They're all like 1/3 off the normal line of products. If you're getting 1 of everything, it's a difference of $200, which if you're buying your first setup can be the difference between a mid range GPU and a higher end one
At first glance, that's what I thought too. But looking at the Wave:3 without anything, it's almost double what the Wave:neo is. And the Wave:neo has a big metal stand, which is pretty good, and then later down the line, if you want an arm, then you can get the arm, and attach the Wave:neo to it. And you also the the amazing software from Elgato. Which I use, and love.
the worst deal for the customer should be your first offering. your second deal is best for you and your customer. The third deal is your mega package that only a few crazy ones would want. But the prices for first package should be 100 % cost to value the second package should be 90% costs to value the third package should be 85-90% cost to value.
I think it is easy to forget that older products mean more savings and a fair few second-hand options. My Wave:3 was used, but you wouldn't have known except for a very slightly abused box. Also, it was cheaper than a Wave:1 and came with both pop filter and shock mount. And I got my Stream Deck in a flash sale on Amazon. Not sure we'll see many of those on the Neo range for a while.
Having removable cables is currently cheaper to manufacture than integrated cables. With removable cables you can buy them pre terminated by the lot (economy of scale), making the cable cheaper. This difference easily pays the USB-C connector, which costs 1~1.5 USD for a high quality one (in quantity), and the connector can be soldered to the board on the same process as the other components, not adding to the cost. It is less about cutting costs, and more about making you buy a new product when it's cable eventually fails, as most people are not tech savvy enough to replace the cable.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. The only reason I ever swapped off my Logitech C920 or whatever it's called (the one everyone uses) was because the cable died randomly. I don't know how a webcam that was plugged in for a few years randomly has a dead cable, but it happened. I ended up switching to the Razer Kyo Pro or whatever that one is called. I like it a lot for my needs and the cable is USB-C and replaceable. TBH though that stream deck neo if I get it and the cable dies in a few years, I'm completely okay with trying to solder a new one on myself. It's technically broken E-waste at that point if they don't replace it, so why not just try?
the info screen on the Streamdeck Neo is kinda neat. would be nice if they give us the option to use a normal button as an info screen on the other Streamdecks. Maybe even with an action underneath it. for example it shows the current subscribers on youtube, and when I press the button it opens youtube in my browser.
Honestly I prefer this way over just putting a button on the Deck. I have one on my for time and another for viewers buut for time, it's quite small and I'm sure I could extend it to take up two panels. But now that's two panels gone haha.
Having the page buttons built into the cheapo stream deck really does it for me. Typically I don't need access to more than 6 at a time despite having 18 binds, and I use pages to separate them already. This new 8 button stream deck could certainly be my future keyboard companion as a replacement for a keyboard with macro keys. Haven't dabbled with a streamdeck yet though so I don't know if it's a perfect replacement for icue's macro integration.

Completely forgot about the Snowball mic. Aslo for $50 you can get a c930e in some places, which is much better. But you could also use your phone for free with VDO / OBS ninja. Which I recently realized works better, than my c930e. Key light wise, just get a 24inch china lantern, hands down the best lighting for cheap. Never heard of sammi, but yeah. There's that, touch portal, and stream deck mobile (free on apple but limit on android. Cheap monthly)
I definitely don't think wanting analog controls is an "old person" thing. It's simply more convienant to actually be able to just reach over and change something, rather than having to grab your phone, load up the application, select the light, change the settings, then have to put it away afterward. A dial is just way better.
I just proposed a new product to Elgato that also addresses the target group of content creators including advanced streamers but also trainers, presenters and people in video conferences who strive for high-level quality. I hope if this ever becomes a project they’ll reach out to you for advice during the product development phase.
Something random and unrelated to the topic of the video but I feel like with your cartographer mouse pads you could make a sorta smoke grey and a off-white sorta cream colour one aswell but I'd also love to see some in other colours like maybe pastels maybe like an orange, green, blue, red, pink and purple. Could really fit with more setups and tie in well

Tbh, I would just go to other places for WAY cheaper products like Fifine for the mic; AmpliGame AM8 is a great option with both USB and XLR. Avermedia for the webcam, and again Avermedia for the Capture card, the only thing I suggest is the Stream Deck. If you're gonna stay in the Elgato eco system, the Neo products are great options.
I can understand the usb-A for the light because like you said if this is for the average or new person to streaming it is probably easier to find a brick that accepts usb-A in comparison to usb-C to plug into the wall.
Would love to have a round up of these products compared to the most popular "budget" options. They appear to be a decent value compared to Elgato, but what about compared to other options at these prices?
My only complaint is the color sadly. I tend to go with a primarily black theme so white would clash too much. I'd love to see them in black and possibly a weighted base attachment for the stream deck neo rather than mounting holes.
Just came to a realization that it would be GREAT if they made the capture card a USB Hub, so that you can plug in the Mic, Camera, light and Stream Deck into one place.

Not to be negative cuz, YB? So let's start with a positive. The neo light is great! I am using it as a fill light in my 'lives' work station along with my Elgato Key Light and the even lighting, temperature, and brightness controls that work with Elgato Control Center & Stream Deck, combined with the actual buttons on the light itself are superb. MY 'fix me' on it would be this : My monitors are big and also elevated by a stand, , In order to angle the light down enough to get the coverage I wanted I had to let it fall off my monitor enought times, say enough bad words, and eventually break out the velcro and erm, DUCT TAPE, cuz gravity is still a thing. I would still recommend it, just plan ahead if you need to angle it down more than a tiny bit.
This isn't really that budget. I mean in a lot of instances there is like a $10 difference between these and the more expensive models. Like the Wave 3 mic for instance. This seems like a confusing release. The Stream deck doesn't even have a removable cable which is a huge annoyance. The capture card is basically a last gen 1080p card. Someone compared it to the EVGA xR-1 lite and said the EVGA still provides better value even though it can't be fount at its $59 price point anymore and is usualy closer to $90. I got mine for $35. For $99 you can get a small rig actual light that will probably serve you better then this little led light as well.

Elgato also usually has coupons in addition that you can google for to take like 10 percent off. There is a reason the Wave 1 mic was discontinued. The mic might be the only good thing. Might... You can still get a c930e for close to $50. If you have a modern smart phone you can use it with VDO / OBS ninja for free. If you have an extra old smart phone, you can use stream deck mobile touch portal for little to nothing. Light wise, if you're gonna be in your room, just get a Govee smart build and a 24inch china lantern and you'll have some solid light (I used to use my alienbees, but they take up so much room) plus it saves a lot of space. If you have the budget just get a 4 pack on sale and you'll have an amazing set up. If you need a mic, honestly a $50 deity video mic for your phone could work wonders. Lastly capture card wise, maybe a Vivatar can link could be just fine for $20. For $150 or much less you could have a killer set up. Especially if you know how to use the VDO / OBS ninja controls for your phone. Once you dial in the proper exposure and such, then dial in the lights a tiny bit. You can have something pretty amazing. Or you could just let it use the auto functions and get away with very little light needed!
I currently use a scosche magnetic mount that’s connected to the bottom of my monitor at the suction end and the magnetic end hold my stream deck. So it’s always within my line of site basically and it’s surprisingly sturdy when I need to hit a button. However I’m going to start using that as a MagSafe charging mount and I’m going to inlaying my stream deck into my desk so it sits flush with a nice clean bezel around it. People on Etsy sell kits if you don’t have a printer :) it looks so clean.
As someone who doesn't really focus on live content, Stream Decks have never really felt like a huge value add. If they add an option to have a live sub count on the mini screen, I'd definitely pick one up.
The stream deck new having those page buttons and the time screen makes me want to buy that over the "higher" end stream decks when i finally buy one. Those features along with the lights physical front buttons might be a hint at future refreshes to the regular line tho
The only real advancement of their products that I see here is the Stream Deck. While they already have the Stream Deck mini, the new "buttons" on the Neo are something they need to integrate into all their Stream Decks. I would love dedicated buttons to switch folders and the little display bar has so much potential if they can allow you to customize what it displays. You can already customize Stream Deck buttons quite a bit so I'm not sure why this wouldn't follow suit. But let's be honest, the mic and webcam markets are already over saturated with product options. I don't see the new mic or webcam really making waves in the market. The light is probably the only thing I would consider buying from this product lineup as the front-facing buttons and control knob would be really handy. There's nothing special about the capture card at all so I don't see that being a big seller. I also don't like my hardware to be white, I prefer black hardware but that's just a personal preference.
Not sure if this webcam is any better than C920E for $35 or Anker C200 for $40. The sample you shoot does not look any good. Yes, I see the disclaimer, but then there's no point in the comparison.

USB C connectors are still more expensive because of how much A’s are still held in excess at manufacturers (which is one of the only reasons so many companies haven’t just swapped to C yet) manufacturers push for A connectors unless it’s a higher data transferring product Aka a product that will actually take advantage of a C connection.
Wish they made black versions of this. My office setup theme is darker, but I could definitely use this with work but its going to bug me being off theme
Honestly, I think the keylight is nice. and the Streamdeck .. but the mic, and camera are nothing amazing. It's nice if people want to say "Oh I have all Elgato stuff!" for the street cred (is there streamer street cred?) but otherwise there are options out there that are just as good for around the same price. I'm always looking for good lighting options. Because some of these lights ... yeeesh ... expensive!
I just got paid and thought of buying myself a mic but bow im more excited to get that elgato mic, lighting and stream deck. The camera i have a nexigo but idk if i need to up the cam to a new one but i definetly need a new mic.
I'm not really a streamer or have any experience with decks so I would be interested in the Neo deck just to get use to one and to see how I like them.
I actually wanted a way to use my gaming laptop as a monitor to connect my console to it without any extra input lag because i dont have a monitor with HDMI input but all capture cards have high input delay so i thought this was just not a thing. Now im hearing you say just get a UVC Capture Card?! I never heard of this before.

I started wondering what happened to the Wave 1, realized it was discontinued some time ago, and then realized the Wave Neo is technically its replacement. Didnt get to test it out this time around but maybe eventually we'll see!
I have a Wave 1 i liked the Sound Quality alot more then the Neo but i have a Broken Stand so i quit using it i broke it the day i got it which sucks but the stand was made of Plastic aswell it broke while i was trying to get it adjusted and pointing towards me
the Deck is definitely one im considering, i do wish it was black though.... it will be very out of place among the all black stuff i have on my desk. But way better than me having to remember whats on my keyboard's G keys at any given moment

if not already in the works i'd like to see an in depth comparison between the facecam neo and other budget options. preferably once the product is ready for consumers. camparing unfinished firmware to mature products wouldn't be fair.
I think they added that combo of cables so for example you can plug the light into like old USB power adapter while not loosing USB plug in your computer and USB-C since most of the new laptops sport like one or two USB-C plugs
If you want to be a content creator or have a remote job where you want to sound and look nice during presentation, this is good. Price is not bad and you get decent quality. Is it for the mainstream gamer without a job? Nope. And it should not be. Starting a business is about investing and saving
Although that webcam kinda looks oversharpened in his demo, it's gonna look totally fine in a corner of the screen, where it's probably going to be most of the time...
You've only got 6 buttons on your XL programmed? That's wild to hear. Using a 15key deck, I have 14 Profiles nested in Pages of buttons where at least 3 of those use all 10 pages. The only reason I don't have more is I haven't had the time. I do add a button or two a week though.
Nice concept making entry level tiers so people can test some products, since most of the value for elgato products is on the software. I really think is NOT cheap, but better priced than the regular ones, designing your products without a detachable cable is just mean in 2024, the production cost is negligible (probably pannies)
I'm lookin forward to seeing where the webcam stands once finished and polished. I still stand tried and true to the Anker PowerComf C200 for around $60 tbh.
Honestly, the stream deck NEO seems to be the best value out of the bunch, the face cam NEO could be good depending on the final product but at least for now you can find the regular face cam used/renewed for under 100 so I'd just go with that. I like the analog controls of the NEO light but for 100 you could get a better value going for a light from Neweer which are bigger often cheaper and also have stream deck compatibility.
All of those could've been around $50 per item for much better value since state of streaming overall around the world is quite scuffed atm. I'll wait.
Also helps that Elgato is moving to only selling their products online on their own website in most of the world to cut down costs. Easy way to make products cheaper.
Really the price difference isnt THAT large between this new "budget line" and their normal wave mics, or streamdeck mk2, etc. Throughout the year you can find the normal line on sale for these prices if not lower too

Camera.. so far.. doesnt look any better than a logitch cam. We'll see if they fix it. The mic... Why would i get that when other similar priced options are available like the RØDE NT-USB Mini or the Blue Yeti USB? Might need an audio comparison. The light is... 'ok'. But what id like to know is, when plugging it in your PC.. 1, does it get enough power from the USB port? (do they say not to plug it into a pc?) If so, can you control it via software without connecting the light to the network?

That Stream deck neo is a huge W, the mini has too little buttons. They definitely needed one in between the mini and regular stream deck

I have to think that the webcam is not competing against other webcams, but rather against the Macbook webcam.

You must have an earlier Stream Deck because I have the MK.2 and that cable is removable.

Light wise, if you're gonna be in your room, just get a Govee smart build and a 24inch china lantern and you'll have some solid light (I used to use my alienbees, but they take up so much room) plus it saves a lot of space.
If you have the budget just get a 4 pack on sale and you'll have an amazing set up.
If you need a mic, honestly a $50 deity video mic for your phone could work wonders.
Lastly capture card wise, maybe a Vivatar can link could be just fine for $20.
For $150 or much less you could have a killer set up.
Especially if you know how to use the VDO / OBS ninja controls for your phone. Once you dial in the proper exposure and such, then dial in the lights a tiny bit. You can have something pretty amazing.
Or you could just let it use the auto functions and get away with very little light needed!
I currently use a scosche magnetic mount that’s connected to the bottom of my monitor at the suction end and the magnetic end hold my stream deck. So it’s always within my line of site basically and it’s surprisingly sturdy when I need to hit a button. However I’m going to start using that as a MagSafe charging mount and I’m going to inlaying my stream deck into my desk so it sits flush with a nice clean bezel around it. People on Etsy sell kits if you don’t have a printer :) it looks so clean.
I know that people need a start on the cheap cheap, but this gear looks like it was made by Fisher Price.
As someone who doesn't really focus on live content, Stream Decks have never really felt like a huge value add.
If they add an option to have a live sub count on the mini screen, I'd definitely pick one up.
The stream deck new having those page buttons and the time screen makes me want to buy that over the "higher" end stream decks when i finally buy one. Those features along with the lights physical front buttons might be a hint at future refreshes to the regular line tho
The only real advancement of their products that I see here is the Stream Deck. While they already have the Stream Deck mini, the new "buttons" on the Neo are something they need to integrate into all their Stream Decks. I would love dedicated buttons to switch folders and the little display bar has so much potential if they can allow you to customize what it displays. You can already customize Stream Deck buttons quite a bit so I'm not sure why this wouldn't follow suit. But let's be honest, the mic and webcam markets are already over saturated with product options. I don't see the new mic or webcam really making waves in the market. The light is probably the only thing I would consider buying from this product lineup as the front-facing buttons and control knob would be really handy. There's nothing special about the capture card at all so I don't see that being a big seller. I also don't like my hardware to be white, I prefer black hardware but that's just a personal preference.
Not sure if this webcam is any better than C920E for $35 or Anker C200 for $40. The sample you shoot does not look any good. Yes, I see the disclaimer, but then there's no point in the comparison.

@@CodeVenomSnakes Right, but why should anybody care? The review is here. The only conclusion I can make from it is that camera is garbage for the money. And I am not sure why you think resolution matters, Full HD is totally fine. It depends on how it looks. C200 is 2K btw.
USB C connectors are still more expensive because of how much A’s are still held in excess at manufacturers (which is one of the only reasons so many companies haven’t just swapped to C yet) manufacturers push for A connectors unless it’s a higher data transferring product Aka a product that will actually take advantage of a C connection.

Honestly, I think the keylight is nice. and the Streamdeck .. but the mic, and camera are nothing amazing. It's nice if people want to say "Oh I have all Elgato stuff!" for the street cred (is there streamer street cred?) but otherwise there are options out there that are just as good for around the same price.
I'm always looking for good lighting options. Because some of these lights ... yeeesh ... expensive!

I actually wanted a way to use my gaming laptop as a monitor to connect my console to it without any extra input lag because i dont have a monitor with HDMI input
but all capture cards have high input delay so i thought this was just not a thing.

I started wondering what happened to the Wave 1, realized it was discontinued some time ago, and then realized the Wave Neo is technically its replacement. Didnt get to test it out this time around but maybe eventually we'll see!
I have a Wave 1 i liked the Sound Quality alot more then the Neo but i have a Broken Stand so i quit using it i broke it the day i got it which sucks but the stand was made of Plastic aswell it broke while i was trying to get it adjusted and pointing towards me

if not already in the works i'd like to see an in depth comparison between the facecam neo and other budget options. preferably once the product is ready for consumers. camparing unfinished firmware to mature products wouldn't be fair.
If it's open to devs, I would immediately change the fonts. I mean, I am the guy who will code that, not just a user who wants that.
I think they added that combo of cables so for example you can plug the light into like old USB power adapter while not loosing USB plug in your computer and USB-C since most of the new laptops sport like one or two USB-C plugs
If you want to be a content creator or have a remote job where you want to sound and look nice during presentation, this is good. Price is not bad and you get decent quality.

You've only got 6 buttons on your XL programmed? That's wild to hear. Using a 15key deck, I have 14 Profiles nested in Pages of buttons where at least 3 of those use all 10 pages. The only reason I don't have more is I haven't had the time. I do add a button or two a week though.
Nice concept making entry level tiers so people can test some products, since most of the value for elgato products is on the software. I really think is NOT cheap, but better priced than the regular ones, designing your products without a detachable cable is just mean in 2024, the production cost is negligible (probably pannies)

Honestly, the stream deck NEO seems to be the best value out of the bunch, the face cam NEO could be good depending on the final product but at least for now you can find the regular face cam used/renewed for under 100 so I'd just go with that. I like the analog controls of the NEO light but for 100 you could get a better value going for a light from Neweer which are bigger often cheaper and also have stream deck compatibility.

Really the price difference isnt THAT large between this new "budget line" and their normal wave mics, or streamdeck mk2, etc. Throughout the year you can find the normal line on sale for these prices if not lower too

The mic... Why would i get that when other similar priced options are available like the RØDE NT-USB Mini or the Blue Yeti USB? Might need an audio comparison.
The light is... 'ok'. But what id like to know is, when plugging it in your PC.. 1, does it get enough power from the USB port? (do they say not to plug it into a pc?) If so, can you control it via software without connecting the light to the network?
90$ for a microphone and 100$ for a webcam is NOT cheap.
That is normal for today price but you can get webcam cheaper then that but only at 1080p 30fps
@@CodeVenomSnakes While that may be true, not many people actually need a 60fps web cam. Also you can get 200$ phones with better cameras than what these 100-200$ webcams offer. So 100$ isn't still isn't cheap it still is too much, it should cost 50-60$ at the most.
