my main problem with horror games is that if they are too difficult it makes them less scary, like you get the jumpscare you get all scared on the first time round then you should be able to do it and know how to with a couple of mess ups here and there and be fine for the most part, but it becomes annoying and not scary if i continually die over and over because it is too hard, either that or if i have to actively tryhard to beat a section it might build tension for some but imo it just makes it not scary either because im too focused on not dying to think about the scary part. main reason why similar games like fnaf fall off quick after playing them more than once or twice imo.

I'm not the biggest fan of horror games (because I don't care for the thrill of jumpscares though I understand why others do). However I absolutely can love the tension made by certain scenarios in horror games. Best recent example would be the resident evil 2 remake. I had acquired the missing piece to unlock better items but I was 1 hit from death with only 2 bullets and 1 grenade and I had to go down a hallway that was going to have way more than I care to deal with. I was indecisive at first then Mr X gonna give it to ya was suddenly right on my tail so I had to run. First thing to come around the corner was a zombie. I shot him once to disable him for a second so I could run past. The zombie didn't do much to slow down mr x. Then a damn licker comes crawling on the ceiling from around the corner. There was a doorway that was locked but it provided the desperate space I needed. So I ran full speed to get near the doorway AND get the licker to come after me. Sure enough, it divebombed for me and I barely avoided it and the licker ended up diving into mr x. Then there was a 2nd zombie but the last bullet didn't stun him so the grenade was used. That sucked but holy shit it was so exhilarating when I finally got through that hallway. I freakin loved it.
