Part of the problem I've had in the past was my neighborhood started looking to me as their backup for supplies if they had any problems. Sorry I'm not a storage center for the apocalypse. Probably why I moved out of California 17 yrs ago. Felt like I was surrounded by hungry zombies wanting my guns and food stuff. Especially my medical supplies.
Where we live now is like prepper heaven. Good neighbors, mostly retired military and others just like me.
Thanks for the video Don! Great information. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I started going to a foraging class, and we all tended to meet up ever since. There are a lot of community garden clubs out there that tend to go in a prepping direction just because ... That's why they are gardening. Peace and walk in the light.

That is an excellent idea. I love foraging for wild edibles because I know I can find food in almost any situation. I bet others in a class like that would feel the same. Even a local garden club would be the direction I want to go. Thank You so much.

I must also recommend "The Outsider's" channel. It's very educational on edible plants in forests (I live in Sweden and most of the plants from his american forest can be found here. Would your prepping communities accept new people or not? Because you may need more people than you think to defend your territory. What would be the criteria for people to join? Because I am 16 and tried prepping but my parents took away my debt card so I can hardly prep, but I would be willing to be a slave to decent people would hardly drain resources too. Would you guys accept trustworthy people that may have limited supplies but are willing to help and listen and learn? Because you will need a group of some sorts to have better chance of survival.

I love all of these tips. My group formed pretty organically because of a shared hobby. Shortly after November when things started getting hairy, we had the conversation with our group and I was really heartened to hear them talk about what they were going to bring when gathered for our check-in. We might not be the most prepared, but we'll do pretty well.

I tried to get into a group with land/community where u could join and build a home. They denied me because I didn’t have enough cash, as they wanted me to invest in infrastructure like a septic system, I didn’t have a 1 year supply of food and they didn’t like the fact that I had trouble handling a gun. I have gardening skills & resources for that, which they were totally lacking in. I support their decision, as I have other options anyways… but, I remained in contact and have since found that one of the guys may be acting like a sociopathic leader and they ended up losing a key member who has construction vehicles machinery … they had plans to build several out buildings, like a greenhouse and a community kitchen gathering building… and they were not able to get that done. And while I support their effort to create ‘high tech’ infrastructure, I think they need to also consider how they can live primitively as well. Plus I was concerned about their previous involvement with what mighta been a militia group with members who were saying that they would become like looting marauders if SHTF. So yeah, be careful. I’m sure that’s not how most militia members think, but not all doctors are blind to vaccination dangers either. Good advice to get to know people.

Now I have a 20-strong team of professionals and ALL are skilled in fighting, archery, practical skills and utterly reliable.
In England, we aren't allowed guns or knives but we are all reenactment fighters and have 200+ years worth of collective experience in ranged, edged and unarmed combat and survival skills.
Got a paramedic, a GP, a pyrotech chemist and loads of other useful people.
I am a botanist, builder, farmer and woodsman and have a vast array of other skills collected over 20 years.
Even got a few designated human shields 😂
We are bonded by our reenactment group but now we have decided that we will be United in survival as well as fun.
The best prep is a STRONG community.

South coast here. Sounds like you have it sorted in your area. Thought about this a lot with similar aims.
Always been a sticking point, to move close and/or own joint land, or to commit to take responsibilty for building up self-reliance on that land. Most are simply playing weekend warriors, between work and family commitments have little time nor inclination to invest into a truly resilient community.
Are you lucky enough to have the ability to farm jointly too? Some folk that I know would like to be involved in something like that, but as always funds and headcount are major stumbling blocks.

I am pleased to see the continuing emphasis on community. People have always depended on group collaboration from gathering plants to engineering water supplies. It’s a basic biological and economic principle. You reminders that gardening and producing or sound plans. Shooting, thievery and piracy are dead end ideas, literally. I ponder 100 million campfires and submit that a strong solar energy awareness is a key route to getting by. Understand heating wash water in a black can or warming a burrito on the hot dashboard of a parked car. Harvesting energy not burning fuel is essential. As firewood or generator gas dwindles. Simple glass topped boxes can bake bread and it’s a fun game to challenge yourself to a homemade solar cook off. Your platform reaches many so keep challenging people to build connections and functional alternates to the petro/electro/and even wood fuel dependence. Even a percentage saved is a valuable part of getting by in a pinch. Keep up your positive thoughts, thanks.

Am a solo act with trust issues & misanthropic tendencies but yes, for really getting through a societal collapse you can't do it yourself. I am disabled as well but not bedbound or wheelchair-bound, luckily (my issues have to do with standing balance & hearing). I still get around when I need to. What can I offer a prepper group?
🔹Woodworking skills. One of those skills is processing from cut or downed lumber. Most woodworkers buy their stock online & have never touched anything that wasn't already a board.
🔹Fruit winemaking. Because fermentation is fun...& you have drinks! Wine is also a great barter good.
🔹Am great at building things out of junk & improvised solutions in general. Am also a better scavenger than most; about 2/3rds of my possessions are not bought & of what I _did_ buy, a substantial part of that is my home library. It's small but there isn't much fluff in it.
🔹Cyclist. Am not Lance Armstrong but I commuted for years (sometimes commuting in dangerous conditions). I've also ridden horses...would do well as mounted perimeter patrol.
🔸Before anything else, I was an artist for much of my life...have done freelance illustration more than once. If you need someone to design a flyer, poster, sign, etc., I'm your man.
My books reflect my interests: history...mostly religious & military history, also organized crime & some political stuff. When you're into that the advantages are several: Current events rarely surprise you & when it comes to defense & conflicts in general, you don't have unrealistic expectations & have a sense of what is required.
What are my chances of success in a prepper group?...better than 50-50, I hope. 😏

All they wanted to focus on political bashing and if I asked about home fortifications and provision storage they became extremely angry I wanted to change the subject from bashing their political opponents and hating on minorities. It really pushed me into the more of a lone wolf category, and I am in a Northeast Urban center- which may not be the best combination.

If you were in Texas I'd bring solar/wind/hydro energy, waste control, sustainable harvest, food preservation, survival skills, building skills, electronics hence solar so lithium, plumbing, electrical, portable bug out cabin, land development etc. Heck I can turn poop into power but it's a lot so a few more videos or I'd blow us up. I had no choice but to learn it all myself, relying on my Mom's holistic upbringing if I don't get around to medical. I even learned to make 1800 century pemmican, cheese, bread which lands you in biology. Learned hydroponics, symbiotic, aquatic yada yada.
The most important thing is HUMANITY, TRUST, LOVE, CARE AND LOYALTY.
I don't have support either, just blank stares because they know I'm right, they are just sleep. Thanking God for the COMFORTER, the Holy Spirit. You are not confounded or confused at all the chaos, you are at peace knowing the truth. God is so smart, thought I was until the Spirit showed me just how not smart I am. The drug plagued one failed for obvious reasons but the mostly successful ones that grew finally failed when the quantity of lazy members crossed a line. This line is a gray line but when those with good work ethics found their contributions to the group exceeded their benevolence to the lazy they left!

Just be a good neighbor to any households that are within walking distance because these are the people most likely to be able to get to your home and help you after a disaster. Be tolerant of and polite to your neighbors -- complaining about the junk car in the neighbor's driveway or their loud rooster will not win you any friends. If you have a bumper crop from your vegetable garden or from your backyard fruit tree or have canned a big batch of jam, make gifts of some of this to your nearest neighbors. Make time to welcome new neighbors and give them a gift of home baked goods. Get to know the names of your nearest neighbors and even the names of their pet dogs or cats. Return stay pets to their owners without complaining or expecting a reward. Check the neighborhood after a storm and be ready with your chainsaw to help remove downed trees from driveways and never expect or accept payment. If a neighbor holds a garage sale, go there and speak with your neighbor to get to know them and be sure to buy something. If your next door neighbor is elderly or is away on vacation, mow their front lawn or rake their leaves when you are doing your own yard maintenance. Be interested in your neighbors without being intrusive. If there is a power outage during winter, do a welfare check on your neighbors especially the elderly or single parents with small children. Be ready to lend a hand if a neighbor needs help. Consider every interaction with a neighbor as an opportunity to make an ally and an investment towards future help from them. Because you never know who will be the one to help you when you need it.

Sootch, back when I joined a III% group, there were some people involved that openly spoke about being marauders if the situation presented itself. For obvious reasons, they were asked to leave the group. They all went together and formed their own faction. All of the meetings I attended, were always about self preservation skills and tactics, never anything about actions. They were more concerned about stockpiling food, medical supplies, and the "Bugout" location. Which by the way was in a state park, minimal water access, and not much of a defensive location. For me, there are far too many false "Patriots" whom when the time comes, will run to the Honeycomb Hideout, and wait for others to do the heavy lifting...

Try "growing a group". Talking to a group about the end of the world is overwhelming. When talking to folks about prepping start off talking about your EDC and why you carry what you carry. Next talk about prepping your vehicle just for everyday travel (tire jack, fix a flat, jumper cables, etc). Next bugging in for bad weather. Then start building up to SHTF. Along the way you can get the fill of folks and find out who would be a good fit and who wouldn't before you get into weapons and stashing supplies.

So you guys I'm in Texas and put an unfinished cabin less than an hour out of Dallas in a mobile home park. I'm still in the City working so needed it to stay safe with people. I've also got total responsibility for a good natured yet spoiled set in his ways with his wits still about him 80yr old Dad NOW. So I'm keeping him in the City, group home closed due to covid. I'll set him up with home health care and be there the 3 days I work until I finish cabin.
It's a small park in a cul-de-sac with about 13 homes, one way in and one way out. I've got a confederate flag neighbor I'm counting on as the only black semi resident since I'm just building. I'm not even supposed to have an unfinished cabin in these city limits. I used to do FHA Land/Home with Manufactured Homes so I know restrictions. I also know how to get around things and currently getting past the INSPECTOR. Property owner is on my side so all is well for now, private property. It doesn't even matter I can move it easy and have options. We move site built houses easy here so not safe leaving a portable 34ft CUTE cabin unattended. Point is my mobile home community have no idea they're my Prepper community but they're oober nice, nosy and impressed. I can care less if they're racist, food and safety have many colors and people aren't as racist as they think, just people.
I ordered this cabin last October with electrical and interior wall framing, doing the rest ALL BY MYSELF, I'm inclined. I've got some help but really just connect electrical to pole, added extra outlets myself. Love Home Depot and Lowes, now everyone gets why my Dad calls me Boy. I now know why everyone is at HD and Lowes hours. Staff, customers all geeking out from isle to isle. They assume I need help, I'm pretty girlie looking but I know what I'm doing. I'm OCD and afraid of failure but do anything I want and bugging out is necessary to avoiding the chaos.
I just learn EVERYTHING about survival in a grid down situation, stock, grow, sustain as many as I can, no choice as a Christ follower, can't kill them either. I can't say I'd let ANYONE harm a child, woman, elderly or disabled person so cross that bridge when I get there, God willing I won't. I stay awake and knowledgeable the AGENDAS and as I've done for about 5yrs try to wake others, your entire life is a lie.
I've gone ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE RABBIT HOLE and I emerged seeking GOD. I'm on the Bible Belt grew up in Church, had 4 grandmother's different denominations but all Christ, the Father and Holy Spirit so KJV. I thought I believed and worshipped God, Iove people and love them happy so decent human being. NO MAN could explain to me what I discovered in that rabbit hole, MAN was who I saw in that hole so MAMMON could not be trusted.

Like a bug out camper and truck for hurricanes or other things. Bug out as a group is safer as a convoy because people can haul stuff of different types like tents in one car sleeping gear in a van and tools and gasoline in a truck and so on. Because when power is out the gasoline will stay in the ground. And if you go out on foot the natives tribes travel to together thus the name of tribe. And true security is in numbers in a building or in tent and on foot. Horses is good for long range grid down travel.

Family, blood is thicker than water i the old saying, and those bonds are for most people already there, even though some don't get along in the good times. Common religion is another big one, since you can not argue religion, as it is based on faith. Long term friendships are probably next. A businessman once told me, where you have partners, you have problems, almost guaranteed, so if you set up a survival group like a business it needs an exit plan. Think of a condominium owner association as a form of government of people's investments are pretty equal. Usually financial investments into land and hard assets are very unequal. Realize that the people who have made the assets are and should be in charge, after all, it's their stuff. Best book I have ever read on this topic, MAGS by Charlie Hogwood.

@Asynd ,maybe I will. I have to wait till I'm 62 years old because the price of a fishing license in my age group ends at 61. I will wait till the end of January.

I don't know how to form a group, stay home or go out to a natural lake, what exactly to prepare for. Anxiety has took over.

Yea don’t even try to be a part of a bunch of veterans unless you are one. I am very appreciative and sympathetic to veterans but I will never be accepted into veterans circles simply because I am not one. I have seen my brother in law ignore me more than once when he is around fellow veterans.

I know you said you can’t push a rope, but do you have any ideas for how to convince people who are right there on the edge to take the plunge into prepping? My whole extended family is supportive of me being a prepper, but I’m pretty sure the extent of their survival plans are come to my house. I’m ok with them coming to my house, but how do I convince them to stock up on their own supplies so they can bring them to my house and we can combine our stockpiles?

My situation is I prep for them anyways. Just very very basic stuff. Rice, beans, salt, sugar. I do wish they'd prep for themselves but I'd never turn them away. Also more people is more security. Don't tell them you're prepping for them though unless you can get them to contribute financially.

Are there any preppers in Florida looking to form something or accept any helping hands into an already formed group?

    *SCREENING STRANGERS*
*1. Determine your core purposes & principles in life that you would absolutely die for.*
*2. Make a list of "Deal-Breakers", traits or practices that you absolutely can't live around.*
*3. Create subtle questions designed to reveal those deal-breakers, principles & purposes. This way the moment one of these deal-breakers appears or if they have opposing purposes & principles you can just politely dismiss yourself.*
*4. "Actions speak louder than words", so see with your own eyes their level of preparedness & skill. Perhaps something as simple as a show & tell with both your Go-Bags/Bug-Out-Bags & a discussion of 'what-if' scenarios.*
*True, these 4 suggestions are by no means all that you can do but it's a start. And there are no guarantees a group member will not hide what they really are or change once they're admitted into the group, but we do our best to screen out potential liabilities & find loyal, dependable, prepared minded people to join a group now before it's too late.*
*I've learned that an "alliance" may mean different things to different people with a variety of expectations. I don't doubt some groups have already agreed upon their own definitions. As an example, some people/groups/govts expect an ally to support them only with material goods in time of need. Whereas others may expect an ally to participate with physical action. Another definition of an ally includes support even if a group member is in the wrong.*
*Personally, I believe a person/group/govt has broken an alliance when they knowingly attempt to act against the group's core Principles or Purposes because once a group loses their sense of right & wrong then trust & morale will erode & that group may eventually fall apart or worse yet, tear itself apart.*
*Sadly, many people today have very different definitions & feelings about what is right & what is wrong. One person may believe stealing under ANY circumstance is absolutely wrong. Whereas another person may excuse stealing under certain circumstances. Starvation, etc.*
*_Anyone opposed to your core Principles or Purposes of life should NOT be in your intimate group._*
*_Proverbs 15:22 22 "Plans fail when there is no consultation, But there is accomplishment through many advisers."_*
*Liberty = Peace & I pray that you & your loved ones always enjoy both!*

Too many times I’ve had people whom I’ve helped that later turned on me. Also, too many people I’ve met who are the “ropes” you talked about not being able to push. Others say “yes ,lets get together and do this, ...” - then I never hear from them. Won’t return calls, emails, etc. Talk is cheap and B.S. walks.
