I love watching granulating swatching! I also just got the Rosa Jade Green (and 5 more of their new ones) and adored it as soon as the pigment touched the paper.
@@helencryer Magenta Grey, Azure Green, Maroon Brown, Cobalt Grey and Violet Black. I love them all. From the deepest mass tone I can get to the lightest wash. I had to do a little night time scene with cobalt grey for the moon and violet black for the sky after my first swatch.
This was awesome. I wish I could give you 1 million thumbs up I used to love, bright Colours only that illuminated a page while I still have a place for them in my heart. I am deeply in love with muted earthy colours now, and I’ve gone from being a pink girl, although I still love my kinks to log in green and very earthy granulated great these were absolutely stunning so much fun to look at. I would love to see you swatch out your full collection of grand watercolours granulating or otherwise. Thank you so much for sharing.
Haha, thanks very much! My tastes have definitely changed too - probably molded by my growing enjoyment of landscapes. I've actually just started a new swatch folder, so will probably have more videos on my watercolours, as I get it made.
Princeton round #8 was the first brush I used when I started with watercolor years ago. I now have many other brushes. But I still have that brush, & even though it’s lost some of its original precision, it’s the the only one that really feels “natural” in my hand. Because it was the first, I’m sure. 😊
Ha! I was thinking they looked like planets!! That is one beautiful page of swatches ❤❤❤. I need to take a screenshot, I have a lot of those colours, but there were a few new ones in there as well that I might want to keep in mind 😊.
so beautiful, would love to see you do this with purple 💜 great video though, still love the green! 💚 granulating watercolors are my favorite - cheers!
It wouldn't be a very long video I'm afraid, as I only have about 2 granulating purples! I do need to re-do my whole swatch folder though, at some point including the non granulating ones!
I love granulating colours too and it's great to see some of them swatched together like this❤️ The Rosa Gallery Jade Green looks lovely😍 DS Undersea Green, Cascade Green, Schmincke Forest Grey and Rembrandts Dusk Green are some of my favourite'💚💚
Ooh, what a treat! I definitely enjoyed watching that. I was surprised at how light the first two shire colours were and I definitely have to get me some of that Rosa gallery jade! (Amongst others). Super useful video, thank you, lovely to see them all next to each other & get an idea of ones I fancy against ones I already have. 😊
Thank you! I could have made the first two a bit stronger if I'd used paint straight out the tubes - these were from dry in the pan. They had an equivalent amount of re-wetting time compared with all the other paints though, which were also from pans. Yes, I think the Jade is a super interesting colour!
Green my favourite colour,a lot of those colours would suit the Cornish landscape right now,🤔 hint hint 😆. My favourite is the malachite. Enjoyed this very much with my morning cuppa, thanks Helen…….ps that should be framed and on the wall, beautiful.
@@helencryer I totally get that,I can avoid and put off doing certain things myself when the ol’nerves kick in. Whatever you choose to create next will be beautiful…..jump back on! ☺️x
Thank you, this swatching is so satisfying for me. I have almost all these colours in my palette. I like to find out we like the same green granulating colours. You have such a good taste :) Greetings from Canary Islands!
@@helencryer I was very restrained - 5 tubes of W&N artists gouache, four Rosa Gallery paints (I'm determined to get them all over time, ha ha!) and a free sample of the XL Inktense blocks. So not too crazy, just enough to feed my habit 🤣
that's a beautiful set of swatches! Cascade Green is gorgeous as is Aquarius Green! The Forest colors are some of my favorites from Schmincke granulating sets; have to get a set of the Shire colors, so pretty. if you like granulating watercolors some of the mixes in Arkaar Creations offer stunning granulation.
Schminke sure know how to do a beautiful granulating paint. I have that brush too - I bought it last week, and honestly don't know how I managed without it :D
Thank you so much for swatching! I don't like greens but I try to pick fun greens to encourage myself to use them more, currently my favorites are serpentine genuine by Daniel Smith and Aquarius green. I'll definitely try couple of the colors you swatced today 🥰
Green is not my favourite colour, but I seem to have amassed a lot this year through doing more landscapes. I definitely enjoyed this swatching though! Have never quite got round to Serpentine...
I did exactly the same thing over the past week, except that I was redoing a A5 swatching book & putting all in their colour families & another lot in their pan placement on paper in the book ( for future reference after I've taken a pan out & can't remember where it belonged lol)
I’ve just added under sea green to my basket after seeing Sandie Hester try it. I wanted fuchsite too but it’s a bit expensive for a pre Christmas spend. 😇 x
It's definitely a corker!! I don't think you'll be disappointed! I have the green and red Fuchsites from Daniel Smith, and they're pretty colours, but I've ended up using them very little, probably because of their lower tinting strength and being hard to re-wet.
Lovely. I don’t use granulating colours much, I go for transparency and glazing (it makes a good contrast with more opaque mediums in mixed media), but I do find them interesting. I might include one or two here and there for texture.
I absolutely love granulation for adding texture in landscapes and natural materials like slate roofs, but I also really love my transparent watercolours too - that beautiful clear glow!!
I'm not sure I have enough granulating blues and purples for a video just on them, but I've started re-doing my swatch folder, so will video those colours!
Wonderful video! Have you tried Roman Szmal's Chromium Oxide Green? It's not granulating but it is such a gorgeous green. Understated and natural; I think you would like it.
They're so beautiful. I can't decide which set I want to buy. Thanks for showing them.❤
lovely colours, i really love greens❤❤❤
I was just thinking how wonderful my day would be if Helen Cryer posted a video - and here it is! Thank you! 😊
That's so nice, thank you!!
Beautiful little planets, I really enjoyed watching! Thank you!
Thank you!
Dreamy greens. 😍💚
Wow! I didn’t know what granulating was until I watched this, really nice to watch thanks!
Thank you! It's an absolutely lovely effect for some things!

Beautiful collection of paints, they remind me of looking through a microscope at slides of various things. Love your work, keep it up!
Thank you very much!
Your swatching sheet would look great as a framed piece. Gorgeous circles.
Thanks!!
agree. If I didn't know, i'd ask if they were a study of far away moons!

same! both that one and my Silver Black Velvet round 8.
These two are probably my favourites!
Rembrandt's dusk green is a beautiful colour too its one of my absolute favourites
I don't actually remember seeing it - need to go and take a look, thanks!

That’s easy! I use these three the most: DS Undersea Green, DS Green Apatite Genuine and Schmincke Forest Brown!
Great ones!!
