this is the stupidest and most pretentious thing im saying but i had a thought in my head once i saw this comment so if anyone is wondering why Tomoda is named the way he is and doesn't know japanese 友田 (ともだ in hiragana) contains 友 (tomo, とも) which by itself can mean friend and is the first character in 友達 (friend, tomodachi, ともだち), and 田 (da in this name. this kanji by itself means rice field/paddy) is a kanji in some people's names like 山田 (Yamada) but だ (da) by itself is a casual or another way of saying "to be" or "です" (also "to be" but more polite in comparison to "だ") so if you're trying to break down the kanji or characters, yeah "友だ" (where 田 is replaced with だ since they're pronounced the same way) is "I am [a] friend"

Japan doesn’t use the words yaoi or shounen ai anymore, only foreigners do. Everything is BL and it’s categorised by whether it’s mature or not mature. When you say BL and GL you’re actually talking about shounen ai and shoujo ai but that’s mixing up western and Japanese categories. Putting it simply. JAPAN: uses BL and GL. Differentiated by maturity rating. OUTSIDE JAPAN: uses yuri/yaoi/shoujo ai/shounen ai. Yuri and yaoi encompasses at least one implied sex scene. Shoujo/shounen ai focuses on story and romance. Sometimes implied love. I hope this makes sense. You can’t say smth is yaoi or shounen Ai or BL bc BL is both yaoi and shounen ai.

Really? I feel like a lot of things have that (whether anime or something else) and sometimes it just feels like unoriginality and lazy writing.
