Hi there. I'm really fond of the quality of Givi cases despite the higher prices compared to other brands.
The main difference between the MonoLock (very affordable) & MonoKey (more expensive) series, is the thickness/strength of the materials used and the maximum loading capacity.
I started off with a MonoLock top case on my first motorcycle which had a max load of only 3 kg / 7 lbs, and at moderate speed I could feel the wind forces pulling on the case resulting in passed on movements to the subframe of the motorcycle. When opening up the lid, you can easily flex the plastic casing.
On my lastest motorcycle I have a MonoKey top case (twice the price) but the mounting frame, mounting plate and the top case itself, is much more sturdy, little to none flexing of the casing, overall weight of the top case is clearly much more. While riding I really can't say that I notice that I carry the top case or not, even fully loaded or empty at high speeds (+100 mph). So that is how it should be.

Just bought one for a tracer 9 gt.i didn't go for the larger type because I've got the standard yamaha tracer 9 gt panniers.ive got a bell star lid and it doesn't fit in my panniers like my old helmet.with that top box and the panniers I should have plenty of room for my luggage.great review

Monolock is for smaller bikes and scooters and are mostly plastic plates. Monokey is the more sturdy, uses metal plates.

Loaded question: Have you noticed any adverse affects on motorcycle handling with the larger Kappa Box (wind buffeting, crosswind, weight distribution)?

I have the 56n model and I gotta say I'm surprised how I can't even tell it's there. Even at high speeds....

@@ureviews Thanks for the quick reply. My dilemma is whether to buy a 49l or a 40l. There is so much contradicting advice on the internet.

What Motorcycle is it going on? But in general I would say get the biggest one you can get. No body ever said "I have too much space".

ureviews Honda Cb500f. I’m probably just going with a V40 and buying a pair of soft saddlebags. I don’t want to make the bike top heavy or increase the width of the motorcycle, it would look odd.

My brother has the cb600 and he has the givi 56l. The dimensons are not that much different cause volume is in the 3rd power.

The Givi website clearly show the number of helmets that you can fit into the box. Check carefully to avoid the disppointment of this vlogger.
