  • If you are designing any type of industrial building, you are very likely to come across a portal frame.
    In this video, we're going to dive deep into the design of steel portal frame structures.
    We will look into preliminary design, methods of analysis, haunches, struts, fly braces, bending moment, section moment capacity, splicing, transportation, footings and much more.

    Succinct and informative as always. I bought your retaining wall guide, and I'll likely buy any other structural publication you put together.

    Hello, thanks for the valuable information presented in this video.
    5:20 Is the haunch length (4m) the total left and right haunches or is each one 4m?

    can we just model the building as 2d frame, or is there any difference if we model it as 3d?

    • @bengthebrazilianengineerinAus
      @bengthebrazilianengineerinAus  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes you can analyze the portal frame with a 2D model. I find the 3D models good for bracing analysis, relative sway of portals etc. It considers all the stiffness. But yeah, 2D works as well.

      I agree, I think some robot tutorials on how you input and explain the reactions against general topics such as this video would be really helpful. Typically you only see either videos on how to use the software or videos on general topics. Might be someone unique to try and combine them . Food for thought, but I would watch.

      @bengthebrazilianengineerinAus hy Your videos are really helpful for graduate engineers..it would be really helpful if you could design a portal frame from start to end..wind design to foundation design
