Can confirm this is the longest section of the movie where someone doesn't drop a "F" bomb. This is a good movie, but there is just no reason for ALL the F's in it. It is a good father/son movie and could be a good family movie but no way am I letting my kids near this movie because of the profanity.

Have you ever worked in a kitchen? If you have, then you know why lol

Good parents don't coerce their kids to like the same things they like. I think the writers meant for this scene to be heartfelt or inspiring, but it honestly just makes this guy look like a really bad father who expects his son to meet him at his level, rather than the other way around. The toxicity of the parenting in this movie is so off-putting.

I disagree on this. It is clear from the earlier scenes in the movie that the son has at least some level of interest in cooking and being in the kitchen. In that context, the dad explaining why he loves it, why it is important, and why it matters to do it right, makes sense. I think the overall point is not specifically to make the kid like cooking. It is to emphasize that the three things the chef mentions are often interconnected in life, especially with work or vocation. It is good to love what you do, and want to be good at it, and part of what makes something worthwhile is that it helps others - "touches peoples lives" as the chef says. But that same element, and the fact that the well-being or happiness of others is at stake, is what makes it important to do it right.

He said it himself. He's sorry for not being a great father but that sentiment alone proves he is trying to be great
I like this scene no yelling whatsoever just serious heartfelt moment
Also he smiles at the end

possibly the worst take on a scene i have ever read. You are the exact problem with todays youth and young adults being so highly incompetent and neurotic
