So much great content lately (well, always). These topics are dense & tangled webs of information; it's so easy to become overwhelmed & anxious about (potentially) making the wrong moves in our biz strategies. Asking me to take a step back and consider these strategies *before* starting a biz is a helpful exercise, and actually resulted in my uncovering some new opportunities I likely would have never considered.

@@OffshoreCitizen You cover awesomely well both SMB and solopreneurs, but personally, the more you talk about building offshore as a digital nomad, the better. Ah- and also talk about non-EU and EU citizens while mentioning income taxes, because for some visas or permits, being an EU can be disadvantageous (like the one in Portugal).
      Congrats on your work!
I personally can't pay for your consulting services atm, I'm in a transition between being jobless and hustling my own solo business while being location-free, so your videos are quite saving my back meanwhile!!!

You can definitely learn a lot by watching videos. Booking a call is great for getting specific advice and solutions for your situation, since there's no one size fits all.
Good luck with your job hunting! I'm sure we'll meet soon☺💪

Great video as always,Mike. I have a question: When it comes to substance, what does "top-level" decision-making mean? Apart from staff, can you please give an example of what type of people that you should put inside the company (is it HR manager or CFO ,etc)?

    • @HyggeJourney
      @HyggeJourney 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Basically... Can the company run without you or with other significantly partners. If you are the only in charge of the company and you only hire low-level workers - then suddenly it's hard to prove the company is not resident where you are.
Even if you want to be the CEO of your business living in country X (lets say Portugal)
Then hire a COO, CFO, CMO... in country A (US), B (Canada), C (Denmark). Give them fine titles. As Michael also says, involve them in decision making... So make sure you have emails, Zoom meetings etc - where you discuss things so you can back it up if you ever where questioned (unlikely) that you are not the only person leading it.
Let's say your business is incorporated in US.
Now it's as good as impossible for your resident country (country x) to say the business belongs there, as you can at any time say that my business is mainly being managed from A, B, C so how could I possible belong there.
As well as some DTT's might help you as well depending on the mix of countries.
Michael can probably explain it better - so maybe reach out to him :)

@@OffshoreCitizen .. sure, though I don't want to overwhelm you : Vaccine Passports, Pandemic influence on e-commerce, Side hussles/passive income and how your presence is not essential in generating revenue. Also :) (and it may sound cheesy), ...how identifying solutions to people's problems and designing and implementing - to create viable business opportunities.. Thanks again for your awesome channel!!

You just answered my question. Thank you Michael.
One more thing, does this work? I want to use a Cayman Foundation Company. I would move to Cayman, use my ordinary resident Cayman company to be the director for my Canadian client's foundation company. In this case the Founders of the company are the Canadian clients. Then use a virtual office to outsource most of the admin, sales, and accounting work. Then I would use cash on the balance sheet to buy ETH, BTC, or Tether, take loans against the crypto and then use that as liquid cash that the Founders of the Cayman Foundation Company (Canadian Clients) can use tax free in Canada.

Michael can you make a video about business insurance? Do online companies need it in your opinion. Like a seller on amazon etc. Common small online businesses. Do they need product liability insurance etc?
The insurance side of small business is something many small business ppl arent even aware of.

How can a Canadian software freelancer single owner/shareholder of an offshore business in BVI, set-up the business so the business residency isn't taxable by Canada? Would having a few subcontractors in Europe be enough? or adding a Director outside Canada? Should they remove themselves as director? Much appreciated!
