      They are free to wear what they want. The norm only takes place during school hours at schools, where education is the utmost priority and is the reason why kids are coming to school, not to showcase diversity or show that they are different. We have nothing against hijabs, just need uniformity among students.

      @@krishay04 But isn't diversity a more important motto in schools than uniformity. I am a strong believer of the cause that being uniform and same will never bring any development to the society. Accepting hijabs for what they are reflects the true identity of our nation, which is unity in diversity. If we force we everyone to be same, how is that considered a good thing in any case? I have always seen hijabs and turbans worn by sikh boys as a sign of acceptance of our differences. Isn't getting same level of education opportunities good enough? Must we always look the same?

    • @krishay04
      @krishay04 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ananyaverma9599 I agree with your opinion on 'Unity in Diversity' ma'am. But in a country where people actually look forward to their respective religions being superior to the others (which is a wrong idea of religions), such diversity could lead to huge number of differences in terms of opinion just for the sake of it. I am not against Hijab or any religion's customs, but a child should fully focus on his/her studies with the belief that everyone is the same. The politic situation in the country with a superiority-ideology spread by leaders (most) and even parents, I feel that unity is a safer option. Feel free to disagree, it is my opinion that if something could be avoided in order to maintain peace, it should. In this case Hijab isn't necessary in Islam (which is what the High Court says), I think it can be avoided for a few hours. The main purpose of Hijabs, according to the leaders is to hide the woman's face from people, with evil desires; but I don't think there would be any such people in schools.

If she had given a lengthy answer where she condemned the ban on hijab then that would have attracted massive trolling for her and not to mention vicious comments from political people who would have hated her guts for speaking in favour of hijab. So I don't mind her answer being brief considering the political environment in India.

  • @DrSneha
    @DrSneha 2 ปีที่แล้ว +104

    She isn't supposed to answer such questions! She has to avoid political controversies because any statement whether it will be for the motion or against the motion, it will offend some people. If she stays neutral and try to deviate the topic, people will say that the answer isn't to the point. Also, she is Miss Universe, not just Miss India, she will represent everyone and she has to respect everyone. People are always divided with views and if you pick sides, you will make others sad. That's the reason she didn't answer the "original question" and converted it to a general scenario.
    Edit: I agree that her answer wasn't perfect but she is in an interview and there you have to answer what clicks first. The journalist has right to ask her questions but it was he who deviated the topic. There are limitations to what reigning paegents can speak and therefore it is told to not ask such questions. The journalist definitely put her in a spot where no matter what she said would cause her trouble.
