Alice & Jasper were absolutely adorable together. I loved Alice's character in the books and I don't think they could have selected a better actress to portray her than Ashley Greene. But then again, I liked all the characters in the Cullen family, for many different reasons. Carlisle for his gentleness and respect for life. Esme for her kindness. Emmett for his strength and sense of humor. Alice for her "bubbliness" and love of fun. Jasper simply because he's Jasper. Edward for his respect for Bella's humanity and his unwillingness to be the reason she lost her soul. Even Rosalie for her moodiness and protectiveness of the family. In all, I liked all the characters in the books, even when I didn't like them - LOL! I love the Twilight world, am sincerely grateful to Stephenie Meyer for creating that world, and am very happy to own both the books & movies.
Stephanie Meyer would agree with you on the casting choices for Alice and Carlisle...when Ashley and Peter came out of makeup for the first time, Stephanie couldn't believe her eyes,they'd managed to nail both characters. And to think,Ashley originally read for Bella!

I’m like “that’s great but you wrote the best dames backstory ever for jasper and Alice and we are gonna leave it at half chapter and 12 minutes of screen time?” They could’ve made a movie heck a whole series on Jasper and Alice and how their stories collided and I would’ve watched it all bought it all read it all!
Perhaps I'm reading moe into it than there is, but as a PTSD survivor that is going for my degree in Mental Health counseling, Jaspder seems to have all the classic signs of PTSD due to trauma sustained in war. I believe Alice provides such comfort because doesn'ttry to minimize what he's feeling when he thinks about what he's done. She does what any good counselor does. She listens nonjudgementally and helps him bring himsef back to 'the moment' they're in.
My ultimate Twilight ship right here. Jalice is so much more interesting and attractive than Bellward(?). Alice is gorgeous, Jasper is hot as hell(that hair, smirk, and Texas twang melts my heart😍), and their powers and backstories are very mysterious and intriguing. Honestly, if I were to ship Bella with anyone, it would be Jacob. A loyal, protective, funny, LIVING, smolderingly hot guy who genuinely cares about her and doesn't abandon her or lust after her blood like said vampire.
