Eternal Sunshine - Slip Inside this House - 1988 DAT Audio

Eternal Sunshine recorded 'So this is Earth' and 'Slip Inside this House' in 1988 over two nights of downtime at a west London studio.
Two labels came close to releasing them at the time but it never went ahead.
In 1990 Rough Trade dance department heard it, liked it, offered us a distribution deal and it finally got released on vinyl.
This audio is taken from the original DAT tape from '88 which was used for mastering and cutting the vinyl release. 'So This is Earth' was overcooked on both bass and treble so was problematic at the time. The DAT can't be remixed and I've had the same problems, I've done my best to make it listenable but keep it as close as possible to the original sound. 'Slip Inside This House' sounds better and showcases the time engineer Kieran spent on stereo effects/indulging our ideas to put elephant and cicada samples on it!
Eternal Sunshine was Me, Ross, John and Kieran, hope this takes you back to the heady days of 1988 and the early uk house scene.

In my all time Top 3. Your two nights of downtime resulted in decades of happiness for me. I've been waiting so long to say thank you to you guys - THANK YOU. Over the years, I played this and the flipside more than any other 12". I've danced my socks off to them, laid on the floor blissed out with headphones, got through 5 copies, and never stopped loving these tracks. Any time I saw a copy, I bought it. But due to life circumstances, I lost my entire vinyl collection along with my decks. I've tried and failed to buy an mp3. After years of pleading on Facebook, a friend finally managed to upload these to TH-cam, for which I was so grateful, but they are pretty scratchy. Now I've got these nice clean copies to listen to. I can't tell you how happy you've made me. Thank you again. The only thing that would make me happier right now would be getting an mp3 xx
