It was a blast for me, as one of the violinists who played on “Enemy of the State,” to watch Harry at work. My favorite cue was the one we recorded for the collapse of the warehouse. He’s a remarkable talent.
His work in Metal Gear solid was the first time as a kid I had come across music that was so fluid, it changed so smoothly from stealthy to alarmed it perfectly matched the tempo of the game. Sons of Liberty hands down is my favourite and in my opinion one of the best soundtracks ever made, game or movie.
This is really helpful, I am at the beginning of this journey and getting requests to score but hitting walls and hearing that HGW of all people doubted himself at the beginning is encouraging.
saw HGW talking at a festival in Paris. Most interesting composer on stage. Very humble and lots of insights.. and good music ! Oh and he came with his studio on stage ! wich is amazing rather than composers sitting on sofa telling endless anecdotes about directors. I would love to know what he is doing with his tempest ! Saw his on stage in paris and still there in his studio... and it's sitting pretty close to his right hand so.. love the tempest I am super curious what he does with it.
If I ever become a film director and screenwriter, I would hire Gregson-Williams to write an compose a score similar to the score he wrote for "The Town". In-fact, I had a movie idea in mind that was like a crime-drama mixed with a murder-mystery thriller with a masterful and riveting score! There was a scene I had in mind with a score song titled "Leaving" from The Town soundtrack playing in the background especially when it gets to 1:26, best part of the score! Look it up, it's a great score!
I love his work on the film Man on Fire, I think his a brilliant composer. I think his a well sort after composer and any composer that works hard and puts his efforts in his work, should have a great career.
Far as music scoring goes the guy is a frickin' genius. I place him right up there with Han Zimmer, his mentor in the early part of his career. Now he is a veteran composer of movies amyone reading this has seen and my current fav, though I haven't explored most of what he's done, is the Sirens (Track 11) from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. There are many versions here on TH-cam and I have them all on my google+ page but my fav is the one played right along with the sequence from the movie. Check it out. It is magical.
Harry Gregson Williams is one of my favorites. He thinks outside of the box. Much respect for this man.

Fantastic. Loved that film when it first came out. Saw it again recently and it was still cool and very relevant.
Such a humble guy, love his work.
Kingdom of Heaven is my absolute favorite movie soundtrack.
and both me and Harry are born on Dec 13th. ;)
His work on Narnia and Kingdom of Heaven truly blew me away. I loved the electric cello parts he used on Kingdom of Heaven. Totally brill! :)
This was quite a treat! :) Pleased to see one of my musical heroes is so humble.
Thank you for taking the time to film this!
His wonderful score for Dreamworks' "Sinbad" doesn't get enough love.
+Anna Ferrara, I love Gregson-Williams' score to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe as well!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation One of my favorites!!
Legendary score
Agreed

Have you heard the Speed soundtrack? It's really similar, I heard it was used as an inspiration for Metal Gear.
I had no idea he score MGS!
Man on Fire and The Town's scores will always get me near tears. Harry is just a pure composer like Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morocco and John Williams
My favorite Harry Gregson Williams score is The Chronicles of Narnia
One of my favorite film composers for sure and so humble to boot. Thanks so much!
Brilliant guy. Always nice to hear him talk and of course play.

You’re such a great film composer Harry.
Great stuff, thanks for posting. I'm scoring a fantasy film right now and it's always useful to hear other composers feelings behind the process.

My favourite of all time. This composer has it all.... Wish I could meet him some day.
Absolutely Wonderful~~~ Thank You. Just released my own debut album and Ii am looking to get into film score writing.
Spy Game soundtrack is excellent. That's where I learned about him. Then Chronicles of Narnia. I listen to them both while working or studying.
The music he composed in Prometheus is pure genius. Very powerful and uplifting.
He did one track, right?
Ramza Riot I believe it was three actually. I made a suite of all three in my channel. /watch?v=F5XhGGTwVzI

"My Name is Tom" from Spy Game made me discover and love HGW music.
ditto
The Equalizer brought me here. If you are a HGW fan, you NEED this soundtrack in your life.
Brilliant, and honest
ThinkSpaceinterview with Harry Gregson-Williams -- fantastic insights into film scoring, music composing, gaining success.
Sounds like a straight up guy. Thanks for posting.
Kingdom Of Heaven Soundtrack ENOUGH SAID. One of my favorites film composers as well.
Amen brother! That score was awesome! 'Ibelin' is my favourite track!
