He is my favorite singer in this season, but honestly for this one, his voice is not as steady as usual. The pressure that audiences have been given him so far might be the reason why he is being so tense this time, but I'm pretty sure that he will be one of the top three in this season.
Am I the only that still found his performance better than the others ? I still keep on repeating this song, it's full of emotions (although the beautiful quality of Lee Sora's song contributes in it). Yes, there were more mistakes than usual but nonetheless, still left me in awe. I am seriously ready to cut a bitch if they kick him out this early. None of the other contestants were able to even chart in the top10, and he went for the FIRST spot twice, Korea loves him and it's going to be ironic as fuck to find the next kPOPstar, when the most POPULAR contestant goes home before less popular who never appeared on the chart stays. He is ONLY 18, you cant expect this kid to perform 100% flawlessly, and he might go home just for being slightly worst but better than 90% of the contestants. I am still glad Sparkling Girls went in, because they are one of my personal favorites, but this guy doesn't deserve anything below top3. I seriously see him as the next greatest ballad artist in Korea of the next generation, his voice reaches all ages. /rant over lol

It's just their way of making situations suspenseful. However, I DO dislike the fact that Sparkling Girls won. Jung Seung Hwan's talent beats them all together after all.

Don't forget that no one understands Jung Seung Hwan unlike LYH. YG and JYP are both producers who are into the big money and big things. Sparkling Girls can become BIG. Many gayo/ballad singers almost never become as well known as girl groups. You could ask many people and they'd probably know who Wonder Girls are. You could then ask many people if they know who people like Choeun or Lyn are, they probably wouldn't.
I think the reason why he only get 2nd place is because his voice cracked in one part at the ending...but still his voice giving me goosebumps everytime he sings. And i know that he still be on top 10 or probably top 4 he's so good to be eliminated.
I hate when people cover this song. The softness of Lee Sora's version just never transcends. Her version (the original) literally tears you to pieces, she even cried performing it and it suits her voice. This is too strong for my tastes. I like him but this wasn't quite it.

It's a shame that he came in second... He sounded really good during the practice with YG, the anxiety and pressure from the popularity really broke him down.. Lee Sora's songs are really hard to sing too;;

This is confusing to me as well. I get that he did a different interpretation than the original singer, but isn't this what he's supposed to do? If you look at the songs he likes, they all have some sort of rock influence. It's not surprising that he took this rough and emotional approach to it. So isn't this just a matter of taste? His voice did crack in one spot, but that's a weak error compared to the performance as a whole. I'm really curious now to what the criticism are. This looks like it's scripted. It may not be, but I'm not convinced that the Sparkling Girls gave a better performance. I think his ranking has to do with their already high expectations. Each time SH does well, he has to one up himself, so their standards for him are ridiculously high.

Does anyone realise that when it comes to battle jyp always win like before round 1 battle of lee hi and jimin, jimin won because she was in jyp then jimin got move to sm and lee hi went to jyp then the 2nd battle lee hi won. JYP kinda always wants his co-jyp to win.
But in terms of success, Lee Hi really is the winner. Even during the show, her covers were the only ones to remain number 1 for weeks. In that regard and with what you said in mind, I think this guy's kpop star journey is going to be like a combination of Jimin and Hi.

La Lax Even he knew he lost the match when he watched the Sparkling Girls performance. You can see it in their video. He was worried as hell. LOL!!! They do this every season. Some of the favorites get pushed to the 2nd round. Just like Sam knocked off The Shorties last season. It works for the show because some of the best people perform twice. Some contestants lose it, when they take an unexpected lost though. So he better hold it together.
I wonder if this song was not his choice but YG's choice? He didn't seem like himself when he sang it. The other songs he's sang seem more like him...or more feeling from the performances of them. Sorry Auntie, its just my opinion. But, my honest opinion is that even if he doesn't win this show YG will sign him. He's been really dropping not so subtle hints...:)

Kimberly M he chose this song by himself. He performed this infront of yg and he did great that's why YG approved of him singing this piece for the battle. If you watch all the kpop star season 1-3 you'll realized they always do this. Put the crowd favorite to a tight spot for drama to attract more viewers.

It's a shame that he came in second... He sounded really good during the practice with YG, the anxiety and pressure from the popularity really broke him down.. Lee Sora's songs are really hard to sing too;;

This is confusing to me as well. I get that he did a different interpretation than the original singer, but isn't this what he's supposed to do? If you look at the songs he likes, they all have some sort of rock influence. It's not surprising that he took this rough and emotional approach to it. So isn't this just a matter of taste? His voice did crack in one spot, but that's a weak error compared to the performance as a whole. I'm really curious now to what the criticism are. This looks like it's scripted. It may not be, but I'm not convinced that the Sparkling Girls gave a better performance. I think his ranking has to do with their already high expectations. Each time SH does well, he has to one up himself, so their standards for him are ridiculously high.
yeah that''s what i think as well and actually they didn't blame him for making it different than the original because it's the same just mannlier but i guess they wanted him to sing it differently which i don't understand how he alreay made it special by singing it from a man's perspective i felt his desperation his longing his pain he touched the hearts what do they want more considering that there is nothing but a piano background his voice nailed it !!i'm still angry as well everytime i watch this performance till our day because i'm reminded of what they said to him !! actually even the voice crack was so good to me because it made it even more painfull like raw emotions
this wasn't his best performance, but, as you keep hearing over and over again for the whole day, even the mistakes sound good, they came at the right moments and made the song sound more sincere and passionate!

But in terms of success, Lee Hi really is the winner. Even during the show, her covers were the only ones to remain number 1 for weeks. In that regard and with what you said in mind, I think this guy's kpop star journey is going to be like a combination of Jimin and Hi.
Yeah all the previous winner were 2nd during battle audition. AKMU, Jimin etc, I wonder if winner from kpopstar 4 will be 2nd too?

Dude should stick to singing masculine songs, this was too reminiscent of Kim Bun Soo's cover. But he deserved first place, Sparkling Girls are just a downgraded version of YouU, and aside from their Beyonce cover everything else was bad.
That's not true. Al though I do agree that Seunghwan did better than Sparkling Girls, it does not mean the girls are bad. A down graded version of YouU? Thanks for the good laugh. Didn't Seunghwan get a free pass to get into the Top 10 last week, though? He really should be in the Top 10.
La Lax Even he knew he lost the match when he watched the Sparkling Girls performance. You can see it in their video. He was worried as hell. LOL!!! They do this every season. Some of the favorites get pushed to the 2nd round. Just like Sam knocked off The Shorties last season. It works for the show because some of the best people perform twice. Some contestants lose it, when they take an unexpected lost though. So he better hold it together.
I wonder if this song was not his choice but YG's choice? He didn't seem like himself when he sang it. The other songs he's sang seem more like him...or more feeling from the performances of them. Sorry Auntie, its just my opinion. But, my honest opinion is that even if he doesn't win this show YG will sign him. He's been really dropping not so subtle hints...:)

His prize for winning the last battle is that YG gets to choose 1 contestant, from those who placed 2nd, to advance into the TOP 10. So we don't know, maybe YG'll use that advantage to bring Seung Hwan into the TOP 10. ^_^
Kimberly M he chose this song by himself. He performed this infront of yg and he did great that's why YG approved of him singing this piece for the battle. If you watch all the kpop star season 1-3 you'll realized they always do this. Put the crowd favorite to a tight spot for drama to attract more viewers.
