Moa always looks like a bundle of joy. One reason is her facial expressions. She makes eye contact with every member of the crowd. At least she does on smaller stages, when the crowd is not to far away. When she's in a close-up shot, she sometimes pulls a face. Seems to me like she's playing with the camera while dancing.

Nice one. I can't remember which interview or who said it (it may have been Mikiko, quite possibly somebody else) saying about how Moa always had the perfect facial expressions when she was performing and dancing.
I know nothing about dance, but right from the start when I first saw BABYMETAL performing my eye was always drawn to her.

      Yes, it was MIKIKO.
      (Hedoban #1)
Mikiko: Yui had been a very good dancer since childhood. Her dance is rich in expressions.
Moa is a quintessential idol… an actress who knows how to show the best of herself and the beauty of her facial expressions.
These two girls are about the same heights, but their approaches of how to go about showing the best of themselves are different.
They look like twins, but their personalities are different. That’s nice, I thought!

    ⚡ 💕 / 💃
This is BABYMETAL's tribute to Japanese Dance music of the '90s.
The "Whoa!" in the background is a famous sample used in many '90s dance hits.
Everything from the guest solo guitarist Tak Matsumoto on the studio version of the song, to Moa's lyrics in her rap section are direct references to dance songs of that era.
In Moa's case, she's literally singing a list of song titles from the era.
Matsumoto is best known for the group B'z. They're the best selling artists ever in Japan, and one of the best selling worldwide.
It was quite a score getting him for the 'Metal Galaxy' album, but as Su has mentioned, they were able to get all of their first choices as guest artists.
Matsumoto was very influential in Japanese Dance music from the '90s, so he's a perfect choice for this track.
It's easy to miss, but did you notice that the compilation footage had both Momoko Okazaki and Riho Sayashi as supporting dancers?

Nice reaction. It seemed to me that before Moa was content to let Yui lead the dancing while she tried to follow. Moa said after Yui left she focused more on her dancing. And it really does show. Now that she had to lead the avengers. she had to be a strong lead for them as they were all good dancers themselves. Especially Riho at the time. Since then, Moa has really come into her own. as Su has said she thinks of Moa as an equal now and not the little sister. Culturally speaking as I understand it. This change in thought is a big deal. as usually the elder sister always thinks of the younger ones as little sister who need to be taken care of. However, in this case Su said she came to realize how much she relies on Moa. Smile all you want Moa. You are the Super Moa Chan you wanted to be. Now it's time to Da Da Dance.

🤘🦊🤘 Between Moa and Yui, Moa was the one to 'mess up' most often, but it's always seemed to me that it's because she's just so feeling the music. She's caught up in the moment. Her expressions have always been so...metal. Like, you can see chaos in her eyes. There's always been so much attitude in her expressions, and I fucking love it. XD It's why she's my favorite. And now she's gained enough experience that she can be metal and still land her choreo. She seems so comfortable on stage and I'm so proud of her.

Su-metal's stage presence may be more powerful, but the way Moametal uses her facial expressions makes her one of the most charming performers I've ever seen. Her expressions aren't just reflecting her having fun by herself, it's like she's sharing the experience with the audience. Audience interaction and engagement is one of Babymetal's strengths and she's always doing it on some level.

When Moa does her rap section her second line ends with "EZ DO DANCE", a 1993 Japanese dance hit from TRF - th-cam.com/video/LKEWlU4rkxc/w-d-xo.html - Moa goes on to name-check three other TRF hits from that era. The music style is absolutely throwback, to what the Japanese would term "Juliana Techno" for _Juliana's_ a famous Tokyo dance club of the 90s.

Something that I enjoy when they dance are their facial expressions. Some singers who aren't dancers have one facial expression, some just smile and that just it, and it sometimes threw me off, or it felt like it's lacking even though they danced well. But for BM, I just recently noticed that I've never really felt like there's something missing when they dance, I just enjoyed it.
Awesome reaction. Glad to see anubis around🥰.

While Shanti will always be my favourite, I can't express how much I adore this song. It's full of joy, catchy, gives the crowd so much energy, and the poses they strike to the "WOO!" always make me smile! :)

Great reaction and analysis! DDD is one that does not get reacted to often, which is a shame as it really is a good song.

Hi Xiaouiris, I just watch BabyMetal's new release {Mirror Mirror Official Lyric Video) and it was insane, much harder core than I was expecting. I can't wait until the live video version comes out so you can see what or how they will even dance to it. The current release is very heavy with an Anime style video during parts of it, 10/10 imo. Another song released was (Metalizm), which is only the soundtrack at this time, but I think you will enjoy reacting to it when the live video drops. Kind of a shanti feel to it in certain places. Can't wait to see the dance style myself when it drops. The new BabyMetal album was released yesterday and most of the harder core material was not even known about until it dropped yesterday lol. Take care

Xi tends to avoid the videos that are being saturated with reactions and looks to react to the dance choreography more than the songs themselves (although the song is important). She only reacted to Light and Darkness right away because of **cough** Patreon request. 😉😁😉
