13:47 the "some reason" why Marches always seem to take Defensive is that they are coded to. Being a March gives a 1.25x modifier to the factors for the AI's idea group choice. NB I'd love to see you look around the map a bit in these saves to see what the AI got up to, that Aragonese Burgundy in the Prussia save got me curious.
especially since devving gold barely matters at all in the late game, in the Prussia campaign Tyrol would be among the last provinces that you would take in order to conquer all of Germany. Barely makes sense to dev it up at that point tbh
Yeah. You only need good for early game. When I was new I would dev the fk out of them. Now I just focus on monopolizing my trade node. I do dev gold but I don't run it up to 10 ten immediately. I prefer using the dev on trade goods so I can get early trading in bonuses@@grabbers6520
Love this series. In fact, I really feel comfortable casually watching your videos every other day. You have my support. I love eu4, and you help bring it and its community to life. Job well done.
Depends. As you saw, he has govcap to spare, but he was considering a more blobby campaign. I'd generally agree with you though: going from 50 to 70% govcap is a huge increase. And it's an idea group that kinda pays for itself if you take it early enough.
holy shit he actually looked at my save file, that based. I had alot of rebel problems early on so I deleted forts so I didnt have to constantly retake from rebels. The main reason for the admin + diplo is because i was thinking i wanted to blob out but then decided not to. Also the alliance with the US was because it was funny that they existed and im amercian so had to do it.
Congrats man! Interesting vision to not use forts due to rebels. I get the logic, but forts can help slow down the rebels, give you the defender's advantage when killing them, and prevent maluses when they take a province. Still fine to dismantle them and put those ducats to work :)
Bruh, the italian game was 36 combat width with 36 inf / 8 calv / 36 cannon... And you tell the man to build more cannons, when the Calvary are already pushing infantry out to be below the infantry to cannon ratio.
Prussia in the first save was probably formed fro teutonic order. Mission tree gives livonian order as a vassal for free. The also have a dynasty on the throne that sounds like an rng pick (from earlier when they were still theocracy)
There's so many save games, you can only do some. Maybe get someone to cherry pick the most interesting ones for you (and the fans) to see. Could even have a community poll to pick which ones to review. I don't know if grouping campaigns of the same nation together would work and comparing them maybe?
I think the browing option is better, makes for more interesting campaigns a bit quicker. I think especially when a lot of them are similar campaigns due to update giving attention to a couple nations.
You should start watching at total income not only at balance aka what's left the make a decision of the economy. If not much is left the player may spend to much but that is another story.
I don't know man, that abbreviates to Pus. Maybe better to call it the Catholic United States. Roman United States? Holy United States? Sacred United States? Hmmm.... How about The Jerusalemite Empire of the Sacred United States?
As someone whos save is pretty far down the list, I would want to say skim through for interesting ones, but I think the only real fair way to do it is going in order
Gotta get harsher with these save game reviews ratings, everything is a 4 or a 5… “Tall Italy” without infra, Lockean proviso, fully upgraded $$$ buildings, no universities… that’s a 2/5 at best. I don’t think you’ll alienate your audience by being honest man, that’s just how people learn!
2/5 would be rather harsh, it's good borders, a nice set of marches, and a great functioning country. You don't need to minmax everything, we play for fun. Also bear in mind these are not finished campaigns: at that time some buildings just got unlocked. Would've liked to see whether he upgraded infrastructure in most provinces.
@@sorsocksfake, it’s clearly in the bottom 50% of playthroughs that have been featured in this series… I just think a fair rating system should aim to have 20% 1/5s, 20% 2/5s, etc… not 50% 4/5s and 50% 5/5s!
@@Mordacitas7 To each their own, but people will usually send in things they're kinda proud of. They'll usually be 3/5 or better, and that's fine. 3/5 can still get p[lenty of useful feedback.
Oh come on don't be jerks about it :). I'd guess it will come Luka. Just that the path's nations are played a lot, and it's nice to have a bit of variety inbetween? Hopefully next episode!
Literally "One nation under God" with that Papal game.
Why isn't this an achievement? It would be so cool to achieve religious wc as the pope.
real 🗿
Sir we may have an issue
The papal state guy built the Wall at mexican border 💀 28:08
And it's merely a coincidence that he lives in Myami, right :)
Pope literally pulled a Roman Third Odyssey/Norwegian Let it Go move
I'm seeing a lot of players doing knockoff Third Odyssies and I love it every time
That's one way to make the Bible Belt I guess.
The Rosary Belt.

Hawk removing points from 1k ducat income nations for not having their gold mines devved up is really, really specific nitpicking.
I don't think he nitpicks enough. Every campaign I'd like a 4, 4.5 or 5. I don't even remember him throwing a 3 out there.

28:09 Bro really build a wall in border with Mexico
Can't help but notice how Prussia's generals have mastered the Shadow Clone technique.
Eu4 is the only game where you can become the emperor of china as a aboriginal tribe i think thats just the coolest part of it

And tbh most Americans if it's Pope Francis the Atheists will be deeply conflicted
Good to see some different flavor in the Save Game Review! Love this series
Incredible missed opportunity to have the pope rule from Rome, Georgia
Just wait until the Country-Western schism, when Jameson Audrey Lamar becomes Anti-Pope in Rome, Texas.
My vote is for the browsing option (just because I posted mine late...)

This was fun. I'd like more like this where you pick interesting/unusual runs :)
People forget how powerful government reforms + kingdom of god ideas combined are militarily...
I'd really like to see more save game reviews where you pick and choose which ones to review!

That first Prussian campaign looks like he's playing Kaiserriech 300 years early
Yeah I was going for historical germany borders then making vassals out of the rest

One of my favorite EU4 series!
The Papal State: economic hegemon
The Red Hawk: gold mine not deved to 10
Love that he did the mexican wall too lol
I would like more variation and not just same countries over again. Take some random here and there :)

Hey guys, how do you change the interface (map, nation names, colours, etc.) to look like this? Is this a mod or just a newer patch than mine?
If u don't go for high absolutism having high crown land is not needed. Its better to just sell it for money or use the manpower privilege
Imagine that world. You really had to take the pope seriously
Vatican 2: Escape 2 America
Escape from Rome would work better lol
Bro reviewed one Georgia run and said "We've seen a lot of Georgias"
Can you flip through map modes such as the dev one + gov reforms
