Midgies. I wonder if that's the same as what we call no seeums over here? Think I encountered them once. I kept getting bit by something all over my legs, but never could see what was biting me. They're vicious little buggers. Love that van! The screen is super nice!! We have something similar for the door on our cargo trailer. Great that you can advertise the screens everywhere you go!! And it's so great you can now get to the places you've passed on before.

Hey both great shout to people in the UK producing great products. Nice one! That screen looks a proper job done really well. Regarding bitting insects in particular. I found a product that works for me and allows the family to sit outside in the evenings with no bites. It’s a product by thermacel and runs off a small gas bottle. It’s pricy but it allows you to take it around wherever you happen to want to stop, sit, bbq etc and gives you roughly 10m square protection. I’ve had it a while camped, bbq, gardening whatever and I’ve not suffered with bites since. Anyway in summary great video/content as usual. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers

@@UrbanVanlife I live in Scotland and converted my Kia Sorento to a camper ish. Did the NC500 with my son and we desperately needed these contraptions 😂 it was so bad one morning, I literally threw the tailgate awning soaking wet in the bed area and had a strop for about 10 mins

Rumour has it , as small as the holes in the flyscreens are , Emma can still slip through without unzipping them .
I think she was just showing off for the cameras by unzipping the zip high enough for someone to get in TBH .

I may be small but I am slightly larger than a midge and I actually learnt how to work zippers from a rather young age, you could say I was a zipper prodigy!!! 😝😝😝
As for showing off by unzipping the screen high enough for someone to get …. You haven’t seen the secret extendable step that enabled me to reach and if was only high enough for me to get in so not that high really 😂😂😂

Great product and vid, Spend time in Scotland, and whilst found great anti midge repellent for myself, (Smidge), finding same for van, not so good; In the list of models covered mine wasn't included, Mk7 transit, unfortunately

So that’s what my van will be called unless the registration leads us to something else!! Not sure where we will go first, I was planning on more wild camping, we’re in plymouth but was planning on heading to wales, following the coast and hopefully finding a good wild spot, any recommendations? Loving the name for the van, my dad's first name was William (even though he went by his second name for some reason). Wales is an amazing place, we once went on a 2 day trip and ended up staying for over a week we loved it so much, one place which we both always say is a must is Blue Lagoon, it was a former quarry which is absolutely stunning and its not far from Abereiddy if i remember correctly, but there are so many other places too from north to south wales, its just stunning! This is obviously Emma by the way hahaha

@@UrbanVanlife I will! I'm allergic to insect bites.Last time I went up to Scotland , I stayed at Luss and got totally annihilated by midges and had severe septic reaction t them. Now I'm solo camping in my newly finished vivaro, I'm aiming to go back .

@@emmaurbanvanlife120 someone said try skin so soft from Avon....it didnt work. what annoyed me really though, was my late mum was with me and we were at the C&C club at Luss. she was picking my head going mad to watch boringnation street and hemmeroiddale so I tried to get a signal n the max view satellite dish and got totally hammered with bites until a little chap walked up and said.."them there stat a lite things dont work here..... Before Id got back in the van I could feel my arms, face and eyelids swelling and to the tune of "her indoors" having a warp spasm about missing her crap soaps I had to make an emergency visit to a doctors in Helensborough who gave me heavy duty antihistamine drugs. I literally looked like some horror out of a Lovecraft novel. And most annoying of all...not one bite did my mum get even when standing beside me out doors. No... they just turned up in bloody dinner jeckets to dine on me. Next time I go up I'm wearing an NBC suit

Well after months of searching and used van prices getting beyond silly, I've ordered a L4 H3 XLWB and decided brand new is the better investment long term (its a little scary!! lol) Hopefully selling my 2006 transit conversion will bring a bit of a return to help pay for it. They would definitely have come in handy last year when we visited Scotland in our T6. We’ve had to upsize so not sure if they will be looking at providing these screens for motorhomes. We would definitely look at these if they did 👍🦟

Could you include the magnet split connectors, so the screen is in two but automatically connects together ?
They have researched them but the problem is when your not TOTALY level then the magnets don’t really work properly

Is it hard to find captain chairs the spin round. And is it hard doing the Electric stuff . And how save is it. Cuz I have herd vans going up in smoke cuz of the Electric.
You can get them, most captain chairs and bases can be interesting installing because of the size of a motorhome and van because of the width difference, but it can be done. Electrics is important to put safety first always, this means buying products from a reputable trader who knows from start to finish where their products come from, 12 volt planet are a good example of such company. You can always buy cheap products but that’s where the danger lies. Better even if you have a small budget to save for quality products rather than buy cheap, this is why we changed out our breakers as we stupidly bought them from Amazon and they did not do the job they are designed for! Going for higher quality products doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll end up spending more either as they usually last the course of time. But if you have limited/no basic knowledge or feel you need more information to make you more confident with electrics then please get in touch with @uniqueoffgrid on Instagram they run very very affordable courses that cater for everybody, Neil has been on the course himself with Jeff and even with his level of knowledge he learnt some new info!

No discount code as they are around £100/125 cheaper than the others on the market and handmade etc!, these ones on our van are £199 but other vans their prices are on their Instagram! Definitely drop them a message/email though as the product is amazing! Could of done with these at Hereford last year our van was overrun!! Can’t wait to see the progress on the van!!! Hi ya Anthony, we love the trolls motorhome as it has the width we are lacking however our van has been purposely designed by us to work in the best possible way for our needs, everyone’s van or motorhome should work for them and for us a self build just works better as we got to do everything from start to finish (although the van is never ever finished as we are constantly adding on ha ha). Liam builds some lovely vans for people and it shows he loves building them.

Hi Malcolm, thanks for watching us and so glad we came in useful with the lights!!! These are different to other brands on the market as they use a finer stronger net which is not just mozzy proof (all very technical but if you speak to the guys at webbnet they the are a font of knowledge on materials)! The ones on our van cost £199 so they are basically 1/3 cheaper!

@@emmaurbanvanlife120 check out the Cairngorms snow roads route. 90 miles of cracking scenery from Blairgowrie to Grantown on Spey. Loads decent wild camping spots on the road but would recommend the carpark next to Farquarsons bar and kitchen in Braemar for a stop over for good food and local beers. The bothy for breakfast is a must aswell

We built the van during lockdown with a view to pack it and go travelling full time, however things changed during lockdown and our plans have been put on hold for around 12 months due to family and work commitments, but the plan is still to pack up and go, but our van gets out and about the moment we have a spare couple of days at the moment, she’s not meant to just sit on a drive she’s meant for adventure!!

We have had no issues at all with our two and even though they are small dolly weighs more than you would think! But I’m sure if you drop them a message they would be happy to answer this for you as they are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the materials they use for their screens
