Every pianist plays this piece in his or her own way and there is sometimes significant variation. It is good for a student to start with following the script first. This video offers a good explanation of how one should count.
Thank you, Josh. This is very helpful. I'm even considering to buy the whole video but I only started to learn this piece today so I'm also waiting for what my teacher has to say. Anyway, you really brought a lot of new understanding of this brilliant music :)
Can you think of the timing in the beginning as triplets and switch to eighth- like measure 2 and 3 are: 1 triplet, 2 triplet, 3 triplet, 1 triplet 2 And 3 And.
I'm interested in what he thinks of pedalling in this piece. Some people say con sordina means damper pedal down, some say up, some say it means the soft pedal.
This is more like treating the 8-th note groups as triplets in 3/4 time. It still works, but you don't get the subdivision needed for the duplets. I find it the easiest to count it as 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 or maybe 1 2 3 2 2 3 3 2 3.
Donde puedo comprar el vídeo? Está muy bien explicado Espero que amplíen en dónde, puedo encontrar el vídeo. En magos estoy estudiando Está melodía. Debussy me fascina, me es muy sensual
Thanks man. I finally found someone to explain the timing. Excellent
Even when a tree dies it's gradual. A new breath. Fantastic.
I finally understand how to count duplets in this piece, thank you. Counting it out is so helpful!
So many people play this piece. And so many people seriously mess it up. Thank you for actually showing how to play it well
