Corazon's smile is the Jolly Roger for Law's crew the Heart Pirates. It's also similar to the Don Quixote Pirates. Law put them both together to symbolize the formative years of his life.

"No go back! I just want more backstory!" Only when it's about One Piece we collectively agree on wanting more backstory. You don't really hear this sentence when watching other anime.

A sweet and sad detail that came out of Law's backstory is that he named his crew after Corazon. 💔

Another one, him saving the kids in Punk Hazard was like him curing himself from poison as a kid, and this is my personal opinion, I believe the reason he decided to actually help them was cause he wanted to give them a chance, just like Corazon did to him, being their Cora-san

If he gets faster for the intros in proportion to how hyped he is for the upcoming episodes, just imagine what will happen during shit like Luffy's fight with Charles Barkley or the Chadurai flashback or Roof Piece or whatever's happening in the manga right now. He'll go full ultrasound.

The "funny" thing is, we already KNOW how the story is going to end. Law told us episodes ago.
Yet, you can't help but to hope Corazon will make it out somehow.
Interesting fact not many people note
Back in Punk Hazard, law saved the kids from their acute poisoning with the power of the Ope Ope no Mi, it was also noted by Chopper that he himself doubted if he could have saved them due to how advanced and how much time had passed for them being consuming the poison, unknown to us that was a hint to Laws backstory, after all he himself as a kid, had rid his body of an even deadlier poison with that power
It is not confirmed why Law saved them, but I like to believe that he in a sense wanted to be those kids Cora-san, giving them a chanse at life from their hopeless situation
Also now you know why Law helped Luffy so long ago, he bet on the D. as one himself
Knowing Law's past makes Vergo's defeat and death so much more satisfying! Law backstory is probably the saddest in One Piece!
I think Brook has the saddest backstory but Law definitely has the best backstory, its the backstory that I enjoyed watching the most.

Technically, both Buggy and Alvida could escape a Birdcage as well - Buggy can go to pieces and reassemble himself on the other side (and that was confirmed by Oda in the question corner) and Alvida could most likely just slip through.
Isn't Buggy's power a hard counter to Mihawk, Doflamingo AND Law's powers?

@@alex-rs6ts Yes, unless Mihawk/Doflamingo going with haki. In the end we don't know what happens, when Buggy will be cut by a haki user. About Law he have hacks abillitys and his power is probadly good again Buggy.

For those that don’t know
Corazon means Heart in Spanish and Law’s crew is called the Heart Pirates after Corazon
One thing that would really make it perfect was if law had his jollyroger be missing a tooth also
So it would be a direct homage to the last thing he saw of corazon him smiling
Law's backstory really hits you in the feels 😭😭
They had heavily hinted what the "D" stands for in different episodes, but piece by piece and very subtle.

Just imagine if a great swordsman like Zorro, Shiryu, and Mihawk have Corazon's devil fruit powers they can fight without being noticed and heard by their enemies. not to mention it is very helpful in secret missions or assassination missions.
You're not wrong about anything you've said but I feel like Zoro would never want to fight like that/with a DF power in a million years.

Nah this DF against a strong observation Haki user is kinda useless I feel like. But imagine you can train yourself, so that you can even hide your presence, not just the noises. That would de interesting. It‘s also possible somebody in the present actually has this DF.

That’s part of it. The lines jutting out of the smile look like the receptors of a virus, which is a callback to Law being a doctor.

I don't put all the blame in the doctors for not wanting to treat Law, it was the government that said the disease was contagious

But most of time we get little to no informations about it. And when we do get some, we have no idea on what it mean.

This was a really sad but also really good video, I always look forward to your One Piece reactions.
So now that Corazon speaks, we're getting to the brutal and tear-filled meat of Law's flashback.
Corazon has a secret Devil Fruit he has kept hidden from his brother, the Nagi Nagi no Mi/Calm Calm Fruit, with it he can make an area completely silent, the fashion not too unlike how Law creates a ROOM with his DF. On the outside it seems like a gag fruit, but Corazon can use it to brutal effect with stealth tactics.
Since Law didn't rat him out, Corazon decided to try and help Law, feeling that being cured would stop his death wish and pursue things away from Doffy. However, hysteria about White Lead Disease means that no doctor will even touch him, much to Corazon's fury. On top of this, Corazon is actually a Navy Spy! Working with Sengoku to keep tabs on his brother.
After overhearing a drunken Corazon pour his heart out though, Law decides to be less hostile towards him and the two establish a bond, but Doffy tries to use that to his advantage. Revealing to have found the Op Op Fruit, he suggest Corazon eat it to 'cure Law's disease' - even though we know Doffy's true intentions are the Perennial Youth Surgery, meaning Doffy was willing to kill his brother for immortality. Since Corazon has a DF though, he can't eat a second one, and goes to steal it before Doffy does so he can feed it to Law.
Having now betrayed his family and the navy for Law, Corazon is right in the crossfire having stolen the fruit from ex-Navy officer Diez Barrels, severely wounded he gets it to Law and entrusts him with all his intel on Doffy to send to any Navy officer nearby. However, Law finds the one Navy officer he didn't want Law to find: Vergo. While Vergo is kicking the shit out of Law and Corazon, Doffy soon arrives to activate the Birdcage.
Next time the Waterworks will come though, whether you like it or not
Corazan is my favorite side character. And to answer your question? He saw doffy. He wanted to save Law so he wouldn't be another Doflemingo ...and I love him for it 😢

On to the actual eps you reacted rn: Corazon is one of many people's favorite backstory characters. He's actually in my top 10. I hope you got to love him for what he brought to Law and Doffy's character arcs and the lore of the series

Law doesn't know how to use his fruit yet. I mean it makes sense. Corazon just shoved it down his throat. Law wasn't even ready for it. There's a steep learning curve to it.

Law's backstory somehow has twice the amount of trauma than anyone else's...
Because we get 2 traumatic event in his backstory: 1 Law losing everyone because of the white lead disease, 2 Law finding someone that cares about him but ends up losing him because of Doflamingo.

Well, Corazon not only save his (Law) life. Most important is Corazon save Law from becoming heartless. By meeting Corazon, he is becoming a"person" again.

Law has to have so much regret surrounding Cora-san's death. He brought Vergo to him, he could have saved Cora if he had more knowledge as a doctor with his devil fruit, he was the reason that Cora even went to get the devil fruit, and then Cora using his abilities to hide Law from Mingo at the end of his life... Then add that onto his pre-existing trauma from losing his whole town. This backstory really helped to flesh out Law as an individual, and his overall attitude towards the world. It makes me cry every time I re-watch it. Cora-san will forever be one of my favorite OP characters.

Yup, I agree. As much as I like the hype moments of One Piece, and that the road is paved for Luffy to always beat the big bad, I kinda wish the people who needed their closure be the one who gets the bad guy instead.
Sometimes I do get it bec most of the people they help are damsels/princesses in distress, if not, they aren't powerful people. Robin DOES get her bad guy (but Spanda is weak af, so it's like Oda allowed that as a giveaway), so I do like that. But the rest? Luffy saves the day FOR them. I kinda wish Law got to give the last punch, because he's not a damsel in distress, he's very powerful on his own right, and he needs the closure the most (storytelling-wise). He did get closure bec he saw Doffy defeated, but it's not the same. Hell, Op-Op Fruit is broken if used creatively (ex. yeet all devil fruit opponents into the sea, but nope, that's too easy for storytelling purposes). But since Luffy is our protag, he always gets the last and biggest bite.
I really think law already did the surgery on Luffy to make him immortal back at Marine Ford and there is a catch only the devil fruit user knows
