I just installed this in my garage today. Runs great, lots of hidden features I will have to scour the internet for. The aluminum body is really robust and from a casting. Not stamped aluminum.
Thank you! The instructions included with mine were completely wrong, I tried holding every button combination imaginable trying to get the thing into pairing mode. 😂
Timer is not based on time of day. It is the period of time in hrs/minutes from the current time regardless of the time of day. Timer one turns it on. Timer 2 turns it off.
I picked one of these up a month ago but haven't received it yet in the mail I had an idea about what to do with the exhaust you can make a heat exchanger slash hot water tank to heat up hot water or you can make a old used radiator like that of a Datsun that is all copper and run it through where the coolant ran previously hook up a small DC fan and have a hell of a lot more heat and make the more efficient
I too want to experiment with what can be done with all that exhaust heat... however, there's some concern that if you draw too much heat away from the exhaust, and/or create too much backpressure, it will result in excessive sooting and clogging up. Might not happen if running on Kerosene though... we need to experiment!
@@SamsMotors if you are going to do that, it would be better to a hydronic version. which is the same setup, but instead of the heater exchanged with air it is exchanged with water.
Thank you for taking the time to show these details, I know the 'later' controls, same as you are using, have the ability to adjust 'mixture' for running at altitude, if you do a further video on this setup please add the method if possible.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! This is the only vid i found that helped me pair my remote!! Now i wont freeze getting outta bed 2 turn it on!! Bless ur heart!! ✌❤
Thanks for the walkthrough. For the hot exhaust heat, I was thinking it would be perfect to use it in some custom water heater setup. Would be a shame to hear the environment.

Hi Sam I'd just like to thank you for the very clear and concise video, this helped me no end in completing my set up. Im planning on running a 80/20 kerosine diesel mix to help reduce internal carbon build up. So far so good, great little heaters for the price 👍 Cheers Steve
Just got a red one. Heater has to be off press down arrow and settings button together and the display will show H OFF then press up arrow to turn the pump on. Display will show H ON.To stop the pump press down arrow
Thank you so much Sam for this awesome video i was stuck in manual mode but i can now change to automatic mode after watching your video :) And access the secret menu to adjust some parameters ;)
Thankyou, this video is quite helpful. I bought a van with a heater like this in, but the little red remote won't move past "waiting for connection" message? Can I use the LCD panel, without the remote, to set the temperature and if so how? Thankyiu....
A quick tip for people. The exhaust is extremely hot. Like you have shown, over 250° so why not use this heat and make an extension pipe system and use it like a radiator before the exhaust goes outside.
very simple way of doing the pairing so thank you for video setting up controller become easy when we watched the video hope you do more videos like this god bless you
You are a pioneer for this new type controller, can I make a video request for a range test of the remote? General distance and distance through walls etc as a lot of people say it's not as far as advertised. Thanks for the great video and keep up with the awesome content
Can you help with the Red Remote functions... Is there a written definitive guide somewhere? My red remote only shows ambient and set temperatures.. and not casing temp or voltage. I have an identical unit that shows all those functions.. so I'm thinking it's a matter of correctly setting it up.. HELP !!!
The only observation that I would make is that when checking the temperature of the external case, this temp is in free air. If it was mounting touching something then the temp may be a lot higher. Just a thought if anyone was going to install one in a confined space...
Hello Sam. Really helpfull video, true. A question : in your knowledge the blue display is equal to red/gold display, changing position of the buttons only? Also the trick to use oil pump alone? I get a red one, but with zero instruction. seems equal, more the Altimeter and a sign for fuel, that i don't understand how it could works. tks for your time.
Hello just got 5 kw heater red all in one blue screen black controls, when I turn it up to 5.5 kw it doesn't seem really hot, is there a way of increasing the hertz or making it run hotter or which option turns the heat up, thanks
I have ordered a similar unit as my 110 does not have a heater (ex Oman army trucks were delivered without heaters). I was planning to install the heater under the seat in the battery box with one duct under the car to the bulkhead entry to the dash and the other duct through the battery box into the cabin at low level. Do you think this is a good plan? Do you think 5kW is enough heat for when the truck goes back with me to the Cheshire Countryside? Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
I like the idea of feeding into the original heater inlet - means you will have control of hot air onto your feet or onto the windscreen (assuming the dash has the correct controls and ducts etc)... Quite a long run of ducting to get it there from the seatbox though... it might be worth insulating the duct with some pipe lagging or exhaust wrap or similar, as you'll probably lose quite a bit of heat, especially when on the move and you have lots of cold air rushing past it. 5kW should certainly be enough power - it'll definitely be hotter than a standard Defender heater anyway.
@@SamsMotors I had pretty much same idea in mind, for my VW T3, since it's difficult to keep it warm while driving, but have no idea how to connect this heater with original dashboard heating tubes, without damaging something. Is this even possible ?
I have a display that came with my diesel heater it looks identical to the display in the video but has plus and minus instead of left and right arrow. I have lost the black remote that came with it so purchased the red remote which was identical just a different colour, I get the pairing message on remote when holding power and ok but don't know how to pair with blue controller, I've noticed the signal bars aren't showing in my blue control panel so don't know what going on there, any help would be much appreciated
My blue panel doesn't show the antenna or anything...can't pair the remote. In order to get the "for pairing" to show up, I had to push the ok button FIRST, then, while holding down the OK button, press and hold the power button to get that message. Nevermind, had to follow the instructions EXACTLY and it's fine. Pretty cool for cheap!
Hi Sam, great video. I've got the same unit/control/remote. I've paired the remote but struggling to fathom out how to change temp on both the unit and the remote. There's manual, set oil flow and temp on the left side of the lcd screen, when I press OK it alters from temp to oil flow etc. But doesn't allow me to alter temp. I'm not technically minded and struggle with gadgets, so not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also the hertz can be adjusted via the ok/up and down but when you do the same for temp it changes screen directly back to hertz again. Quite confused.com
Hi, thanks for the comment. It sounds like you've not changed your controller from Hz mode to temperature mode. Try pressing the 'settings' and 'up' arrow at the same time.
Finally a connected remote. Thank you! Do you know if it's possible to set a (low night) temp on the heater, let's say 12°C, so that the fan and heater will only start below 12°C, and turn totally back off above?
The thermostat on the digital controller won’t ever actually shut off the heater fully - it’ll just reduce it down to minimum power once temperature is achieved.
Ok so one thing I noticed with these blue controllers is that the timers are not the same as the black controllers. You are actually setting the amount of time to when the heater will turn on. So if you leave it set for 99:99 it will actually turn on in 99 hours and 99 minutes from when the timer was turned on. Then that timer will shut off. The heater will run continuously until you shut it off manually. Real big pain in the ass. But just a heads up to everyone.
I have the blue controller with red remote, I am using a Hulk marine tank which has the fuel line coming from the top of the tank, where the supplied 5ltr came from the bottom. I am following your instructions as I need to prime it, but I can't get the controller to prime. Im doing what u say in the video, but my controller doesn't bring up the H.
my unit came with the black lcd but no remote. does anyone know where i can get just a remote that will work with it andnot have to buy a whole new controller? great little video, thanks
I bought a kit that came with the exact controller you have but no remote. Is there a place I can buy just the remote? I seem to find the 2 button no display ones quite easily. Thanks for the videos btw. Good stuff.
hello there...im having a major issue getting this thing to run for a second time. it ran for the afternoon, i shut it off, and it wont prime again. it now say E-07 in red, with a flashing red sign under the E letter
Does this model have a thermostat where you can set the temperature and the heater will seek this temperature by running faster when it is colder and then slowing down and idling as the temperature is reached? All I can see is that when you change the temperature, it changes only the fuel pulse cycles to feed more fuel or less fuel.
i fitted one of these heaters in my boat over 12 months ago and it is amazing well worth the money but i had a problem with the LCD screen on the black square unit the display faded till it was not visible anyway i just replaced it with one of the new blue versions and a red remote which works great. do you have any experience of modifying the locked menu ? i have the code and altered the fan speed etc . Quick question, I have the same heater but with black control LCD, and remote without LCD. Can you link to where you bought just the blue thermostat and red remote without buying a new heater? Thank you!
Thanks for the info , can you go more in depth with the gear setting button , I have heard you can downgrade a 5kw to a 3kw through the settings , my heater is far to hot in my van , if I can reset it , then it might save buying another lower output heater . thanks for any help.
I've not explored the Hz and fan settings much yet; but you could try experimenting to see if you can reduce your heat? The 'Hz' setting is simply how fast the pump delivers fuel (lower = less heat) and you just need to adjust the fan speeds down to match the lower fuelling. It may take some trial and error to get it right. Make sure you write down your stock settings so you can always go back to them later.
@@SamsMotors I'd be interested in different fuel and fan settings too. Also, I saw a "mountain" icon on the blue display. Does anyone know how to adjust for high altitude operation?
Whitney Koeberle For the 5kW units I have found low 1.5Hz and High 4.5Hz to work quite nicely. The altitude feature is an automatic one; as you head into higher altitude the heater should automatically adjust fuelling to compensate for thinner air.
SamTheSuave is there a way to change from hz to Celsius ? SN and PF is also in the menu, but can’t really see what they are changing. Maybe anybody can help with that. Thanks for the good and short video. Very appreciated.
How’s things sam just ordered one of these for my boat and my question is does it need its own 12v battery or can it be connected direct to the batteries and can it run when boat is running also when boat is shut down do you go through the same set up when restarting the heater it’s just during the winter months you would not be out as much in summer so everything is switched off safety and all that many thanks for your time Sam great work also. Alan
Hi Alan, You can run the heater off either your main or leisure battery. If using your main one, you’ll want to make sure you keep an eye on the voltage level so you don’t drain it. Yes you can run the heater with the boat running or stopped. If you cut power to the heater completely (LCD off) you will need to set the clock again, but all other settings (fuelling, remote pairing etc) seem persistent.
SamTheSuave That’s great Sam many thanks for your response great to know this maybe I’ll contact you when I receive it hopefully there won’t be any issues again thanks for all the best. Alan

Great video's I am thinking about getting the same one, but before I do I need to know about the battery set up, do I need to go down the route of having a auxiliary battery with a split charger to run the heater or stay with the normal battery set up? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi Alfonso, thanks for the comment. Your electrical setup depends on your requirements and your vehicle really. Do you want to be able to run the heater for multiple days 'off grid', without having to start the engine to charge it? Or are you only wanting to run it for a short period to defrost/preheat your car in the morning?

Can you tell me can I get out thermometer from controller, because controller is in cabin and I heat cargo hold in a van? So I can see which temperature of heated space on cotroller in cabin.
Hello there bud. Can you show how to set temperature from the control panel it's self. A have exactly the same unit & control panel but without the remote. I can't seem to find temperature control on the panel itself. Thanks.
How do you change the temperature to Fahrenheit? I tried the parameters PF1 to PF6 could not tell what they are for? Original password code was 1668, anyone has a link to an actual User Manual guide? Thanks.
Thanks. This helped me learn how to prime the fuel lines. Do you know if there is a thermostat in the LCD controller? Or is the heater only controlled by the sensor on the air intake?
Hi, thanks - glad it helped. There is a thermistor in the black LCD controllers, which is just visible protruding from the case. I believe the blue LCD also has one, but I have not yet opened the casing to check.
There are some sellers online with the red remote on its own - but make sure you have the right type of controller. I just used double sided sticky foam for fixing the controller.
Hi Sam Just installed ours after being reassured by your vids... is amazing. I can’t pair the remote though as I don’t know how to change the language on the remote. Can you advise. Oh and really fab vids. So informative and clear 👍🏻
Hi Gillian, thanks for the comment :) Hopefully you have managed to pair it by now, but you should be able to change to English by holding the OK button on the remote for ~5 seconds. Unfortunately I have seen on the Facebook group that some people have been unable to change their remote language - so I presume that some have been manufactured with Chinese as the only language. If that's the case with yours I suggest you contact your eBay seller and ask for a replacement English remote or a suitable refund.
Did you have any problem with the altitude reading being out? Also I noticed on my controller the case temp, burner cold didn't match ambient temp after controller being powered on for 20mins, mine was 4 degrees too hi.
Mine seems fairly close, I checked what my actual elevation is at the workshop and it was within 20 metres. And yeah the temperature reading and voltage reading are for rough indication only... they vary wildly between heaters too.
SamTheSuave. Umm my contol measures around 11.6v when battery is 12.4v, the elevation is erratic should read 4mtr+ no way near, the lcd reads 23 degrees ambient when its actually 19! Annoying what to do!
@@SamsMotors Is the controller supposed to automatically check the altitude and take that into account? (So far, I have only bench tested this heater, and the altitude is close to my actual elevation.)
SamTheSuave looks like my controller might be faulty then as I get - 90m when at sea level :( My ambient temp is ok indoors unit not heated all day case ok ambient goes out + 4 when controller is idle for 20 mins think the thermistor is in the lcd

I found it in another video. While on the page with the hz. Hold “up” button and press ok. Hz changes to Celsius.
Alan
Hi Alan,
You can run the heater off either your main or leisure battery.
Alan
Does it have low voltage protection in case battery charge goes low so heater will automatically turn off?
It does, but I still wouldn't use it on a starter battery.
Hi Sam, Great video mate. I noticed someone else has this problem, how do you change from automatic to manual mode please?
this is people's technology!
How do you change from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Hello, how to change the Chinese language on the remote control to English?
Did you figure how..I'm having same issue
Hi Sam's. Was the temperature ( almost 300⁰ ) measured in the exhaust pipe in celsius or fahrenheit?
Celcius!
Hello sam ive had my heater for near on 5 years now ive replaced the controller 3 times and the main board twice and pump iam on my 5th but today its pack up again all works untill pump is supposed to switch on but it dont swit h on it displays it on controller but no action if i prime the pump it primes but when it comes to actual use not fireing i was wandering if it the main board again or controller
Hi Phil, that's a strange one. I'm wondering if it might be the glow plug this time, as it won't start the pump until the glow plug has successfully heated. Is it giving you any error codes?
@@SamsMotors yeah its E08 i managed to get it fired once today for about 10 minutes then it packed up again the glow plug works i managed to prime the pump then switch on and it blow out white spoke then die again after fuel ran out in heater as pump would still not fire
Spot on.
Thanks very much, very useful since I have the same controls.
Great video! Can you change the settings from Celsius to Fahrenheit on the new upgraded display?
Not as far as I know.
Hi thanks for this video.
Very helpful and we'll presented.
Mine was working fine for about two months but now when I try to set the timer on and off its not working how it should
It allows me to set the on time but then when I go to the next option 2off it doesn't allow me to input a time , it just goes straight to the pin lock option?!!
Wtf is happening here?? I sat for hours pressing all different kinds combinations to try to resolve it but no joy man :(
Is there a fix for this that you know of please I'd be so grateful for any help .
Many thanks
Jason
Sam, thx for the great edit.
I'm just bench testing today and you got me through the confusing bits.
I have paired the Red Remote but the text is still in Chinese.. any advice?
Thanks for the comment Whitney, appreciate it :)
For the remote, try pushing and holding the OK button until it changes to English.
@@SamsMotors That worked, thx.
SamTheSuave thanks! This is already better controller than the one with only the knob on it.
hi I have brought this heater package could you tell me what im doing wrong because I set the time and set the start time and pressed ok and it goes straight to the second set time rather than off time , could you enlighten me please on what im doing wrong thankyou , Mark
@@SamsMotors initially it would be the latter but saying that camping out in the future may be an option.
Hello, I have identical webasto, but I can not set the activation of heating at a specific time (alarm clock function) you can suggest something, record a movie can do something wrong. Regards
Hi there. Thanks for the video, very helpful. Just got mine running for the first time tonight. I don’t get the option to set the target temperature, after showing the current room temp it shows a hz number. Can you help?
That's actually the down button on the right. But pressing the settings and left arrow does nothing, but switches mode on the old controller
i got the same lcd and I can't change the pulsing thing for Celsius i tried shit load of combination and nothing. how do you change it in this model? settings simultaneously with left? heeeeeeelp😤
great video!
Thanks!
Can you tell me can I get out thermometer from controller, because controller is in cabin and I heat cargo hold in a van? So I can see which temperature of heated space on cotroller in cabin.
I have not seen any listings with that remote. Could you please post a link ? Thx
Hi, please see the link in my other video (Unboxing & Testing). Thanks
SamTheSuave thx
Bro I need help, i've done everything you did in the video but when i start it it shuts down after 5 sec. and comes back on..
also the red plug doesn't appear on screen when i power it on, could it be from the power suply.. it has 12V 1amp
Hi Andrew, 1 amp is nowhere near enough power for one of these. 10 amps would be my recommendation.
@@SamsMotors yep that was the issue thanks
Hello there bud. Can you show how to set temperature from the control panel it's self. A have exactly the same unit & control panel but without the remote. I can't seem to find temperature control on the panel itself. Thanks.
You should be able to adjust temperature by pushing either arrow.
Try filtered used engine oil and diesel 5050 mix even better
How do I get my remote control from manual to automatic ?
I have the same heater as you the same panel but 2 button remote. Can't seem to pair the bloody thing. X thanks.
Great! Thanks!
How do you change the temperature to Fahrenheit? I tried the parameters PF1 to PF6 could not tell what they are for? Original password code was 1668, anyone has a link to an actual User Manual guide? Thanks.
How did you switch on the Bluetooth for the remote mate. I have the 2 button remote control but can't seem to pair it to the panel. Cheers.
Thanks for putting up the video awesome job!
Cheers for watching! Another one coming next week of the full install into my truck.
we managed to set it all up was simple man of your talent would do it half the time
thank you and good help
2 questions, 1 where can i get the red remote? 2 how did you fix the lcd screen to the wall?
There are some sellers online with the red remote on its own - but make sure you have the right type of controller.
I just used double sided sticky foam for fixing the controller.
Hi Sam
Just installed ours after being reassured by your vids... is amazing. I can’t pair the remote though as I don’t know how to change the language on the remote. Can you advise.
Oh and really fab vids. So informative and clear 👍🏻
Hi Gillian, thanks for the comment :)
Hopefully you have managed to pair it by now, but you should be able to change to English by holding the OK button on the remote for ~5 seconds.
Unfortunately I have seen on the Facebook group that some people have been unable to change their remote language - so I presume that some have been manufactured with Chinese as the only language. If that's the case with yours I suggest you contact your eBay seller and ask for a replacement English remote or a suitable refund.
Hold the OK button for a few seconds. It switches back and forth.
Hi, any idea how to change the language on the red remote to English rather than Chinese please?
Hi Can you adjust the temperature while the unit is running on the controler not the remote thanks.
yes ofcourse
Would you recommend this one or all in one units for a garage? Any benefit other than tank sizes? Great video thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video. The translation from Chinese to English is very confusing!
how do you adjust the fuel pump?
Whitney Koeberle Yep. Heater measures altitude and adjusts fuelling to account for thinner/thicker air at different altitudes.
SamTheSuave looks like my controller might be faulty then as I get - 90m when at sea level :(
My ambient temp is ok indoors unit not heated all day case ok ambient goes out + 4 when controller is idle for 20 mins think the thermistor is in the lcd
Can't figure out how to change it from the Hertz to the temperature
Hi Can you tell me the O/D and I/D size of the hot air outlet pipe fitings good video as iI need to get a hole cutter thanks. Jeff
Hi its 75mm on the 5kW and 60mm on the 2kW. Cheers!
Thanks san so a 60 mm hole for a wood panel would be ok.
mine have no phone signal icon?my remote doesn't show any info, temps, etc? Humm?I got it! thx man
I wounder what the brand name is & model # also the size (KW?)
