Reversing the original roles of these two works almost “too” well. With Naruto’s upbringing taken into account, it’s almost more believable than the original story.

Yup, this does have some unique potential considering what goody two shoes Naruto was in reality, he pulled some pranks but in reality he could have easily become darker than black yet he didn't. We did have Obito and Gaara as a versioms of Naruto who lost hope but still not the same.

I feel like naruto could've easily convinced kurama to share his power freely if he went evil, I dont think kurama would be against burning everything down at that point in the story

That's possible, Kurama just wants to kill humans. I just don't know if Kurama would accept be used by a human, but Naruto has talk no jutsu... so that's really possible.
Yes, Naruto could simply come to an agreement with Kurama to control his powers in exchange for freedom, or he could simply use force to control him through the tug of war, he might even have some difficulty defeating him but Naruto is unscrupulous surely he would do anything to win, even using dirty and cowardly tactics.

The scariest thing about this is that it would've been easy for Naruto. He grew up with nobody, the entire village avoided him like the plague, and treated him like he wasn't even a human being. Naruto overcame it of course, but who could've blamed him if this was the path he chose?
to be fair tho orochimaru probably wouldn’t train naruto. if anything, he would kill naruto and seal the nine tails inside himself. also in this encounter he would probably try to steal sasuke body and they wouldn’t be able to stop him
Really, I see that Naruto has a lot more potential than Sasuke if he went evil. A huge storage of chakra/energy was always one of the best advantages anyone could hope for.

Danzo,deidara ,gaara or others sasuke faught didn't respect him as much as Naruto.
This scenario makes way more sense - The village treated him like monster - Sakura only cared about Sasuke - Kakashi only wanted to train Sasuke - Sasuke called him "loser" all the time - Akatsuki wanted to capture him Somehow everything was going in that direction, then Kishimoto went with the edgy Sasuke road

Edit: The only issue I see here is that all the characters cared so little about him that they wouldn't have even chased him for relationship purposes. Sasuke would have probably kept focusing on Itachi and Sakura sure as hell would not cry to sasuke about bringing naruto back. They only formed bonds with him because he never gave up on them and repeatedly saved them, not vice versa.

This concept is extremely interesting. I find the idea of Naruto leaving the village far more dangerous than Sasuke doing so. Sasuke is an S class ninja with an extremely powerful dojutsu; he’s dangerous. Naruto, on the other hand, is not just an S class ninja; he’s a jinchuuriki and also the son of the previous Hokage. That would be a far more serious blow to Konoha’s prestige and military power.

NARUTO: Divergence This feels like a legitimate timeline that could happen. Given the fact that he was shunned by everybody, it's plausible that this iteration was pushed to the brink. You Spend 24/7 just trying to not sleep and the cherry on top is YOUR ALIVE FARTHER (who literally planned and started all of this) eventually deems your entire existence as a failed experiment and orders for your assassination, and for SHITS AND GIGGLES let’s make the assassin the brother of your deceased mother who is also the ONE AND ONLY person alive to love you. His “version” of Sasuke and Sakura and kakashi not only didn’t have any kind of bonds or love for him, instead truly in fear just breathing around him. Compared to Naruto’s version of which is not knowing your parents who are dead, and the village is mean to you and even on occasion beats yo ass lol. Sai as Naruto's replacement would hit a lot harder in this version especially when you consider how Naruto didn't initially approve of Sai to begin with in the original timeline. Now, he feels as if he never meant anything to his former friends and they just proved that he was right for turning on Konoha.

Story: naruto was not only treated like a monster, but people even tried to hunt him down like a monster, naruto then eventually meets orochimaru who gave him a chance in life to fight back. Sasuke was the only person naruto respected and wants him to join, but sasuke refuses and wants him to change even if his life was hard. Naruto was sasuke's only friend, same with naruto, but if sasuke wont join him then he's an obstacle in his way
This makes Yamato a bit more interesting, too. While he did stop Naruto's transformation a couple times, it always felt like the story could have just been modified a bit and he wouldn't be necessary. Now having someone who can suppress the Kyuubi's chakra might really make a difference

I like how he has Kurama’s eyes the whole time, showing that he doesn’t care anymore, he wants to become a monster and the seal will only weaken the more he uses kurama’s strength
The moment in shippuden when naruto blanketed everyone in his 9 tails chakra and they could feel his thoughts and feelings. And the flashbacks from how he used to be treated will forever remain my favorite.
Bruh, I’ll never understand how Orochimaru, in all his scheming and experimentations never had more of an interest in Naruto (obviously due to the plot and writing) but like objectively speaking, Orochimaru should have taken him to study and attempt to harness.

THIS IS A VERY WELL DONE what If scenario. It perfectly back ups what Naruto said about how easily he and Sasuke's roles could have been reversed. But even so you did a very accurate job of showing us what that picture might look like. It's actually very terrifying how natural and seemless this circumstances is for Naruto, our golden boi, like we ALL knew that he could've EASILY gone evil And had every right to, and we know what that looks like bc Gaara is literally an "evil Naruto", but to actually see that (but in Sasuke's shoes) he'd fit perfectly REALLY puts into perspective, it's actually really sad 😭 makes you realise a little more of his trauma. It also makes you REALLY appreciate that Naruto felt real sympathy for Gaara and stuck by Sasuke Alot more and why, because now WE know why! when he says he _knows_ that path, clearly he wasn't kidding. (aside from the deep DEEP bond they share and Naruto really loves Sasuke and vice versa obviously) And on that note its also _Very easy_ to see Sasuke *Fight for Naruto* and stay in the village bc canon Sasuke was actually beginning to be happier again in squad 7, if Orochimaru hadn't happened he wouldn'tve left as we see here and he wouldn't want Naruto to be as hateful and alone as he was. *love that detail about their friendship* 😭 Basically well done

An alternate version where this is canon would have definitely been better than what we got with boruto. Also, really loved how naruto and sakura still had their little goofy chemistry in such a menacing scene. Props to the creator for making it seem so natural. Definitely not. This is just a filler at most. It's just gonna have the same ending which we know. I am not a fun of Boruto but this idea of yours is definitely worse than Boruto. Boruto is a nice idea but the execution isn't the best.
i think the jerayiya thing would still happen just without trying to find Tsunade just so he can learn the rasengan, but it will be way weaker than it is in the show at that time, like boruto small

I could definitely see as a potential outcome of the Naruto timeline. Sasuke choosing to let go of his need of revenge & bettering himself, and Naruto succumbing to the loneliness & resentment he once held in his heart since he was very young.
God this is so accurate. Orochimaru would’ve taught Naruto all of these: How to use the Shadow Clone Jutsu more effectively, how to break Genjutsu with Kurama, and how to control Kurama’s Chakra. Kurama would also want Naruto to follow him in his path of hatred so he’d accept Naruto, and he would’ve been at the state he was.
1.Naruto couldn't control nine tails chakra until he took it from Kurama with help from Killer B. Something Orochimaru would not know and therefore could not teach 2. Orochimaru would not train him because the main special thing about naruto is the nine tails which he could extract via sealing jutsu and put into him after he transfers to a more "special" vessel 3. Kurama wants to escape Naruto using his hatred to consume him and get him to release the seal. He would not let him keep control just like he wouldn't in the normal version
Not to mention that it is unlikely that even Orochimaru could control the nine tails because 1. He couldn't even get his giant snake summon to fully go along with him. 2. Sasuke was able to beat Orochimaru with his will. The strength of the nine tails will is much stronger.

But if he joined the akatsuki willingly and controls kyuubi, he can give a part of the kyuubi to them to create the ten tails, right? Like with bee, the only thing that they got from him was a small part of his tentacles and yet obito or madara (i forgot) still managed to bring out the ten tails.

I know alot of people have said this already but Naruto out of really anyone in the whole series had a lot of good reasons to go berserk and become a villain. The man was scorned for basically his entire life and you can only push someone like that so far until they snap
It really comes down to personality types imo. A type like Sasuke would easily snap against the village after being treated like Naruto. But Naruto has a softer side to him that is probably what kept him from going down that path. He had great influences, but Sasuke had good influences too and chose to do what he did.

Also when you are born into the Uchiha Clan and gain the sharingan through traumatic situations, your emotions of hatred become spiked that's why its a cursed clan. Tobirama (Second Hokage) explained this in the show.
This was really good, honestly this in my opinion actually makes more sense than the original story, Naruto’s reasons for leaving the village are so much more convincing, this would lead to extremely different events taking place though, Naruto would never join the Akatsuki because he knows that they’d just kill him, i would love to go to an alternate reality we’re this was the story instead of the original story
I like this version because it covers a lot of early plot holes you could say that realizing that his father was the hokage but no one telling him was what pushed him over the edge. And considering how Naruto always had a story so similar to the villains and in the end he killed them, it's just as if he was killing himself, and that would push anyone over the edge. Can you imagine continuing to meet people with lives so similar to yours and seeing that yall lived through shit , I think anybody would want to turn against others after that. And I still wish that in this "what if" world Naruto still bonds with Kurama.
Not only that but Sasuke even has more of a reason to train hard and protect the village so that Uchiha massacre doesnt happen again, and he can have his trouble in paradise moment when he learns of the truth. Also, the whole "ive decided i want to be hokage" shtick that Sasuke came up with and his thoughts on wanting to kill the village would fit better with evil Naruto as he has an actual reason to hate EVERYONE in the village, not just leaders (like Sasuke does). I really wish we got this storyline in an alternate universe
Just to throw my hat in the ring for an alternative story of how we got here: Part 1. Land of Waves: stays the same except Naruto is more conflicted about his inability to identify with the cruel practices of the shinobi. Part 2. Chunin Exams: Orochimaru targets Naruto instead of Sasuke as he doesn't think Sasuke's sharingan can contend with Itachi's. Also, a tailed beasts opens up a lot of possible experiments as well as Orochimaru being able to stop the Akatsuki from completing their objective. Fast forwarding to the tournament, Gaara's whole speech in the hospital makes Naruto super sympathetic towards him. The night before the tournament, he has nightmares of destroying the village with Gaara. He has a tattoo that says "family" or "friends" or something like that. However, it is on the right side of his head rather than left. The tournament results are the same except Naruto fights Gaara while Sasuke fights Neji. Sasuke still has his training with Kakashi with the motivation being to win against Neji and Itachi but not because he is worried about Naruto catching up. Sasuke also says that he has gained a lot of respect for Naruto even though he is still a loser. Sasuke vs Neji is Uchiha vs Hyuuga, a fight tons of fans wanted in canon, with Neji claiming he doesn't fight for his clan which is how we still trigger the monologue about his backstory. Sasuke claims the clan is a massive part of who you are and having them taken away will make you feel grief beyond words, allusion to the Uchiha massacre. Sasuke convinces Neji that the pain of losing family must not turn into hatred, though Sasuke is conflicted himself about this. In case he fights Pain, the line "if one comes to call vengeance justice, then that justice will only cause further vengeance and trigger a vicious cycle of hatred" would be really cool to apply to his character. Sasuke breaks the ground with a Chidori which destabilizes Nejis gentle fist defenses and then rushes him with a kick, Sasuke wins. Naruto vs Gaara is a stalemate with Jiraiya proud of how well Naruto is doing, however he has to tap into a lot of 9 tails chakra to do it. Part 3. Konoha Crush: Jiraiya is in the village this time because he senses a darkness in Naruto that he felt with Nagato. He then says a line about coming across chakra just like it with one of his students, an allusion to him being Nagatos sensei. Jiraiya defends Hiruzen from Orochimaru. The fight is really a draw but Hiruzen clearly doesn't belong on the battlefield with them. It is essentially Jiraiya vs Orochimaru. Naruto goes after Gaara, but more seeking answers rather than fighting. This causes him to only stalemate Gaara as he is hesistant about fighting him, however the Sound Four show up and save him before being beaten back by Kankuro, Temari, and Baki calling the sound village traitors. As this is going on, Naruto gives his speech to Gaara but with a lot more sympathy for the path Gaara followed. The Sand Siblings escape with the help of Baki who had already forced the Sound 4 into retreating. Part 4. The Search for Tsunade arc doesn't happen because the 3rd Hokage is still alive and Orochimaru still has his arms. Instead, the 3rd Hokage wants to step down believing himself inadequate to defend the village after losing. Naruto gives a speech to him saying that it is cowardice to step down after losing. Naruto isn't going to give up being a shinobi just because he failed to beat Gaara rather it only motivates him to become stronger. Strength is the only way for Naruto to escape the cruelty he has faced and not become a slave like Haku or a tool like Gaara. Hiruzen stepping down and Naruto being the only one to oppose it creates a rift between him and the rest of the leaf shinobi. However, Jiraiya and Hiruzen state that Naruto is just a child and he doesn't understand. Jiraiya senses the darkness in Naruto again, but, before he can say anything, Hiruzen appoints him to be the 5th Hokage. Jiraiya can't turn down such an offer coming directly from his master so he accepts. This is pretty much what happend to Hiruzen when Tobirama appointed him also. Danzo wasn't a character at this point but basically think of his relationship with Tsunade as the same relationship he would have with Jiraiya. Part 5. Naruto Retreival Arc: Without his training from Jiraiya, Naruto doesn't learn the rasengan and is much weaker than Sasuke. Strength is the most important thing to him and he doesn't have it relative to his rival. This sets him down a similar path to Sasuke in the canon timeline where he talks to Kakashi in an emotional monologue about not having a family, how inferior he feels, and his loneliness. Kakashi responds with how much pain he has felt and how you must not let sadness and anger destroy you. Afterwards, he is contacted by the sound four who give him the same ultimatum and everything plays out similar except swap Sakura with Hinata, Sakura will be out on a mission with Ino to find a medical ninjutsu master. Naruto doesn't get a curse mark as it could mess with Kurama. Sasuke, without the curse mark, fights Naruto, who is tapping into the same amount of nine tails chakra as in canon. I also think he has more reason for destroying the village than Sasuke in canon. Sakura could also do more than just simp for Sasuke for 500 episodes. Hinata actually has reason to like her love interest beyond "he's so cool and badass".
This is especially satisfying considering Naruto had all the more cause to leave the village than Sasuke did! I loved how well-done the flat chest joke was as even if Naruto did go evil, his making jokes would still be a thing!

Edit: The only issue I see here is that all the characters cared so little about him that they wouldn't have even chased him for relationship purposes. Sasuke would have probably kept focusing on Itachi and Sakura sure as hell would not cry to sasuke about bringing naruto back. They only formed bonds with him because he never gave up on them and repeatedly saved them, not vice versa.

This concept is extremely interesting. I find the idea of Naruto leaving the village far more dangerous than Sasuke doing so. Sasuke is an S class ninja with an extremely powerful dojutsu; he’s dangerous. Naruto, on the other hand, is not just an S class ninja; he’s a jinchuuriki and also the son of the previous Hokage. That would be a far more serious blow to Konoha’s prestige and military power.
Naruto would still have to kill pain but I still think jiraya and orochimaru would have to switch too.
And Naruto made many bad guys into good guys by talk no jutsu

Story: naruto was not only treated like a monster, but people even tried to hunt him down like a monster, naruto then eventually meets orochimaru who gave him a chance in life to fight back. Sasuke was the only person naruto respected and wants him to join, but sasuke refuses and wants him to change even if his life was hard. Naruto was sasuke's only friend, same with naruto, but if sasuke wont join him then he's an obstacle in his way
This makes Yamato a bit more interesting, too. While he did stop Naruto's transformation a couple times, it always felt like the story could have just been modified a bit and he wouldn't be necessary. Now having someone who can suppress the Kyuubi's chakra might really make a difference

Bruh, I’ll never understand how Orochimaru, in all his scheming and experimentations never had more of an interest in Naruto (obviously due to the plot and writing) but like objectively speaking, Orochimaru should have taken him to study and attempt to harness.

THIS IS A VERY WELL DONE what If scenario. It perfectly back ups what Naruto said about how easily he and Sasuke's roles could have been reversed. But even so you did a very accurate job of showing us what that picture might look like. It's actually very terrifying how natural and seemless this circumstances is for Naruto, our golden boi, like we ALL knew that he could've EASILY gone evil And had every right to, and we know what that looks like bc Gaara is literally an "evil Naruto", but to actually see that (but in Sasuke's shoes) he'd fit perfectly REALLY puts into perspective, it's actually really sad 😭 makes you realise a little more of his trauma. It also makes you REALLY appreciate that Naruto felt real sympathy for Gaara and stuck by Sasuke Alot more and why, because now WE know why! when he says he _knows_ that path, clearly he wasn't kidding. I could definitely see as a potential outcome of the Naruto timeline. Sasuke choosing to let go of his need of revenge & bettering himself, and Naruto succumbing to the loneliness & resentment he once held in his heart since he was very young.

God this is so accurate. Orochimaru would’ve taught Naruto all of these: How to use the Shadow Clone Jutsu more effectively, how to break Genjutsu with Kurama, and how to control Kurama’s Chakra. Kurama would also want Naruto to follow him in his path of hatred so he’d accept Naruto, and he would’ve been at the state he was.

1.Naruto couldn't control nine tails chakra until he took it from Kurama with help from Killer B. Something Orochimaru would not know and therefore could not teach
2. Orochimaru would not train him because the main special thing about naruto is the nine tails which he could extract via sealing jutsu and put into him after he transfers to a more "special" vessel
3. Kurama wants to escape Naruto using his hatred to consume him and get him to release the seal. He would not let him keep control just like he wouldn't in the normal version
Not to mention that it is unlikely that even Orochimaru could control the nine tails because 1. He couldn't even get his giant snake summon to fully go along with him.
2. Sasuke was able to beat Orochimaru with his will. The strength of the nine tails will is much stronger.

I know alot of people have said this already but Naruto out of really anyone in the whole series had a lot of good reasons to go berserk and become a villain. The man was scorned for basically his entire life and you can only push someone like that so far until they snap
It really comes down to personality types imo. A type like Sasuke would easily snap against the village after being treated like Naruto. But Naruto has a softer side to him that is probably what kept him from going down that path. He had great influences, but Sasuke had good influences too and chose to do what he did.

This was really good, honestly this in my opinion actually makes more sense than the original story, Naruto’s reasons for leaving the village are so much more convincing, this would lead to extremely different events taking place though, Naruto would never join the Akatsuki because he knows that they’d just kill him, i would love to go to an alternate reality we’re this was the story instead of the original story

I like this version because it covers a lot of early plot holes you could say that realizing that his father was the hokage but no one telling him was what pushed him over the edge. And considering how Naruto always had a story so similar to the villains and in the end he killed them, it's just as if he was killing himself, and that would push anyone over the edge. Can you imagine continuing to meet people with lives so similar to yours and seeing that yall lived through shit , I think anybody would want to turn against others after that. And I still wish that in this "what if" world Naruto still bonds with Kurama.
I'm guessing he does bond with Kurama due too how effortlessly they work together, and assume he has already done so.
Not only that but Sasuke even has more of a reason to train hard and protect the village so that Uchiha massacre doesnt happen again, and he can have his trouble in paradise moment when he learns of the truth. Also, the whole "ive decided i want to be hokage" shtick that Sasuke came up with and his thoughts on wanting to kill the village would fit better with evil Naruto as he has an actual reason to hate EVERYONE in the village, not just leaders (like Sasuke does). I really wish we got this storyline in an alternate universe

Just to throw my hat in the ring for an alternative story of how we got here:
Part 1. Land of Waves: stays the same except Naruto is more conflicted about his inability to identify with the cruel practices of the shinobi.
Part 2. Chunin Exams: Orochimaru targets Naruto instead of Sasuke as he doesn't think Sasuke's sharingan can contend with Itachi's. Also, a tailed beasts opens up a lot of possible experiments as well as Orochimaru being able to stop the Akatsuki from completing their objective. Fast forwarding to the tournament, Gaara's whole speech in the hospital makes Naruto super sympathetic towards him. The night before the tournament, he has nightmares of destroying the village with Gaara. He has a tattoo that says "family" or "friends" or something like that. However, it is on the right side of his head rather than left. The tournament results are the same except Naruto fights Gaara while Sasuke fights Neji. Sasuke still has his training with Kakashi with the motivation being to win against Neji and Itachi but not because he is worried about Naruto catching up. Sasuke also says that he has gained a lot of respect for Naruto even though he is still a loser. Sasuke vs Neji is Uchiha vs Hyuuga, a fight tons of fans wanted in canon, with Neji claiming he doesn't fight for his clan which is how we still trigger the monologue about his backstory. Sasuke claims the clan is a massive part of who you are and having them taken away will make you feel grief beyond words, allusion to the Uchiha massacre. Sasuke convinces Neji that the pain of losing family must not turn into hatred, though Sasuke is conflicted himself about this. In case he fights Pain, the line "if one comes to call vengeance justice, then that justice will only cause further vengeance and trigger a vicious cycle of hatred" would be really cool to apply to his character. Sasuke breaks the ground with a Chidori which destabilizes Nejis gentle fist defenses and then rushes him with a kick, Sasuke wins. Naruto vs Gaara is a stalemate with Jiraiya proud of how well Naruto is doing, however he has to tap into a lot of 9 tails chakra to do it.
Part 3. Konoha Crush: Jiraiya is in the village this time because he senses a darkness in Naruto that he felt with Nagato. He then says a line about coming across chakra just like it with one of his students, an allusion to him being Nagatos sensei. Jiraiya defends Hiruzen from Orochimaru. The fight is really a draw but Hiruzen clearly doesn't belong on the battlefield with them. It is essentially Jiraiya vs Orochimaru. Naruto goes after Gaara, but more seeking answers rather than fighting. This causes him to only stalemate Gaara as he is hesistant about fighting him, however the Sound Four show up and save him before being beaten back by Kankuro, Temari, and Baki calling the sound village traitors. As this is going on, Naruto gives his speech to Gaara but with a lot more sympathy for the path Gaara followed. The Sand Siblings escape with the help of Baki who had already forced the Sound 4 into retreating.
Part 4. The Search for Tsunade arc doesn't happen because the 3rd Hokage is still alive and Orochimaru still has his arms. Instead, the 3rd Hokage wants to step down believing himself inadequate to defend the village after losing. Naruto gives a speech to him saying that it is cowardice to step down after losing. Naruto isn't going to give up being a shinobi just because he failed to beat Gaara rather it only motivates him to become stronger. Strength is the only way for Naruto to escape the cruelty he has faced and not become a slave like Haku or a tool like Gaara. Hiruzen stepping down and Naruto being the only one to oppose it creates a rift between him and the rest of the leaf shinobi. However, Jiraiya and Hiruzen state that Naruto is just a child and he doesn't understand. Jiraiya senses the darkness in Naruto again, but, before he can say anything, Hiruzen appoints him to be the 5th Hokage. Jiraiya can't turn down such an offer coming directly from his master so he accepts. This is pretty much what happend to Hiruzen when Tobirama appointed him also. Danzo wasn't a character at this point but basically think of his relationship with Tsunade as the same relationship he would have with Jiraiya.
Part 5. Naruto Retreival Arc: Without his training from Jiraiya, Naruto doesn't learn the rasengan and is much weaker than Sasuke. Strength is the most important thing to him and he doesn't have it relative to his rival. This sets him down a similar path to Sasuke in the canon timeline where he talks to Kakashi in an emotional monologue about not having a family, how inferior he feels, and his loneliness. Kakashi responds with how much pain he has felt and how you must not let sadness and anger destroy you. Afterwards, he is contacted by the sound four who give him the same ultimatum and everything plays out similar except swap Sakura with Hinata, Sakura will be out on a mission with Ino to find a medical ninjutsu master. Naruto doesn't get a curse mark as it could mess with Kurama. Sasuke, without the curse mark, fights Naruto, who is tapping into the same amount of nine tails chakra as in canon. Without the curse mark, Sasuke loses. Naruto escapes to the Sound Village with the promise that he will become strong enough to destroy the leaf.
Tsunade returns to the village with Sakura and Ino. She heals the retrieval team. Sasuke leaves the village with Kakashi.
Skip the opening arc of Shippuden, Deidara and Sasori don't attack the Sand yet, and go straight to the Tenchi bridge...ok, now were up to this...sorry this was so long hope it was a good read. This can really go anywhere from here.
