hmmm,... Namba is not the safest of districts,... especially with purse-snatching. Regarding directions in Osaka, if you speak Japanese, just ask any local,... I would only do this in Osaka because strangers are happy to talk to me. Anyway, one of my relatives live in Osaka but very close to the castle. If you go to Namba Jinja (not the one with the silly large lion's head) you will find a very special camphor tree which survived the Pacific War bombings. If you touch it you are said to get energy.
