- I bought an 80's style Charvel as an impulse buy, and I have no regrets 😎. These are also a great buy on the used market if you're looking for something under $1000.

Brian really needs to invest in a sleeveless jean jacket, some aviators, and a headband.
And a lot of hairspray
@@RMS12.2think he have enough? 😂😂
As a child of a child of the 80’s, I would 100% play this guitar. Give me all the neon-soaked 80’s vibes!🤘🏻🔥
Would love to see a video where you show your entire guitar collection, I know it might be a long video to shoot but I think I’m not the only one that would love to see this at some point 🎸
Brian! Your playing really has improved so much recently!!! This video is a perfect example!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much!
Came here to say this. Looong way from the days of the capo cheat sheet. 😂👏🏻
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dude, I've played a 7-string on Sunday. That's pretty tame in comparison. Heck yeah I'd rock it.
Same! 🤘🏼
Thanks for keeping an open mind, Brian! I love the Charvels: they play wonderfully and sound great.
I’ve been watching these guitars for almost a year now. I think I’m finally gonna pull the trigger on getting one. Thanks Brian!
This is sick some of my fav playing I've seen you do man
I play a shell pink strat in church. People love it! These Charvels are super intriguing.
I keep coming back to watch the intro jam 🤘
Those are great guitars! I got one last year in HSH, and love it especially for the ability to go from super clean to drivey without touching my pedals.
I wish I had time to watch this whole thing right now, but dang that studio is looking good! 👊🏻
That sounded sick!
Awesome sound!
I was one of the few people that would play a Charvel in Kansas City in the mid-90s. They're great guitars. You found a real gem there... pink, roasted maple... I mean c'mon. Congratulations!!!
Those lights are sick!
Hey Brian, Once again awesome vid! Bring on the side by side before and after! I'm looking for some different "charachter" in one of my axes and would love to hear the comparison!!!
A esta guitarra le tengo puesto el ojo hace tiempo. Aguanten los 80´s. Buen review.
Killer guitar man! Tell Jack that Dave (from St Luke) says hello! keep the great content coming! 🤘
I would totally play it at church! I like the pick up comparison video idea. Please post it.
I have played a plethora of guitars at church over the years. I break out my Union Jack Sheraton every July 4th just for humor and it is a stunning guitar with Gibson Mini HBs. I've played Teles, Les Pauls, Heritage 555s and double cut H-147, White Falcon and Sparkle Jets, I have the silver to Brian's beautiful gold one. I've played my Firebird, Strats, Danelectro, PRS's, several vintage Ibanez Artists. I even played a Swept Wing, think surf music. I have not brough my Flying V to worship yet, I thought that may be a wee over the top for some! I have played my Teye Electric Gypsy La Mora, it's pretty flamboyant but the Lollar Imperials are killer! My main guitars for worship are a Novo Serus J and Duesenberg Starplayer TV, they are fairly benign as far as shapes go.
being doing it for many years even before digital gear, sounds really good my kind of sound Thnx
The best I have ever heard you sound! is that more telling of me? LOL Thank you
I play a Ibanez super strat at my church and it’s suited me well for the past month
I play a DK24 2pt, a USA So-Cal and a San Dimas in Church frequently. Also Jackson SL2H, PRS Custom 22 and Les Paul. The DK24 was my go to before getting the PRS. The DK is a KILLER guitar.
I look at it this way. Every guitar is a "Church guitar." It's whatever you can afford, whatever you are comfortable with. So yeah I would play that in the Worship Band. No problem. My main guitars I take to Church is a Fender MIM Thinline Telecaster, heavy modified to 72 specs, with the Fender Wide Range reissued pickups, 1 Meg Bourns pots, 022 Orange Drop cap CRL pickup selector and Top Hat knob and I also is a Fender American Professional II Telecaster Which I put in Fender locking tuners. I only take one guitar for the 4 to 6 songs we play on a Sunday and no I don't have any fear of breaking a string. If I do. I'll work around it. Before getting saved, I was a professional musician for over 20 years.
They're great, I had been playing one lately, but just sold it!
Never knew these existed but now I’m very interested
Absolutely! My main guitars for a while were a Desert Sun Yellow RG550 and a White Jem. They full on rip!
Brian... I see you have been practising a lot these days... nice new riffs brotha!!
Thank you!
Yep. I would rock this guitar. I currently use an Ibanez RGT42FM with a pair of pickups that Satch uses PAF Joe and Mo' Joe. 😊
I rock my 84 Ibanez superstrat all the time at church!
Birth year guitar in blue sparkle! The 80s were just awesome!
Charvel Rick Graham Signature MJ DK24 2PT CM - Celeste
No mods needed. Best guitar I've ever owned (20+)
Thank me later
It's a very good guitar for the money. I swapped the pickups to Lundgren pickups, other than that it is a very good workhorse of a guitar. The neck, locking tuners, the trem, pots and jack placement. Awesome package. Would recommend.
Very cool guitar-- Congrats!! If it were mine, I wouldn't change a thing ;) That said, the Fralin's should be nice too. Either way, YES-- let it rip on Sunday :D BTW, really enjoyed the intro 80's-vibing through the Helix~
All day I would play that guitar!
I have a Sam Dimas I love it I’ve played it in church a couple times love it great guitars
I’ve played my Michael Sweet Washburn and sully guitars before. Would love a charvel
My main church guitar is a Charvel DS-1, Which was 100% built with 2010's metalcore in mind. It has Seymour Duncan Blackouts. Actives. Killer guitar.
I'm currently using an Ibanez RG (the usual HSH) as my main guitar at church. Loaded it with DiMarzio pickups (except for the mid PU). I'd put a push/pull pot to split both humbucker PUs and it became very versatile as ever.
Awesome sounds! My main church guitar is my old, Carvin super strat with an original Floyd Rose, dual humbuckers, and locking tuners. It's just a killer guitar. I found it in the used section at GC about 15 years ago and paid $400 with case. Carvin is now Kiesel guitars, and if you know, you know.
A carvin for $400 is not something you’d get now… ha. No one knew what it was, clearly. Absolute steal
Looking 👀 forward to the Fralin pickups
I have the socal mod2 tele style. It has grown on me and now It nails every worship sound as well as other genres.
I recently got the mod2 with fluence pups and used it a couple times in church. Different, but still very cool.
I have their T style... love it for Sunday morning
You guys should make a video on how you guys record the guitars. It would help me a lot and probably many other people.
Yes please
Full shred is actually a medium output humbucker. It has less output than the JB. As you can see on my icon, I have the grey one and I love it!
Just got an Amethyst Purple Jackson Dinky with Floyd rose and hot pickups. Gonna give 80s worship a shot!! These “modern style” guitars do have some wonderful features compared to “vintage style” guitars.
Absolutely, I have played a Charvel San Dimas in Church before ❤
These Charvel s when they were introduced I think 3 different lines with different pickup configuration all were named the best 🎸 at any price range 3 years in a row...you are obviously finding out why....and like you guys I do love my PRS ....but I think these far better especially for the price. The bridge is a super shred and medium output btw not high like a JB but the sustain is its biggest strength along with clarity... Loved hearing you play your Helix patches they always sound amazing
I'm using an Ibanez AZ guitar and it's also great in worship music! It have thicker neck, then Charvels but also relly comfortable! Let's try one of them it will be good! :)
At my local music store there's a Metallic bubble gum San Dimas thats my go to and I"m always so tempted and the modern Charvels are so versatile
love to see affordable gear!
Beautiful specimen, reminds me of my Ibanez Az
One of our guitar players has this. It's good.
I own a black DK 22. I had it modified to accommodate a full-size Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge. The humbucker is medium output. I also own numerous Stratocaster and prefer the sound of the Charvel. The guitar might look out of place in a worship setting, but it has all the appropriate sounds..
Man I’ve played a “V” at church. Rock what you got.
I played an 80's red charvel with a floyd rose (don't remember the model) for a several years at church and I loved that thing. I so regret selling it years back. Mine was more of a jackson style.
The full shreds output is on the slightly hotter end but I don’t think I would say it’s a high output pickup (I’m talking like the JB), it can play cleans without pushing too hard it just has a scooped voicing.
Tried one of these once and felt a little rough but I’d think it would be pretty nice if setup well.
I have a Pro Mod San Dimas. SUPER versatile.
Thanks for the demo! Sweet tones! What fret polishing kit do you use?
This is my main guitar every Sunday. Mine has 2 humbuckers though but it's the same model.
I would definitely like to hear it after the pickup swap
I would love to see the pickup swap results :-)!
Absolutely 👍🏼
This sounds so 80’s!
hey WT, thanks a lot for your videos, esp the Line 6 / Helix ones as they actually help me alot in developing my tones.
but then I noticed that you dont review Yamaha guitars very often?
do you think that Yamaha guitars' tones dont fit into worship situations, or are there other considerations?
This is so weird! I’ve been looking at these myself lately, along with Fender HM Strats. I’ve never been a shreddy superstrat kind of guy but something about the simple no frills appearance and playability has my attention.
Love my DK24 HSH, but I now have fret sprout.
I had that same guitar for a while. It was last years Easter guitar...played it a bunch
I would. 👍🏼 I play the Charvel Vivaldi 🔥
Sounds great. I don’t get the “guitar prejudice” at church.
I play all sorts of guitars at church including a Flying V from time to time. I’ve even played my early 80’s Ibanez destroyer star a couple times. If it sounds great and you aren’t trying to “upstage” I just don’t see a problem.
Yes, and I do!!!
Yes. No hesitation. And I play on a stage with a huge pipe organ.
Heck yes! I mean id still sound like me. Just like Jorge Fajardo still sounds like Jorge Fajardo whether on a Charvel, Strat, or Lp….and its pink🤘🏼
I had a white Gibson Explorer that was the best sounding guitar I’ve ever owned. Played it on Sundays for 3-4 years. Sold it several years ago, and still regret it. Play whatever sounds good, regardless of looks.
Use whatever sounds good! Albert King used a Flying V, Albert Collin’s used a Tele, the Edge from U2 used an Explorer. Whatever sounds good per application just go for it.
To answer the question, yes. Lol ive played a dean ML at church which was perfect
This Sunday I’m playing my Schecter Damion Solo Elite with active EMGs and in drop D. So yes I’d play that guitar at church. Lol
It’s not even the locking trem version, it’s not even a question just a great flexible guitar
Believe me if Jonathan/HW can play a Double Neck, anything is possible, it is WHAT you PLAY with it, not the instrument itself. NOW if ya paint a little DEVIL on it, you might RAISE some EYEBROWs!!! I almost bought a 72 Gibson BLACK Custom back in DEC, of 97, I was a NEW/NEW believer, the Custom had a Playboy Bunny logo on it, I might have mistakenly taken that one to Church, it would have awakened the Practice Service for sure, til someone told me. Later in the Sale day, I opted to buy a RED 335, for a bit more MONEY, it had no logos. Good thing I passed on the CUSTOM.
I definitely wont mind playing worship songs on this guitar
Really cool! To answer the question tho... Absolutely I would! Play some Jeremy Camp songs and have fun.
I use 5 different schecters with Floyd's.
They're amazing
I played fender's version of the 80s rocker (showmaster) in church for years. Could not even begin to guess how many people asked me if it was a PRS 😂
one of the guitarists at my church only plays Charvels. They are spec's eay better than the Fenders in the same price range and made in the same Factory
could you please make a tutorial on how to lower the height of the strings . any help would be appreciated . thank you
Yes.
Now you’re speaking my language. Heck yeah I would. And have.
One of these days I’m getting a slime-green Charvel fat-strat & learning to shred.
I feel like if your good like these guys any guitar is playable
I used a MM majesty before…..the charvel is perfect for church
You got it in Hoover, right? I'm guy that traded in that guitar (traded it and another guitar for the Tone Master Pro). Hated the Tremel-no, but the neck is pretty awesome. And I may have made an offer on Reverb today for a "replacement" one of these... seriously.
I did! Ha that’s so cool. It’s in good hands :)
@@worshiptutorials Better hands than mine, for sure. We’ll chalk this up to God’s providence. if you are ever in Homewood, I’d love to buy you a cup of coffee and thank you for all that you guys do in person.
Please make a video about the pickup swap
Charvel is nice, but what about other superstrats like the Jackson Soloist, Ibanez RG 550, or Kramer Baretta?
I’ve done the Jim Root tele and my Mayones Regius 6 on Sunday before…. This is far more sensible in comparison
show us the new pickups
Is there hope for a new episode of Staying Relevant With Brian?
its just a suped up strat ..go for it
I have the same one. Matte pink and roasted maple HSS = take my 💲
