How to setup the Nested Family (Child)
1. Use the generic model template and model the geometry to be rotated
2. Change this generic family to work plane based
3. Uncheck the property “Always Vertical”
4. Change all Parameters to Instance (Later will be mapped to the host/parent family)
5. Save this family (this will be the child)
The host Family (Parent)
1. Start a new Generic Model
2. Place a reference LINE and Lock its end to the Vertical and Horizontal reference planes
3. Place an angular dimension and associate it with a parameter
4. Load/insert the Previous family which is now a work plane based
5. Select to place it on work plane (not face)
6. Pick the horizontal plane of the reference line (it will highlight when you hover mouse over and TAB)
7. Place the Family (Note: not directly on the line or the reference planes - will align in next step)
8. Hide the ref planes for better precision
9. Align the center planes of the family to the END POINT of the Reference LINE (DO NOT LOCK)
10. Unhide reference plane
11. Change the angle and test rotation
12. Last, select the nested family and associate its parameters to the Host
