- Vox Gold Bulldogs were made in Chicago by Oxford for the Super Beatle Buckingham cabs and Viscount combos of the mid-sixties. Those amps were solid state and used by the Beatles themselves in concerts throughout the USA. Using a pair of these in a Vox hybrid amp seemed like a good match so I installed them. I feel they have improved the tone of this versatile amp. VR stands for “Valve Reactor” and this amp has a 12ax7b as a gateway from the preamp to the power amp.
I like when you did the descending lick from Help!, you looked up as if to say "How 'bout that, sports fans?"
Thank you Bruce. Some of those licks were very close to Rush's 2112 "what can this strange device be"
Wow, I had no idea! Glad you are listening.
Nice sounding amp, I had one several years ago and regret selling it. Let me know if you ever think about selling it.
Sorry to say I did sell it. Thanks for your interest. I liked it too. One of the ones that got away!
It will be more louder than the stock speaker?
nice... speakers make it sound more true ac30. I have a c2 and the vr and they don't sound enough like each other to use for stereo recording, thought they compliment each other. I wonder if i changed my vr speakers I would get some better results. Cheers
Probably best to sell the vr and get a second c2? I'm sure you are getting good results as is though.
Wow! You know all the rolling stones songs.
