70% of WW kayaking is a mental game. Its SO easy to put yourself in a bad mind set and self sabotage. But as I always say to people who are doing redemption laps or just getting over a mental block. "turn off your mind. Let the lizard brain do the work." Your body and subconscious know what it needs to do to survive things. If you have the skills then the brain knows what to do. Sometimes something as small as singing to yourself whilst on the river can put your consciousness at ease. I sing to myself on almost every river and thats due to having a very noisy mind so quietening it down just a little bit makes a massive difference. Keep smashing it Jer.
Totally agree! The mental game is so much more important that i think many people realize! I too, sing sometimes to myself on a river haha! It really helps! Thanks for watching! :) -Jer
DUDE THAT WAS AWESOME! At 40+something I look up to you and your advancement in this sport ! Hoping to get into more challenging waters this year 2023! Hope to maybe meet you guys out there!stay safe!
Wilson's is my nemesis. I've never finished it, I've swam tons of times. I've pulled my ass up the side of the gorge every time I stopped. My goal this year is to finish it without swimming, just once, at any level, I don't care. Maybe I'll see you at the wwc.
Angielski I like to hear about your adventures, thanks to you I can see that everyone can overcome their weaknesses, not only on rivers. Regards Wojtek
Really enjoy your videos. I don't have the time to really invest to progress my skills but seeing your quick progression give me hope. Lol. A hope that when I finally do have the time I'll be just fine. Come paddle some more rivers in West Virginia!
Just got it recently! So far, I'm in love with it! Still getting used to the height and putting a boat on top is a little more effort than I'm used to! I got 24-25 before I put the roof rack on two days ago. Haven't had a chance to see what it will drop to, but I assume around the 21-22 range
@@jehu-kayak yup! awd and manual trans! I'm building it out to be a mini camper. If we end up running into each other on the water sometime I'll show you
At 8:21 you said Wilson Creek defeated you. You're wrong. You didn't just paddle it, you HAND PADDLED it, and you finished. The river didn't defeat you, you defeated it. All these other trips are just you kicking the river's ass even harder. Keep at it!
