Thanks for sharing! Nice dilemma to have. I suppose the first loser gets to go into one of the crew sculling boats for the 2019 Season, then it all starts again for 2020?

Like Mahe and Waddell , 2 excellent scullers at the same time, again

Clash of the titans! Thanks for sharing this!
Here's a question; Is there a spread sheet or an equation that "suggests" elite level 2k erg times, dependent on weight? I understand there are many variables that can't be accounted for, such as body fat percentage, technique, etc., but all things considered, is there anything out there that suggests what time to aim for (at the elite level) if you're a lean 215lbs (97.5kg), versus a lean 200lbs (90.7kg), versus a lean 185lbs (84kg)? After doing some research I've noticed most guys pulling sub 5:45 are usually North of 95kg (210lbs), whereas guys pulling 5:45-5:55 are usually between 87-95kg (192lbs-210lbs), and guys pulling 5:55 or higher are usually South of 87kg (192lbs).
Hope my question makes sense! I figured someone with your track record would know whether something like that exists, or be able to share some first hand knowledge. Thanks, Eric!

@@gilesallanrichardson2859 I've played around with that calculator before, but when putting in the 2k times and weights (that I listed in my initial comment), the adjusted times were often sub 5:30 (which is obviously inaccurate). Am I doing something wrong? Would love more advice, thank you!

I think Sam lochs “The Watt Farm” app has something like that. I could be wrong but it’s a useful training tool either way

Why does New Zealand do the selection so early?

we've always selected early because its the end of NZ summer now so then people train in the NZ system and head overseas in June to race the international season.

This world championship, does Manson qualify for the Olympics or a new NZ single spot. So if Robbie gets injured or something can mahe replace him or is it the next best Sculler not selected?

Qualifiyng means the nation will have the spot in the olympics, not that the specific athlete will go represent thd country at the olympics, so the selection process should probably be done again in 2020
