    Glad to have found your channel through Chris's. I've been using a bit of the run walk strategy in longer races recently so useful to hear your thoughts on it. Look forward to following along.

    That's a beautiful place to run and it looked like a lovely day for it. Good job testing your run-walk strategy early on. That's the only way to find out what it really feels like!

      Yeap. Hopefully it starts feeling more and more natural.

    R/w/r has been a lifesaver for me! So useful for long distances. Love this park- great scenery to run through! ❤️ 🤓

      Yes. It's very pretty. I should start branching out a bit with my runs. We have beautiful parks around here.

    ....about the pace during the walking sections. My approach would be based on feel. The purpose of the walking part is to recover from the running. In my opinion it is helpful, to just walk comfortable, so not as slow as walking through a shopping mall, just with a tad more purpose, but not power walking to get a certain pace. If during the marathon you both find out, that you have some fuel left in the last third of the run, you could either skip a walking section, or keep the running section 1,2 or 3 minutes longer before walking again.
    Be free, do not restrict yourself with becoming a slave of the clock, take it more as a guideline

      Yeap. We want to make sure we are kind of aligned though with our pace We have never run together. And also, we don't want to go out too fast... we will feel super energized at the beginning. So while I do think pace should be by feel, I think we should agree on an average pace, just to have kind of something to aim for.. a guideline of sorts. Let's say 11:15 to 11:45... that's what I had in my garmin.

      @@IRunThings yes, i only meant to keep the pace on feel during the walking parts. I agree on planning together a pace to the running part

    • @IRunThings
      @IRunThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhh. Ok. Here I was justifying why we wanted to agree on pace. Haha. 😊

    A beautiful state park there Suzie so really lovely views and sites especially with those autumn colours. I think the run walk will work well for you guys it's a really solid strategy. If I get to run London with Katie next year that's what we will be doing. Keep up the great training buddy! 😎🤘🏻

    I’d love to do WDW one day. I used the run/walk strategy during my 50’mile ultra and found it beneficial to relax when walking and focus when running

      Run walk run is an excellent strategy imo for long distance. And 50 miles definitely qualify as such 😊

    Hi Suzie, I'm wondering what headphones you're wearing in this video? Do you like them, do they stay put when you start to get sweaty during a workout? Thanks!

    • @IRunThings
      @IRunThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They stay put, battery lasts 8 hours and they are super comfortable to wear. I forget I have them on, and I use them for work calls too. They are these headphones amzn.to/32aagQ5

    Great video, beautiful park! I’ll always stop a run to pet a dog! 😂 I just used run/walk for my first 100k attempt, and was thrilled with my undertrained, underfueled 45 miles- my longest run ever. And I’m back to running less than 2 weeks later… r/w for the win!

      I go to this park very often nowadays. I love it and there's a ton of people there running and walking so I feel super safe even though there's a ton of trees. I also believe in the run/walk method. It works!
