I can't wait to see how this vid plays out. Will he make attacking moves? Defending moves? Or attacking and defending at the same time.
I for one try to make passive and weakening moves at the same time.
It's even better. He did attacking, defending AND losing moves at the same time.

I started reading How to Reassess Your Chess. First rapid game today I got a +4 position and then lost because I had no idea how to capitalize on my amazing position. This title speaks to my heart.

"Accusing opponents of cheating" is chat's default mode
it's a natural response when you see someone making attacking and defensive moves at the same time

Rapid chess is so bad tho. Only play blitz and classic in tournaments
@@AlunoECS For intermediates, I think that rapid is best, because blitz is too fast to learn and grow as a player, and classical is a bit long for most people's schedules. But for tournaments, I do think that classical is probably the best.

@@alexkarns9295 when classical starts please play it and in online longer time controls are impractical I have to say that I'm guilty that I don't play 15 10 even when I had time to do so and blitz is ok for 1500 just play 10 games and bullet for fun I am 1800 and I do all of these

Ive gone up 600 elo... granted my low point was 144. Nl got me into a crazy good hobby though
The accuracy was so low because e4 was the right move for like 20 moves

NL pushing his A pawn instead of taking to open up the file and then later considering the Bishop Sacc to open the structure is the embodiment of his playstyle.
Yeah I understand the urge to sacrifice but not when a clearly superior move is available
3:09 there was a simple tactic Qd4 forking rook and knight you could have won this one without playing positionally but as we say if something happens that's for good, just like that if you had played Qd4 it would have ended pretty soon and we maybe wouldn't have gotten this chance of seeing your amazing convertion

I've even started playing along with these on my physical board, super fun and informative to follow and finish games (that end in resignation).
I mean, I wouldn't say baby with bathwater, it's more like a tsunami that happens to be carrying a baby past you. Chat is 99.999% a no go.
please show the lines when you have missed wins, that would be extremly instructive especially in the first super closed game to see how the position could have been broken

Hey! I am not much better (700 elo) but if you need some tips getting out of 500... im your man!
TLDR of first game: Time management; PAWN BREAKS. No pawn breaks meant you had to sac valuable pieces instead of pawns to break into the enemy lines. Making that unbreakable line was a massive blunder when you had no time and the enemy had a way in when you screwed up eventually.
Someone needs to (re)watch Levy's time management video.
NL roasting chat over move suggestions, while not spotting the knight move that will cost him his queen, is why I love these videos.

The flicker could be cause by freesync/gsync if you have that enabled

The lesson from the second game is that the Queen is better on e7 especially if you plan to castle long, to avoid the pin. Also, you can just move the king to b8 and avoid the pin.
Turning positional advantages into material losses could not be a more accurate title for the first game
At 20:50, after white queen goes f3, why isn't taking the bishop on b5 with black queen the best move? I can see it allows white to develop their other knight with a tempo but I don't see how they could turn that into a bishop's worth of advantage. Am I missing something obvious?

36:46 what happens if knight takes bishop? if you potentially convince the king to take the knight you put pawn onto a6 and force the queen to back up or he doesnt take knight and you can either adjust your rook or pawn structure accordingly
Don't have the time to watch this video yet, but gonna drop a comment and a like for the algo. Pogged out of my gourd for this thursday. Been playing League for too long, and watching you play is like a collision of worlds I've never anticipated.
NL you glance over the opening part of your analysis very often even though you play sub-par moves. If you want to improve your opening game, you should make an effort to see what the best move in the opening was and remember it.
letting the queen take the rook in the discovered attack by pushing that pawn might’ve been advantageous as that queen can get trapped easily
Did some backseat gaming. Wrote down the moves that I thought would be good & checked it with his eventual analysis. I had a better move on 2 points, equal on 1 (but we were both making the same terrible move) and worse on 7.

Look for the pawn breaks after you come out of the opening. Shred open the center.

At 33:58, ok, the chat makes bad moves, but NL still takes way too long to make better ones. As in the last video, I really think he would benefit from just slightly longer time controls and I don't think upping the time to 15 minutes all of a sudden makes the game ultra competitive like he seems to fear

Last night I played a kings indian as black and by the middle game I was up a piece and a pawn. Then failed to convert, blundered everything. It hurt so much I called my opp a cheat then resigned.

I played a game not too long ago where completely dominated my opponent positionally. My position was like +5 with equal material. And then I hung my queen and flagged him.
If I excluded all my losses where I hang my queen, my win rate is incredible
