Hey Man, thanks for sharing. I started following you when researching the GFX 50R and the Mitakon lens. I love your style, even though it’s not my own. I find that to be very interesting how I love your look, but end up not trying to emulate it myself. That’s part of why photography, as an art form, is so fun… thanks again.
Jon, thanks for this lovely video! I own GFX50R paired with GF50/3.5 However I just don’t enjoy the images that come out of this combo. Always was looking towards Mitakon - it seems to create that “medium for at look”. I love how you develop your photos, great presets - almost undistinguishable from film.
So sold on this camera and also, I have to say I really love your approach to your craft. I'm sometimes the one looking for punch in their images and a bucketload of contrast, and this approach says, 'hang on there, one cotton picking moment' (in the nicest possible way) and let the subject do the talking. Well, with a sensor and lens arrangement like this, it's easier. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your skill.
Thank you so much for the walkthrough. I've been searching for a while in how to go for a film look within Lightroom, and that is spot on. Great work. (Also, secretly wishing to buy a GFX50R).
Can you do more of this? This is really amazing! I am debating whether or not to get the mitakon, and this video is really helpful! Even better, if you can make a video of you shooting using the mitakon! Especially showing the focusing process!
Great video, thanks for sharing! Nice to see some of your workflow with this set up. Have been contemplating picking a GFX (currently running a 645Z) because of all the lens adaptations. Seems pretty like you’ve found a solid setup for your work with this. Congrats and keep it up! Will stay tuned for more for sure.
Congrats on your first video, Jon! It is great to see you in TH-cam! I am one of those psychos reaching out on IG to learn about this combo :) I love the look it gives and it is really close to the type if separation I like from the Pentax 105mm for 6x7. I you are searching for ideas: I'd be interested in seeing how you work with your models while doing these sessions, how you shoot on the Pentax 67, and also how other adapted lenses work/look in the GFX. I've heard good things about the Minolta 58mm 1.2, for example and some Voigtlander Noktons with Nikon mount. Greetings from Amsterdam Sebastian
Thanks for the detailed video. I love your work and hope you keep posting on here. Personally, I would love to see some content detailing your philosophy to approaching strangers for photographs or finding people to photograph in general.
Also have 50R and this lens! I like the photos you shoot and edited. They really have film look! Could you please share your presets? I would like to try :-)
How are you compressing the images for web? I use photoshop and export so that they are 2000px max size, with a quality of 8. Buy sometimes the grain that is added seems to not compress very well. Any ideas?

Pretty cool to click on a random youtube video and seeing my presets in use. :-)
Thanks for the video! What can you say about the moire of GFX cameras? Is this really a problem or have you never encountered it? (I read on DPReview about moire on FX50s)
That shot at 14:15 is captivating - great depth, scale and story. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Great video Jon! I would like to listen about the 45mm f2.8 that I know you have it!

Solid work and great info about the files. 50R is def on the radar.

Nice work! I loved the shots of Gary!
Really awesome photography! Please keep posting! I appreciate you sharing about your process
Those images at around the 11 minute mark are amazing! Wow. Interested in that lens now
Easy sub decision. I’ll have to try this lens and make a video on it. These photos are gorgeous

Very nice work . Great combo.
Will you make a video on your change to Nikon/Voigtlander instead of this combo and how it compares?

Thanks for the kind words. I have the Minolta lens and will definitely make another video with it soon!

Amazing! Thank you so much for this content!
My pleasure!
On the last picture - try to use luminance mask. You will be able to more precisely select the sky and nothing else (like the electric pole),
What about shooting close portraits? You use this as well? Funny I shoot with the Pentax 67 atm and am looking for a digital buddy for it.
This is as close as it gets for a digital buddy! I'll try and go over close portraits in the next video. It's really great for that!
@@doomstache do you use a different lens?
Please make preset for Luminar Neo, your work are just the best👏
Haha this your first video? Could have fooled me! Very well done man. SHIT SLAPS. Lol
Hey Jon did shoot these wide open ?
Thanks for the video! What can you say about the moire of GFX cameras? Is this really a problem or have you never encountered it? (I read on DPReview about moire on FX50s)
Definitely not a problem for me! I never notice it. Especially in the style that I shoot
@@doomstache thanks!

yo where's your voice at brother, turn that shit up.
Where is the strap from?
It's an Optech USA strap
Thanks!
Great video thanks Jon. The Dehaze idea is really useful, I’ll definitely give that a try. I found you over on Instagram and dropped you a message.
