Don't pull mobs with a nuke, pull with mala, interesting to see your take on mages (aka best class). A lot was left out for a true newbie to grasp the phenomenal cosmic power that mages have :)
Yeah I usefully box my mage with my necro so the necro pulls didn’t even think about malo. :/

@@hammackj that is what I am doing now...mage-necro-bard ....at higher levels how would you compare mage dps to necro dps? How about the pets? I am parsing the lvl 90 pets right now, both with max pet AAs and it takes 2 necro pets to really equal one mage pet in damage. Up until the last patch or so, the disposable necro pet lasted 20 seconds vs the mage disposable pet...but did 50% more damage....now it does around the same dps (less but close) but mage's last longer.
I wish they would update how the pets look at higher levels.
From the TOL missions there is a blood bag illusion. I use that on my necro but you are right pets need better looks. Hell tons of cosmetics would improve the visuals of the game overall
"it's very simple" sets up 34 hot buttons lol i don't think your pet was set to taunt. That helps a lot ;)
Yeah I always miss those things. Typically I would setup macros for everything vs the raw button. But I am saving the more complicated setups for my class guides for series characters.

One of the best classes in the game, they can do so much more but debuffing to pull is a good idea, clickie nukes are amazing. For crowd control we can mez/charm summon/elemental is it ideal or great no but can be done but one thing I use for crowd control is Swarm pets they take and hold good aggro and have a solid amount of HP loving the guides
Great tip using swarm pets for CC, I do that sometimes with my necro but never thought about it.
@@hammackj yeah, it works out really well. Currently on mischief we just got a new swarm spell and it will even hold aggro in solteris until a tank and pick it up. I think it’s rampaging servant RK3

*mages have no crowd control* that is true...but they do have an amazing off tank (my server is only at lvl 90...so maybe it is not amazing at 100) their swarm pet can off tank an ADD with ease, just throw a new off tank at it every 20-30 seconds depending on your AAs. They also have a body guard spell you wear as a buff, that spawns an off tank when you are hit...I have had 4 or 5 of them up at one time....they also get an AA that will taunt mobs off you and men wipe them...kinda like a poor mans FD....there is some level of survivability.
Swarm pets would work in some cases but if the mob summons the mage is dead. I use the swarm/taunt/aa pets on my multibox group and they work fine enough to offtank but holding off a mob while I kill another solo would be dumb. Mages get bonus damage based on the number of pets their target has on it up to 7 or so. Huge dps loss to put pets on any target other than the main target.
I’ll have to see how well my 125 can solo t1 stuff, at around 500k hp she does so fast I haven’t even tried yet.
@@hammackj I might be using the term swarm pet incorrectly...my mage is months old, ,and I power leveled it with bard damage shield....life is probably harder at 100, I have no idea... mischief is at 90. When I solo (not often) I guard the water pet behind the kill area and pull with the disposable pet, and just keep loading up disposable pets..can get 3 of them on a mob. The disposable pet does most if not all the tanking. IF I get an add on pull...most the time they stay and fight the disposable pet. Don't even need to use a merc healer. I hope that strategy stays functional at 100. That body guard armor buff is wicked good too...they spawn a mini pet for 2 or 3 ticks to tank whatever is hitting the mage, it is enough time for the disposable pet to come off of cool down to take over the tanking duties. I box 95% of the time these days with a. necro-bard-mage ....I completely forgot about the "of many" line needing 3 pets on it..I normally have pets for days.

All the melee/pet for sure. I had an odd issue in anguish with a caster doing zero damage. Bring a merc and that’s solved.

I was using the cosair one but I have moved to the razor naga mmo mouse. I have a full video on my truebox setup with all the hardware.

Heheheehe......IF I did getting started videos.....step one would not be color coded extended hotbeds....it would be...this is how you modify windows to make your EQ fonts bigger...lol all us first gen EQ players are blind as hell now....
To change the font size you right click the chat box and change it.

@@hammackj hey hey amigo.....I just checked that, you can change chat fonts...but you can change your windows DPI settings to change all font sizes in EQ, just a public service message for when your fantastic videos attract new (older) player to EQ..the micro font none of us noticed in our youth is fixable :O)
