I'm using Wondercutter S for about one month now and I experienced similar problem when the blade fixing screw was not tighten properly. It did recognize it. They also recommend to reset the unit after each blade exchange by pressing both the button on the handle and the power button simultaneously for 1 to 2 seconds. Resetting made a big difference my case.

The Wondercutter has a built-in cool down feature to prevent over-heating, that kicks-in after approx. 10 minutes of use. The tool is meant to replace an X-Acto or similar hobby knife for tasks typically undertaken by crafters, teacher, hobbyists, artists, office professionals, students and the like. For those kinds of tasks, it can't be beat!

I can! its actually just paint on the wall. my friend Wes did it and it came out really good.
