Yung isang builder na si “Brad Pit Teh” converted nya lahat pati wiper at gear shifter handle na yan, at yung turn signal lever nilipat din nya..yung baki-baki nya nasa loob din
How come you guys don't shift the windshield wipers to the left side as well? I would believe such an important safety factor would be addressed in the build.......
Maybe they do'nt have yet a good technician to transfer the signal ligth and wipers shifter to the left and rigth sides. Or the technology to transfer. Pag nagawa nila na parang yun sa normal na nga LHD na manibela, mas gugustuhin ng mga customers kasi feeling mo, original manufacture or assembled ang van. Kaya alanganin ako mag bili ng surplus bcoz of this.
The answer is easy. These vehicles are designed for the Japanese domestic market only. There is no provision for wipers set up for left hand drive. Of the Japanese Surplus vehicles that are rebuilt here in the Philippines, only the Scrum and Bongo derived vehicles have provision for wipers set up for left hand drive. Why? Because they are sold in both right hand drive as in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and South Africa, and in left hand drive in other markets. I'm not a mechanic or connected in any way with the car industry. As for the ability to switch to left hand drive, and change the position of the gear shifter, as some rebuilders do, this is because secondary steering gear and gearbox attachment points are built in. My guess is that the dashboards and underlying mechanisms are also used in vehicles which are produced for both left hand drive and right hand drive markets. You insist on wipers set up for left hand drive? Buy a Scrum or a Bongo. However, they are very different vehicles to the Kei vans and cars, and usually very basic. Many of them don't have air conditioning. They are designed to haul many people or a lot of stuff around. Guess what? They have the same engine as the Kei vans and cars. That is, unless you opt for a pickup truck which you can have with a larger diesel engine. How do I know that? We had a dual cab Bongo 4x4 pickup before. I'm telling you it was more trouble than it was worth.
