    This is a really good channel. You are on the hardest part of the climb up the TH-cam ladder but you are clearly awesome at editing, your content is good, and You have a great personality. Very relatable. Keep at it and muscle through burnout. This is good stuff and presented very well. Based on editing, I assume you do something video related in real life? Subscribed.

      Hey Bryan, thanks for all the kind words! Actually, the most I've ever done video-wise was take 2 media classes in high school where we learned the video making process, but since then, I've just done it because I thinks its lots of fun and I've been slowly improving with every video. The great thing is that my goal really isn't to "climb the TH-cam ladder", its to share my experiences and hopefully inspire and educate anyone who cares to listen. Hopefully not having goals on numbers of viewers or subs helps stave off the burnout as (and you probably know this better than most) making videos can take lots of work. Thanks again!

    I’m always amazed how many people make Idaho back country their flying destination. I grew up there so it wasn’t any big deal to me. But people always tell me how lucky I am to have grown up in those mountains. If ya make it back out this way (I’m in western Montana now) look me up, it would be fun flying with ya.

    • @AverageAviator
      @AverageAviator  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely will if I get out there again. The one thing I am going to touch on in the 3rd episode is how when I got out there, it was like a family of people on the ground. At every airport out there, you could walk up and chat with anyone and everyone and they were all great people. Its an amazing experience compared to airports I've experienced in the rest of the country, its like every day is a fly-in. I loved it!

    My very first GA ride was in a 20C on my birthday when I turned 50, 16 years ago. My friend took me through the VFR Corridor up the Hudson River overlooking NYC. It was so cool and then he said how about taking the yoke and turning us back to Wings? He guided me through my first turn, got me on our heading, and 1-2-6 we were on approach to Wings in Fort Washington, PA. He had a partner in the plane. He said best bang for your buck is Mooney: fast, efficient, and with auto-pilot the best x-country plane for both business and personal. My first landing was the Mooney's land low. I thought my fanny was going to rub the tarmac.

Once I have the complex I am hoping to serious begin shopping. There is a "J" available for this transition training about 40 minutes by car at one of our local airports. We recently did an annual on a newly acquired c150 and the mags had around 1200 hours on them without any 500 hour service on them.

    • @AverageAviator
      @AverageAviator  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how many hours were on the mags, I think around 1000 or so, but from the tags the last they had been overhauled or repaired was the late 70s so they lasted a while.

    Hi Travis, The Mooney aircraft is the most efficient aircraft I know of... I operated mine from 1991 through 2008 flying myself in business all over. I'm getting my aircraft habit back after 13 years of inactivity with aviation. Been busy with other projects that didn't require travel. Mooney in Kerrville, Tx have sold. According to a Mooney service center in Longview, Texas KGGG Longview Regional Airport. Parts are available still. For single engine piston petrol propulsion that 180 Horse Lycoming never let me down... I bought and sold new & used aircraft from 1992 ~ 1999... Wrong fasteners in the machines were always the first thing I looked for when making trades... Thanks for sharing your adventures... Happy Easter... Best Wishes... Cheers

    Hello from Sydney, Australia
    FIRST THOUGHT
    After seeing your video recently: you stripped back the paint from the top surfaces of the Mooney.
    It's great to see this next episode.
    CROSS COUNTY HIGHER STRESS
    You were challenged to remove that sheared bolt. If you can: soak in penetrating oil or apply heat before trying (one or the other)?
    The smell of oil, before the failure and leaking out. That is interesting to note, did you notice a drop in oil pressure or spray of oil over hoses?
    Magnetos and indicating zero reading. Are you Bendix or Slicks
    (I think @ $500.00 per Mag).
    Gas Leak after work done with the A&P. Older engines and their accessories get harder with years. After work is carried out and parts are "moved aside to get the access" then there is an effect on something (craking) and the fuel line at the firewall? Glad you decided to test pattern/circuit.
    Anyways.... What I'm saying is "that will put hair on your chest and bank account.
    🎚🍷Blue Skies
