In the heart of Barcelona, at the centuries-old Convent de Sant Agustí, a unique musical journey unfolded. This historic venue, dating back to the early 14th century, has borne witness to countless stories of transformation and cultural exchange. Against this backdrop of antiquity and spirituality, Neval sought to reecho her voice and forge a connection with a city where she is both a foreigner and a kindred spirit. Neval’s performance was a heartfelt endeavor to intertwine her cultural roots with the timeless aura of Sant Agustí Vell. Singing in Kurdish and Turkish, she wove together the rich tapestries of Anatolian and Mesopotamian cultural heritage, merging them with modern electronic psychedelic sounds. Through her music, she carried the essence of her homeland into this historic center, aiming to resonate with its walls and people, forging bonds through sound and soul. This session was more than a concert; it was an act of creation and belonging-a reclaiming of her voice in a new world, while honoring the ancient traditions that shaped her. The live renditions of her songs created a profound dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation, and artist and place.
