As I’m a old man now, I’ll give you Great advice, if it is not broken do not fix it ! You can count on that tip ! It works for everything in your Life . Love your shop. I’ve been running a Marantz 2325 and a Pair of Klipsch k-horns up front with a powered M&K sub, in back I have a pair of Klipsch Belle speakers. I really want to have my Marantz updated. I have always taken it apart and blow it out with a air compressor every few years. It’s all original and I am sure it needs updating, but it’s not broken but in it’s case it could Ben preventive maintenance. I’m scared to ship it. I’m very Happy with it all, as I have it in a double instillated room 24x26 so it breathe very well. At around quarter volume it’s live entertainment. There is always room for improvement with music. Thanks
Hi I've been watching your channel for quite some time now. Thought it's about time I subscribed. I've been into audio since 1972. My first decent system was a Harmon Kardon Citation amp with epi 400 speakers. Loved that system. Moved up to Crown DC 300A/IC150 with ESS AMT 3's. Great for 70's prog rock. I had a party one night and I guess I was playing Pink Floyd's Time a bit too loud. The cop said I woke up the whole town! He said if he had to come back he was taking me AND my stereo to jail! Fifty years later I still own those speakers! I love seeing vintage equipment. It reminds me of a wonderful time in my life. Keep up the good work! John Cain Vancouver Island Canada
Hi Fernando ... As a loyal and regular viewer of the channel, I can only say, that if I look at a gorgeous speaker system, the grills HAVE to be removed to see the full beauty of it! Greetings from good ole Germany ;-)
I'm sitting here at the restoration of my TEAC Z-7000 and watch your videos at the same time... just because it motivates me and gets me into the right mood for such a project 👍
Super cool piece the Z7000. Never had one in the shop but I bet its a complicated restoration with all those features. Good luck and do send a pic when you get it sorted.
After viewing all your segments I was of the opinion you are a perfectionist after your comment in this review.I see you don't tolerate fools lightly regarding the damage on the large speaker cabinets too..😃 Keep up the great work from Down Under.
Hi guys, best shop in the world, forget the Italian shop, yours is real, not fancy smancy, also you guys are not foreigners.. "My heaven" Love itt, keep the best display of hi comming my friend, best regards from England...
Hi Fernando 👋 definitely replace the Wilson grills. I couldn't stop my eyes from staring at them in a bad way. I was relieved to hear that you were considering replacing them. Yeah, trust your first thought or sixth sense. 👍 Thanks for sharing your beautiful shop/store. You have the coolest job in the world! 💯
I jave enjoyed every video on your channel. Im himmin and hawin over buying a new (to me) preamplifier. Ive noticed lately your website shows 0 preamps in the category. I have to search "preamplifier" to bring up your stock. Hope you resolve that issue soon.
Hi Fernando, great video, I can see you're really passionate about McIntosh gear, BUT I'd have loved to hear your take on the ARC SP11 which did not get a mention this time as you went straight past it. Keep up the good work. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Im a big fan of the SP11. My super tube tech Ben keeps putting it off because someone modified the phono section, otherwise it would be sorted and listed already. Once he dives in Ill do a deep report on it.
I always LIKE and am already SUBSCRIBED. Other than women, this is the stuff I drool over. And I LOVE your enthusiasm for it. I don't know why, but when men see other men that have made an occupation out of something they genuinely love doing, it puts a smile on our face. That smile means different things to different people.....but it's there. Cool. Thanks, man.
Hi Richard, I was just saying that to my pal the other day. How I love seeing people do a job that they are good at and enjoy, whatever the job it. We were at the Greenwich car show watching the guy diligently directing folks to the right booth doing a great job.
Good catch. Its my daily BR03-92. Great for work and travel. Someone show down my wrist check on the last video, said it was "presumptuous" so Im a bit shy to keep doing it.
It would be nice to see some of your clients system setup if they are willing to volunteer, just to see how there purchases fit Into their environment and life
Another great video. I love these. I dig the grill cloth on the patrician it looks nice. You do great work. I hope this economy doesn't cause you problems. Ride the coming storm out. And the M3 is awesome too
I hope so too. Already slowed down to a normal level (pre-pandemic). Nice chance to catch our breath and finish a bunch of great projects and enjoy the M3 :-)
Hello, what do you recommend for spade adapters to banana jacks for the vintage McIntosh amps and their tiny [compared to regular spades]screw connectors?
@@SkyFiAudio glad to help, you guys do an awesome job! I have SF grand pianos myself and the Cremona have been on my upgrade list for a while! Just need to save a bit more!
Regarding the Wilsons, I'd just sell them as they are unless the baffles are in bad shape. Lots of buyers would probably remove them anyway. Price should reflect no grills.
ABOUT THE GRILLS.......I love the look of bare speakers. They're so formidable. They're so beautiful. They're so manly. BUT, I also enjoy the protection that comes with the grills, especially when I have friends and their kids over. MY QUESTION TO YOU IS.......do they make a material in witch "you" can use the original speaker's grill frames, but replace the fabric with something that allows one to clearly see the drivers behind it, but at least offers a bit of resistance to a curious toddler's pointer finger?
The grills are made of a sheet of foam so you cant really improve them. They would have to come off completely and replaced. I like the look without the grills too but folks always ask for them if I remove them.
Fernando, I have a question. May be you can help. I have JVC turntable I would like to get recapped and generally some TLC. I live in SF bay area out in California. Would love to get some pointers on where I can get it done. Please let me know if I should email somebody. Thanks
Gee thats a tough one. You have to ask around your local hi-fi shops if they know a guys that works out of his house, does this sort of meticulous repairs. Word of mouth is the way.
Personally, I wouldn't be concerned about the grills on the Wilsons but I can see where someone would say, "well I'm paying for a restored pair of speakers, so the grills should be restored as well".
Thanks for the feedback Jon. Replacing the grills means having to remove all the adhesive which my damaged hands cant take otherwise I would jump right in. Cheers.
@@SkyFiAudio ah, makes sense. I have wondered watching your videos about the braces you wear, nerve injury ? And I imagine by the high standards you and the others at SkyFi have, you would be reluctant to sub the grill repair work out to some other place. You could offer them without grill restoration, I for instance, don’t generally keep the grills on and so if I were interested in them it wouldn’t be an issue.
in the Netherlands where I live, the vinyl hype is already over. A record player is cool but vinyl sucks. after playing 3 times you're back with taps and splashes.

Thanks for watching!
I may never get to this shop but I’m curious when people do come in for the first time how they deal with the awesomeness?!?!?
Folks generally stand a the door with their mouths open. Usually so overwhelmed they dont noticed the car floating in the lift till much later :-).
I can only imagine it being much like a kid at a candy store. 😂
Nice E30 M3 👍 0:36

change for sure

matching the original finish would be sweet on the revox. if the performance is there 😉 nice thorens as well !
Hello, what do you recommend for spade adapters to banana jacks for the vintage McIntosh amps and their tiny [compared to regular spades]screw connectors?
The gold plated ones sold on amazon work really well.
Those Sonus Faber speakers are actually the first Gen Cremona in maple, not grand piano domus. Gorgeous speakers and about twice the price!

Hi Alan. Tends to slow down around tax time and in the summer months. Gives us a chance to catchup.

Yeah the early Wilson grills did look home made indeed. In later version they change to a proper frame with grill cloth.
