Don't think she has any technical education as well. She is just another sales girl who has created a bubble around her through PR. Also, is it a norm today to have an Altman voice to be relevant in the AI world ?
I agree. The age of mass adoption of AI tech has just begun, and here comes a 30 someting year old young woman to be called the ‚queen of AI’. AI exists since the 1950, so where are the real kings and queens? On top of that, she doesn't even know what a niche market is. Talking fast using a ton of buzz words is obviously enough to be on a show. I don't understand why guests who are supposedly experts in their field are never challenged, why their statements and theories are never questioned. Everyone just nods meaningfully and nobody ‚hurts’ each other. I don't expect a hot seat, but some critical thinking, reality checks and counter-theses would enhance the show intellectually.
I've had VC tell this to me at my face! "Lifestyle business", super dismissive… My company can become a multi hundred million dollar company, lifestyle my ass 😂
I was with her…. Then she went into Silicon Valley Brat mode. “Anyone can start a business” 😂 then she went on to say “there is no linear path from here to there” AI is not linear. I own two software companies for 15 years in AI. She could not be more wrong. 😂 Andrew Karpathy is brilliant though.
I agree! Saying "AI is not linear" oversimplifies the diverse field of AI. It suggests a homogeneity that doesn't exist, as AI includes a vast range of techniques and models, both linear and nonlinear.
34:08 100% no BS AI solution for a real problem, I already delivered such AI voice bot receptionists or lead qualification bots to clients in the US. They are very useful and all businesses will definitely need that at some point.

I agree with Sarah, Shaan and Sam that AI is super helpful with specific tasks. Most of us are drowning in work. AI (especially AI agent teams) can free up your time to spend on more valuable activities.
I explored Hey Gen. Pretty cool! My sense though is... there's gonna be a huge swing toward anti-AI. (Shaan has talked about that in other niches/industries. i.e. the permanence of Facebook created the temporary-ness of Snapchat) I think there's gonna be a big group of companies/people/groups that say "hell no" to AI. And there's still gonna be a huge opportunity for "manual" businesses (writing, video, editing, etc.)

Sam eludes to this near the end of the conversation when he says like, "my brother or family members don't care about AI"
Every single one of those people will interact with AI eventually, even if they don’t care about it. AI will permeate a huge part of our daily lives (unless you live in a place where you need to travel just to get water). AI is currently the worst it will get. As of right now, take any 2024 movie for instance and you can’t 100% say AI wasn’t involved in any step of its production. Even if you’re against it, it’ll be part of your life.
She doesn’t seem to understand why certain industries are more resistant to cost improvements. There are more people that feed their families in the system that we have now than there will be if we make these organizations more efficient. It isn’t only due to regulation. Some of it is intentional. She is literally suggesting indirectly that we take food off of people’s dinner plates in order to simply make an organization more efficient. But, why? That’s the real question. I think she needs to be more honest about her motive, which is clearly and solely profits. It just goes to show that a higher level of intelligence doesn’t correlate with a higher level of morality.
In my opinion, the global public education system won't adjust quickly enough to keep up with the rapid advancements in technology and AI. This lag means that transitioning low-wage jobs could become a major issue, especially if machines take over these roles or if higher levels of training are required for new minimum-wage jobs. It's easy to feel pessimistic about this, but let's brainstorm ideas that could counter this trend and create profitable next million dollar businesses. That would be an interesting episode!
Match Is going to come in buy them up. AI integration for Match will be huge. People make fun of the movie “Her,” but… everyone in the theaters were hoping for the day haha
It’s getting scary when we don’t need people anymore to do anything. Every person that’s doing this AI stuff has saw the movie terminator and yet we keep continuing
The issue is how it is being developed. We don't need "All Knowing" A.I., what we need is each LLM to be specific to areas and fields and built to do specific things just like we have done with computer software. Why they attempt to make it "human like" is beyond me and completely unnecessary.
@52:08 do you think that people becoming more productive at their job in turn eliminates jobs? If one person would be able to do the work of 2 or 3 people, those positions would be eliminated, right? maybe I'm looking at this from a pessimistic perspective.

@@MarkAlanEffinger Sorry, doesn't make sense to me! First of all, an niche market is small and specific, with low to no competition, and there is typically no economies of scale.
