Like most of this album, I feel this is an okay song. And also like so many songs from it, it feels to me like a bunch of good ideas that wasn't spent to much time on connecting together right. I've no idea if this is the case, and I'm no musician. That's just how it feels to me.
Honest opinion: out of all the albums In Flames has released, you chose to listen to the worst. Would love to see you reacting to the whole The Jester Race album like you did with Reroute to Remain, love your content and again, this is just my opinion
Wallflower is a good song, but like 90% of the rest of this album is very pop metal, with some nice riffs buried under some of it, otherwise it's their weakest album, and maybe the only album I basically never come back to out of IF's discog.
@@blazakinAX I think switching to Howard Benson made this album the wreck that it is. I believe people from his team tried to help songwriting. Someone said I The Mask moved away from that, but you'd have to look at the wiki. Either way, the change made the production sound weird, almost inorganic. Drums sound like a bad vst drumkit. Anders has technically improved his vocals but the notes he hits and the way he sings on the album is super obnoxious. Too much auto tune. Whatever decisions that were done in the songwriting turned potentially good songs into gut churning pop metal sounding music. Like, if you took The End and made it heavier and took away all the stupid shit, it could be an amazing song. There's parts that remind me of say, Embody The Invisible. In the end, too much stupid shit going on in the songs that are a major turn off.
The album translate so much better live. It still isnt all winners by any means but I saw them on the touring cycle for this album and was pleasantly surprised how much more I enjoyed the songs from this album live. The production is the biggest downfall of this album. Everything is almost muted. Comes across much heavier live
@@intoxicationgaming2394 There's a lot that can be great on Battles if it was reworked but the entirety of it has awful production and weird songwriting choices that ultimately make it sound like a hollow and uninspired pop metal album. I wouldn't be surprised if live versions sound better since it's just them playing and it doesnt have the weird production and awful autotune vocals.
