Did you notice any black crush or smearing on this TV? 65” X95K is double the price of a 75” Philips 9506 here in NZ. I think I would go bigger and save some money
Yes, out of the box PML9507 has quite a strong black crush but it's possible to improve shadow detail with raising the black level but it's not possible to get completely rid of it or match the Sony. PML9507 has some smearing and also some ghosting caused by the local dimming but it got way better after all the updates and is not distracting anymore.
@@skyform Is it worth the price? I know its a bit of an odd-ball question, but I'm down to either TCL 935 or the Phillips PML9507. They are both the same price, because of a current 33% discount on the PML9507. Is the PML9507 a worthwhile buy? Thanks for these videos.
Yes, PML9507 has the new Ambilight Generation (Aurora). Because Philips has lots of black crushed out of the box. It can be improved with the settings but it can't match the Sony. Philips is known for this. They always have some black crush, some models have more then others and unfortunately Philips Mini LEDs have more black crush than their budget TV's like PUS8507 and even their OLEDs.
Not really, it's very similar to 9506. It's brighter and has a new Ambient Intelligent mode and that's really it. It's not worth the upgrade if you already own the 9506. But I had 9506 in 65" and 9507 is 55" maybe the bigger sizes are more of an improvement.
Overall X95J is the better TV. PML9507 has less blooming and can go brighter in Dolby Vision and just a bit brighter in SDR but Sony has nicer dark scenes with more shadow detail, brighter HDR, a bit nicer colours, better color gradation, better viewing angle, better game mode especially VRR mode. Don't get me wrong, PML9507 is a great TV as well especially if you are not too picky. Philips TVs need to be tweaked alot, imo. Not towards "creators intent", but to personal preference. If you know what you want, high end Philips TVs really do shine. But if D65 and creators intent and jada jada is the aim, then Philips is not the best choice. Just an opinion
@@pinkladys7822 Indeed they have to be tweaked a lot. Unfortunately you can't get all the shadow detail on Philips TV's no matter how much you tweak them. I have had Philips TV's since 2007 and they always had black crush which is not completely fixable unless you want to wash out the picture. It's just Philips way of doing things. They sacrifice shadow detail for deeper blacks and contrasty looking picture. Philips boosts mid tones so their picture looks more contrasty with black crush compared to competition. Even Vincent from HDTV TEST confirmed this in his recent review of the OLED807 that black crush can't be completely fixed because of boosted mid tones. Yes, Philips has great, actually one of the best upscaling, processing and motion on the market and ambilight on top. It has always been their strengths and I really liked this about their TV's but this contrasty picture with black crush is taking all the fun away for me.
Both TV's show more detail than in this video. My iPhone simply can't capture all the detail that we see in person. I would need a better camera to be able to show better detail and even then it wouldn't be the same as in person.

Do you experience any black crush problem?
@@Dark5tar111 Yes I did, just like with 9506. Please check some other videos, I have plenty of videos regarding black crush on PML9506 and PML9507.

мой хн95 показывает получше их обоих вместе взятых...после моей калибровки естественно)
