My Mum bought me a large towel as a gift once, after drying myself with it I noticed that it left tons of loose lint on my skin, in my hair and all over the bath. I thought it might be a bad idea to mix it with the rest of my clothes in the washing machine, instead I decided to wash it in my bathtub, sadly it was cheaply dyed and had left a dark stain around the inside of the tub. So I put on some rubber gloves and thought bleach might get it off, gave it a rub in with a sponge... Didn't work :/ Went into my sink cupboard and grabbed out a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner to see if that'd do the trick. Felt the sponge immediately heat up in my hand and thought "F**k! It's a chemical reaction", ended up inhaling some chlorine gas, not a very pleasant experience I must say xD I read the back label of the the toilet bowl cleaner and it had hydrochloric acid in it. Great gift Mum! :D
That's actually how amateur chemists synthesize hydrazine: they react bleach and ammonia/urea in the presence of methyl ethyl ketone which absorbs the hydrazine making a separate layer of butanone azine which can be easily converted to hydrazine

As a kid, I was always getting into the household chemicals playing "chemical engineer." I didn't mix bleach and ammonia. Mixing bleach and hydrogen peroxide was a more vigorous and fascinating reaction to watch. I mixed all sorts of things. Then I started adding voltage and metals. I stunk up the house a few times. haha

Instead of actually doing this stupidly at home, you can safely watch what happens. TH-cam videos like these probably saves lives. I was wondering because I have a gallon of vinegar here and some bleach in my toilet and I was wondering what the fuss was all about. That gas is nasty, it would not leave the bathroom on its own because of the mass that's crazy dangerous. At least it's somewhat yellowish so you can detect potent amounts of it.

It's funny, the last video I watched on making chlorine gas was of a father who had his child with him outside, he poured the mixtures together and his way of checking if the chemical reaction was working was by sniffing the bottle of mixture over and over. I always use conc. H2SO4 and NaCl. It produces no water, which can be beneficial. (You still should dry it before use)
I mean, you do have to have access to concentrated sulphuric acid.
