- Continuing his chat with Mick Garris, William Friedkin talks about his film THE EXORCIST (1973), including a discussion of the techniques he used to generate suspense and fear in the audience, his use of subliminal imagery, and his reasons for recently restoring deleted footage to the film.
Love William Freidkin, Love him and miss him....A real filmmaker with balls unlike alot of other Hollywood filmmakers.
William Friedkin is a freaking genius. Could listen to this guy talk shop all day.
One of the things I get from Friedkin is how he looks through the camera when he says"and you". Zero fear of the lens. Some actors have it, but wow. No wonder he is who he is. Mick's story of standing in line is so true. People were on edge to see that film in the beginning.
Fantastic interview Mick. Like another person commented, I could listen to Friedkin talk all day. He has a way with words and I love his honesty. I would also like to say you do such a great job with these interviews. You ask smart questions and allow the interviewee to take their time to answer. Terrific job and thanks so much for all of these wonderful interviews.
Many thanks, David. Glad you are enjoying them. He is always a great interview. Check out the one that we never were able to air on the Z Channel back in 1979 on the mickgarrisinterviews.com site. Cheers!
Great Interview
this is great Mick! I could watch him all day
These are great! Any chance of getting Clive Barker on?
Jake Tammaro Glad you’re enjoying them. The TV shows were shot in 2000. But we are still doing them on the Post Mortem with Mick Garris podcast, where we have done over 50 interviews so far. We are working on getting Clive to do the show.
does anyone know what were those other movies where he inserted images? this is a great fact and a great interview in general.
Me too, Bill, me too.
Is he from New England? He sounds alot like Steve King
Chicago
I thought he sounded like trump
Wasn’t there come CGI in Rampage, great interview though.
No, Rampage predates CGI. The film had no digital enhancements.
@@danpridachin8227 There was CG in 87, the scene I’m on about in Rampage when they were looking at scan of the er mans brain I’m sure that was CGI on the monitor they were looking at even it was only for a few seconds.
