Lake Vyrnwy.. My hike and drone video around the lake.

  • Lake Vyrnwy had been suggested to me as a place to visit in North Wales and capture some nice shots and footage using my drones. So I went on Saturday 5th June 2021 and I was not disappointed at all. The lake and its surrounding area boast stunning views and picturesque scenery. I did my best to capture as much as I could from different view points around the lake and different angles but I am sure there is still much more to capture. I highly recommend Lake Vyrnwy if you are considering somewhere to go for a nice day out, hike, picnic, drone, mountain bike, jog... It has it all.
    I hope you enjoy the video.

    Jeez Nick, I nearly spat my beer out then when you _tried_ to pronounce where you were going to!!😆😆😆 It's (phonetically) pronounced 'Vern-wee' by most people. 👍

    My Wife and I go to Lake Vyrnwy quite often. I used to have the Unique drone and took footage of the side of the dam when it was in full flood, SPECTACULA I really love the footage you filmed, absolutely beautiful. Well done

    Fantastic shots of Lake vyrnwy and surrounding areas.The tower I believe is were the water is pumped out. On Borough Road opposite the Kings lane there used to be a water works yard. And in the window of the office there was a model of the dam.Best Regards.

    Don't live far from there... just the other side of the border and been round there a good few times cycling.......there's surprisingly lots to see and do there in such a hidden, idyllic location......There's the Straining tower, RSPB shop, cafe, Wooden sculpture park, Bird feeding hide and several dotted around the lake, Boat and bike hire, Pub/hotel/restaurant, the Dam, 11mile circuit around the lake, gift shop, loads of picnic areas, a waterfall the far end of the lake......and ample free parking -but get there early if you want to decamp near the dam end where most shops etc are.
    Always pronounced it Vurn-Wee round here......although that may not be the Welsh pronunciation. It must be noted that this is one of RSPBs flagship bird sanctuarys so fishing would be restricted to certain areas, no hunting or powerboats permitted and noisy or dirty activities would be frowned upon. BBQs are allowed but certainly no open fires.
    It's also not far from lake Bala (the adjoining road is scary as f. up the mountains on a single track road with few barriers) which is more of a sporting lake than the picturesque bird sanctuary in Vyrnwy....Bala has a small gauge railway track running down the side of it and it has a sizeable village connected to it, which Vyrnwy does not.
    If you was to head back to England towards Oswestry from Vyrnwy, keep your eyes out for signs for Pystyll Rhaeadr....(pronounced Pistol Raider). This is a giant 3 stage waterfall falling 73m with the longest drop being 40m and has a natural arch carved out by the falling water. It is known as one of the 7 wonders of Wales from a poem and one of the biggest waterfalls in the UK

      Wow Joe thanks for the information. Especially regarding Pistol Raider. I will certainly head there soon 👍🏻

      @@misterdroneuk Yeah it's definitely worth a trek if your only coming from North Cheshire/Wirral/Liverpool area (I guess from your accent)
      The view is like something from Jurassic Park on the long straight road towards it because of its shear size........and the view from the foot of it is pretty intense with the noise and size. There's a little bridge going over the stream at the bottom which enables perfectly centralised picture opportunities.
      You can also walk up a steep rocky pathway up the right hand side of the fall to get up to the top where there are a few shallow, smooth rocky pools to deep your feet in with great views of the Berwyn Mountains.
      There's a small car park, which may have a small fee too.....and a cafe/gift shop on site.

    • @misterdroneuk
      @misterdroneuk  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @sionkelly2083 they may believe that “no drone” signs may deter people from flying as they prefer them not to. That’s a lot different to it being “prohibited” as you said. I can’t comment on the camping as I’m not in to camping and so I’m not familiar with the laws. I familiar with the drone laws though. Please also note that I did this particular video several years ago and I definitely did not see any drone signs at that time. That’s not saying I would have paid attention to them if they were there as I’d just check the actual CAA Flight rules.
