Great review. It is so interesting how foundation formulas react differently on each of us. I am 63 yo, was an oily gal when younger but now “normal”. Bought the NARS Light Reflecting foundation and a couple weeks prior bought the CT Beautiful Skin. Liked the CT formula very much; however, the NARS formula is far superior imo. Like you say, a little goes a long way. The finish looks so natural on me, not exceptionally glowy. Radiant yes, but not overly shiny and wears well even without powder. NARS does not emphasize imperfections, the lightweight formula is easy to apply (I use fingers then pounce with a sponge) & totally makes my skin look the best it has ever looked. CT is heavier and is apparent on my skin, with or without primers. The finish is nice but not as natural or elegant as NARS. NARS did not oxidize, but since shades were selling out, the one I selected is too light. Bronzer helps. CT had the same shade limitation and I bought 3Cool. It is a good match initially but oxidizes. I am going to experiment with blending the two. I hope they play well together!
Hello. I just tried and purchased this foundation and have gotten complimented on my skin every time I’ve worn it! This purchase was made in desperation after trying Estée Lauder, Cover Girl, No 7, Bare Minerals, just to name a few. So many foundations have been oxidizing quickly on me, despite the $$$.🤷🏼 The color match (Mont Blanc) for me was stunning-I tested it out in direct daylight. I also loved the coverage and it lasted over 8 hours with no transfer. I used no primer before, just my usual moisturizer and no setting powder. That said, I’m 69, with normal skin, an age spot on my left cheek, some visible pores, some ancient acne scarring and I follow a consistent daily skin care routine for mature skin. Maybe it’s more for older skin that is dry. The radiance is a bonus for me and there was no shiny mess. Matt foundation has a terrible effect on me….guess it’s ok and popular with younger people, but sometimes I think some of it looks so unnatural. I love this foundation,i have combo skin, oily in the T Zone and normal everywhere else and its been lovely, i really like the Nars soft matte foundation and i have mixed these two together aswell and thats a great combo, so if people have the soft matte and thought it was to much but don't want to waste it then try this combo, i love both of these foundations, the light reflecting foundation is a winner for me
I ordered this after watching a few reviews where they were Gaga over this. I may end up mixing it with my Cle de Peau radiant matte. We’ll see. Thanks Gemma.

As I am working my way through my stock of four foundations I don’t plan to buy anymore soon, however, I do wish to try these light, dewy foundation out, so the honest opinion that you give is divine. Looking forward to next Friday. On a different note, took the plunge and ordered some Rephr brushes.
I didn’t love it tbh. I also wasn’t blown away by the Charlotte Tilbury one but I prefer that over the Nars. Im 41 with combo skin and neither wore particularly well on me. I have just bought the Dior Matt which I wasn’t expecting much of but wanted a more long wearable foundation and it’s stunning! Has a lovely sheen to it I wasn’t expecting but lasts on my skin. Love your reviews and as always a great one with this 😊
Yeah this did not hold up on my combo skin all day either but oddly only in the places where I have drier skin, the oily areas looked better with wear. Very confused by this foundation but I don’t have to wear powder with it which I love.
I agree no more dewy foundation I have 3 that’s plenty. The Estee L and Urben D L’Oréal. That’s plenty. I need to get a shade match for Nars the matte is it full coverage. My Sephora doesn’t carry all shades they’re to orange
I liked the Nars foundation much more than the Charlotte Tilbury. One day it looks nice but the next, meh! Like you said, I don't reach for it every day. I have mature, normal skin with small dry areas here and there. My favorite foundations are still Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Matte and Dior Face and Body. I'm going to try the Chanel Ultra Le Teint (even though it's not new) that arrived today. And, I have the new Kosas foundation ordered.
How many foundations does Nars intend to release! The problem I have with Nars, it to find a shade that isn't so yellow it makes me look jaundiced! Thank God for Mrs. Melissa's TH-cam channel recommendation of LA Colors white and blue pigments!
Is it just me or has anyone experienced this foundation not drying down? It stays tacky on me all day. I’ve tried it with and without sunscreen. I used a light moisturizer so I can’t imagine that’s causing it to remain tacky. With that being said it felt very light on my face. I also think it’s a little shiny for me. Taking mine back.
Yes, it's the same for me. I don't even have oily skin, but even with a setting powder, this one makes me look like a grease-ball all day, and it settles in my fine lines and highlights uneven texture no end!
Nars sheer glow foundation,i think i was saying sheet glow idk whatever,its sheer glow not sheet glow lol anyways i do like it 4 my dry aging skin,im not sure wat the difference is between this Nars light reflecting foundation & the Nars sheer glow that i have,if any1 has them both maybe u kno the difference bc it almost sounds like Nars made2 very similar foundations? This foundation breaks up on my nose and chin and I’ve never had that happen with any of my nars foundations. I have normal skin sensitive skin. I hated it but I love nars.
I have combo skin and this is stunning on my skin and lasts a 12 hr shift. I always use a powder regardless, its one of my faves atm and looks very natural on the skin. I think dry skin ppl would prefer something more dewy. X

I think it would be very useful if you could create a list of the colours of each of the foundations that you use, not only for the latest ones, which you have promised in your next video, but some of the more long-standing classic ones. Then anyone who uses the same as you in one brand, has a good idea which to pick in another. Hang on....wait.... that would mean more buying 🤣 Keep up the good work ❤️

I've just tried this with no primer. I found it sunk into fine lines and showed my pores up something terrible (I have combo skin), and made my skin look a bit dry, even though I don't have dry skin. Didn't seem to break apart over time or oxidise. Cle De Peau Natural foundation is still my HG

Gemma, how does one know if a primer is silicone based? Or a foundation? I've discovered that the different foundations I've been using lately aren't lasting as long as they used to. The only thing I've done differently is using a couple of different primers.
I haven’t anyone who doesn’t like it. Most like you say it’s beautiful and very nice. My skin typically doesn’t get along with NARS foundations, they usually cause painful breakouts.
Nice review! I absolutely love this foundation. I have mature, combo skin. My favourite thing is I can use one pump and get a sheer but effective coverage that looks so natural. I always use LM loose setting powder with it (very lightly) and UD setting spray. I found a perfect shade for me (Deauville) and it doesn't oxidize at all, which I have found other Nars foundations to do in the past. This is the best foundation I have ever used.
I’m your mothers age with very dry skin and I really love this foundation. It never looks glowy on me, but I do use powder. It lasts a really long time without separating. I also like good coverage. It just works on my skin.
For me, one pump applied with fingers works best, sinks right in to the skin and looks so natural and skin like. It is so lightweight. I really love it. My skin is normal/ slightly dehydrated. I've found a fantastic shade match in yukon, which doesn't match in any of the other nars foundations so best to test, even if you already have a shade in another nars foundation.

I can’t wear anything dewy I’ll look like a sopping greasy mess. I’m still looking for a more matte that won’t dry me out around my nose . I’m using L’Oréal serum right now still oily.
I just purchased this foundation and so far I like it. But I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. I keep going back to my Ilia foundation/skin tint.

It was way too shiny on my normal to dry (but shiny, go figure) skin. The next time I tried it I mixed it half and half with the NARS Radiant which is too matte on me. The combo is perfect.

I'm really curious as to how this holds up against the l'oreal serum foundation. The l'oreal is my favourite foundation at the moment but I'm curious about this too. I can't imagine any foundation being better or more beautiful than the l'oreal one.

This one makes me look like a greasy mess! It's not a patch on the Nars Sheer Glow, Soft Matte or their discontinued All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (which was much more smoothing), and it's not at all long-wearing. I cannot understand the hype surrounding this one.
I jus tried that foundation yesterday & at 1st i thought it looked pretty good on my skin but after a couple of hrs i didn't like the way it looked & i couldn't pinpoint y,so thats y i watched this video 2 bc i have dry skin also,& i think wat u said is true & y i didn't like it yesterday,u said it wasnt as natural looking as other hydrating foundations & it was higher coverage, maybe that was the problem i was having bc wen i got hme last night i jus remember looking in the mirror 2 check my makeup & really not liking wat i saw & wanting 2 wash it off immediately,i prefer light 2 med.coverage verging on the light side & it has2 look natural & skinlike & i jus wasnt getting that from this foundation i also prefer a more glowy look bc of my dry skin & it looked matte 2 me,i kno alot of people wil disagree with me bc b4 i bought it i watched some reviews on it & so many people said it looked natural & was like a drink of water 4 their skin,im not sure y really but that was not the experience i had with it,i hate buying foundations & being disappointed with them bc that can get expensive so i think fron now on no matter wat reviews say im gonna just stick with the foundations that r tried & true 4 me, bc how many foundations does a person need anyways probly not more than 2 or 3 so il just stick 2 wat i kno bc more often than not most others i try i dnt like & its costly
I hated this foundation. Too too dewey for me. It looked fabulous at the beginning - powdered- but at the end of the day it was a yucky mess. Also transferred like crazy. I’ll stick to my Charlotte Tillbury Beautiful Skin. Returned the Nars - I really wanted to like it, let alone love it.

I think this foundation doesn’t look good on my texture skin that I have. I don’t think that this foundation is the worst that I have tried but also not my favorite also. It’s not working out on my mature dry with some texture skin.
I don't understand the pricing of this foundation compared to the soft matte complete foundation. You get 50 ml with that one, so if you do the math, this one costs twice as much! Thanks for the review.

I waited for this one to come out in the UK over the CT one based on the reviews. I’m so pleased I did. The Nars stays looking fresh from early morning to night time and I have combination skin my forehead didn’t look greasy all day. I’d highly recommend the Nars! I bought in the shade Saltzburg I don’t find it orange and it hasn’t oxidised so far. I’m finding using a sponge to apply it gives a better finish than brush or fingers.
I’m so so fed up with dewy foundations. What about us with oily complexions. There’s too few to use and even Tom Ford traceless stick (oil free) - still makes me have to blot every 2 hours. And yes I powder

Just a "rule of thumb", silicone based foundations require silicone based primers and water based foundations required water based primers. Apparently mixing the two doesn't work (🤷♀️). I must be the only one on the planet that did not care for this or the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation. It made my skin show texture and made my skin look drab. I am 70 years old with good skin very clear and smooth and normal. I am glad I was able to get samples from Sephora before plunking down the money.
I doubt it Dawne. As I get older, regardless of how beautiful a radiant/dewy foundation looks, I still prefer a natural matte. I’m going to be doing a radiant vs matte full face soon for an experiment. Might be interesting xxx
I’m only 55 and I too don’t care for the CT Beautiful Skin foundation. It’s too thick and tacky for my liking and too shiny in a weird way. It emphasised every pore and made my face look drained after a couple of hours and I too have very clear skin apart from the usual natural smile lines and fine forehead wrinkles. I couldn’t get it to stop being tacky and sticky even with powder. Not for me either.
This is a beautiful foundation & so many are raving over it. I love the color/shade Gobi on you best in previous Nars foundation reviews. I definitely will be trying this.

Hate wearing powder. I also prefer light foundations that are buildable to a medium. Not for me.

I have tried many foundations lately. This is one of my favorites. I have very mature slightly oily skin. I don’t usually use primer. I love this one.

Check the ingredients, usually if it ends in ‘cone’ it’s a silicone xxx

I just purchased this foundation and so far I like it. But I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. I keep going back to my Ilia foundation/skin tint.

It was way too shiny on my normal to dry (but shiny, go figure) skin. The next time I tried it I mixed it half and half with the NARS Radiant which is too matte on me. The combo is perfect.

I'm really curious as to how this holds up against the l'oreal serum foundation. The l'oreal is my favourite foundation at the moment but I'm curious about this too. I can't imagine any foundation being better or more beautiful than the l'oreal one.
If you enjoy the L’Oréal that much don’t worry about it. It’s at least $20 cheaper so save your coin girl 😂!

I’ve just purchased this foundation in Santa Fe and waiting for it to arrive, just hope the shade is right. I have combination skin so I’m hoping I’ll like it. So interesting how different foundations suit different people depending on skin type. Although you were not over the moon about this one it did look beautiful on your skin🥰💜

This one makes me look like a greasy mess! It's not a patch on the Nars Sheer Glow, Soft Matte or their discontinued All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (which was much more smoothing), and it's not at all long-wearing. I cannot understand the hype surrounding this one.

I jus tried that foundation yesterday & at 1st i thought it looked pretty good on my skin but after a couple of hrs i didn't like the way it looked & i couldn't pinpoint y,so thats y i watched this video 2 bc i have dry skin also,& i think wat u said is true & y i didn't like it yesterday,u said it wasnt as natural looking as other hydrating foundations & it was higher coverage, maybe that was the problem i was having bc wen i got hme last night i jus remember looking in the mirror 2 check my makeup & really not liking wat i saw & wanting 2 wash it off immediately,i prefer light 2 med.coverage verging on the light side & it has2 look natural & skinlike & i jus wasnt getting that from this foundation i also prefer a more glowy look bc of my dry skin & it looked matte 2 me,i kno alot of people wil disagree with me bc b4 i bought it i watched some reviews on it & so many people said it looked natural & was like a drink of water 4 their skin,im not sure y really but that was not the experience i had with it,i hate buying foundations & being disappointed with them bc that can get expensive so i think fron now on no matter wat reviews say im gonna just stick with the foundations that r tried & true 4 me, bc how many foundations does a person need anyways probly not more than 2 or 3 so il just stick 2 wat i kno bc more often than not most others i try i dnt like & its costly

I hated this foundation. Too too dewey for me. It looked fabulous at the beginning - powdered- but at the end of the day it was a yucky mess. Also transferred like crazy. I’ll stick to my Charlotte Tillbury Beautiful Skin. Returned the Nars - I really wanted to like it, let alone love it.

I found a Trad, old School Foundation... Guerlain Parure Gold. Old school and just right for my ancient skin. It has a delicious scent. I'm astonished.

I think this foundation doesn’t look good on my texture skin that I have. I don’t think that this foundation is the worst that I have tried but also not my favorite also. It’s not working out on my mature dry with some texture skin.

I don't understand the pricing of this foundation compared to the soft matte complete foundation. You get 50 ml with that one, so if you do the math, this one costs twice as much!

I waited for this one to come out in the UK over the CT one based on the reviews. I’m so pleased I did. The Nars stays looking fresh from early morning to night time and I have combination skin my forehead didn’t look greasy all day. I’d highly recommend the Nars! I bought in the shade Saltzburg I don’t find it orange and it hasn’t oxidised so far. I’m finding using a sponge to apply it gives a better finish than brush or fingers.

Just a "rule of thumb", silicone based foundations require silicone based primers and water based foundations required water based primers. Apparently mixing the two doesn't work (🤷♀️).

I must be the only one on the planet that did not care for this or the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation. It made my skin show texture and made my skin look drab. I am 70 years old with good skin very clear and smooth and normal. I am glad I was able to get samples from Sephora before plunking down the money.
I doubt it Dawne. As I get older, regardless of how beautiful a radiant/dewy foundation looks, I still prefer a natural matte. I’m going to be doing a radiant vs matte full face soon for an experiment. Might be interesting xxx
I’m only 55 and I too don’t care for the CT Beautiful Skin foundation. It’s too thick and tacky for my liking and too shiny in a weird way. It emphasised every pore and made my face look drained after a couple of hours and I too have very clear skin apart from the usual natural smile lines and fine forehead wrinkles. I couldn’t get it to stop being tacky and sticky even with powder. Not for me either.
Would be wonderful if Sephora was in UK!

This is a beautiful foundation & so many are raving over it. I love the color/shade Gobi on you best in previous Nars foundation reviews. I definitely will be trying this.
