprite.

@@x-x8193 oh, well in that case there is a picture mode to take some good pictures. And there are filters one being an NES filter giving it a blocky old school look of the NES. Wearing this suit while doing so. Looks almost too accurate

Honestly, when I initially saw the leak for this, I thought the execution could have been nearly flawless. Had Nintendo recreated the small amount of frames the original Mario bros had in 3d form this would have been the case. I am pretty disappointed with this “dlc” as it seems to have little to no effort put into it besides the one frame for Mario’s original jumping animation, overall not something I thought Nintendo would miss out on. I personally don’t suggest this costume at all as (unless you are a die hard original Mario fan) this costume will not please you. Before I end off this comment I would like to add that this is my opinion and hopefully will not discourage anyone in anyway.
Edit: honestly, could you imagine a fully animated pixel Mario costume? With a walking animation and everything? It would be much better imo.

Totally agree. Honestly, I looked up the fastest ways to get 9999 coins and when I grinded for an HOUR AND A HALF to get something so disappointing, I damn near never picked up the game again. It just seems really lazy on their part. I figured it'd be something cool like the 64 costume set, but it's just a goofy-ass jump animation that looks ridiculous and isn't that funny to look at in all honesty. If they made it like 1985 coins (release date of Super Mario Bros) I would've seen that as being more feasible, since it wouldn't be such a grind for something that was such a let down.

I just noticed one mistake on the costume. The left side has a black pixel under the eye but on the other side, it doesn’t.
They're Nintendo. They know how to do it, but they would have to make new animation mechanics for this costume alone, and I guess they didnt wanna waste time on that.

The costume having no animation is most likely just supposed to be funny, or to stay true to the classic feel of the costume. But I agree, I think animation would look cool with costume.
