Very nice save for the air cleaner, no front fender, and gas tank decal, for classic looks and performance nothing beats the old classic oval air cleaner, the old Sportster tank decals or the gold bar & shield decals, and for a street bike a front fender is mandatory!
WOW WOW WOW this is absolutely the nicest iron head ive ever seen , love everything , the first thing that catches my eye is that bolt on rear section, wish i could do that to my 90s model xl , i dont want to chop my frame ive owned my sporty since new , but one day im going to find a good 70s model and i might steel your vision if you dont mind 👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's all '72 parts. The rocker housings were filled and radiused. The primary cover was milled and the center filled and smoothed. Cam cover was cut and modified. That's the point of being custom. Every piece of that bike was touched. I can see where it would be confusing.
Incredible! Start button in the grip. That is badass! That bike is sweet. The only thing I'd change is the saddle. That one is too plain and a little too wide. But that bike has all kinds of Wow factor going on.
you didn’t see the lights, mirror, and license plate on it? it’s fully street legal. turn signals required in California on 1973 and later but I wouldn’t put them on this bike longer than it took to get the ticket signed off if it needed them.
And worth every penny! I like the Krust older bobber look too but this bike is epic. I'm doing a search for 709 customs right now. I want to buy a bobber so bad.
Very clean work. Love those KR style pipes, doing a 68 right now, have been looking for those pipes everywhere since I saw this vid but no luck. Would you share where you got them by any chance?
We used a remote reservoir master off a Ducati I believe. It’s probably the same as all of the honda yamaha suzuki ones. You can see the white reservoir with the hose under the oil tank. Used the stock pedal and cross shaft and mounted the master vertically on the right side of the frame tomahawks.
I am a Sportster fanatic, and have owned dozens of K's, Ironheads and Evos. I do very similar builds to yours, stripped down, lightweight, flattrack inspired Sportsters. Is there a way to purchase one of your oil tanks and/or one of your rear frame sections? Thanks in advance. T in K.C.
I'm not really into the "bobber" look, but that's a nice bike. I really live old Ironheads. Wish I could get my hands on one. I see a cross between a Chopper and a Pro-Street bike, i.e. if you could combine those two styles somehow.
It would depend on your fabrication skills. We used the stock pedal and linkage and mounted a remote reservoir master cylinder to the frame under the oil tank. Spool hub wheel with matching rotor and fabricated axle and spacers and caliper bracket among other parts.
709cycles thanks for the response. I'm a welder fabricator by trade so I'm fairly sure I can do it I'm just trying to figure the best way. was thinking of a sprotor set up to keep it compact. what size front and rear are you running? thanks again. BTW the bike is sweet. I'll be posting the whole build starting in the next couple weeks. just waiting on a few more parts
Hmnn. Last year of right side shift was '74 I believe .Your motor # ends with H8 ? I guess you wouldn't be the first guy to have a bunch of mixed up parts in a sporty basket case. I can't imagine why it would have good factory '78 numbers and be a right side shift. Let me think about that. And for Terry in KC. Sorry, but I'm just not setup to build the oil tanks and frame sections to sell. Just a really small operation here. Maybe in the future though.
Talked to my co worker and he said there is a plug on the right crankcase you can remove and use the earlier shift pawl shaft. Maybe someone was racing it?
I have to say, It's probably the nicest one we've done.
Nothing like the old school Sportsters. Excellent job on this one.
I really like the style of this build, like a speedway bike for the street.
Nice machine !!! I love the start button and the flat track style. Nicest XL ever !!!
Sportster are my favorite Harley-Davidsons
Mine too.
Also liked the Dyna range ... but sadly, HD discontinued it a couple of years ago.
That bike is absolutely perfect.
This video just popped up in my feed. Nice bike!!!
Moto splendida eccezionale complimenti al maestro che le prepara.... ( queste sono le vere harley Davidson no quelle di oggi)
Very nice save for the air cleaner, no front fender, and gas tank decal, for classic looks and performance nothing beats the old classic oval air cleaner, the old Sportster tank decals or the gold bar & shield decals, and for a street bike a front fender is mandatory!

Very nice build. Especially like the rear frame section.

That was your BANG for your Buck, On this Dream Harley
Nice tavern to tavern scoot! P.S. love the 19's
A pretty ride, to be sure. I would like to see it made street legal, though. Kinda like painting a beautiful picture that never gets hung. IMO

splendida! non ho parole
We made the hardtail in our shop. Also , all the other custom parts on it

Why 5 thumbs down? This bike is clean. Sounds like a gunshot in background.
Stunning Harley. Please tell me what something like this would cost? I need to consider my next ride
I wish there was a way to filter or ignore ads.
Love the XLR pipes!!
sick bike bro!!!!!
Never cared much for that type of seat but other than that it's nice.
Awesome bike. can you tell me where you sourced the bolt-on hardtail?
Exceptional! 😎
very very nice! like that frame.
Perfect! I love it!👍😎
White Brothers makes real nice double walled Pipes ...
Tasteful and classy. Real nice job.
Very, very nice! Well done!!
this is so professional build needs to b a show bike very good job. ohio
That's too beautiful of a bike to have a starter switch. The only thing that makes this Harley look weak.
We had about 10K in this bike at the time.
And worth every penny! I like the Krust older bobber look too but this bike is epic. I'm doing a search for 709 customs right now. I want to buy a bobber so bad.
Gawd...wish it were mine.
very nice, clean look!
Beautiful!
Man, she's a beaut.
Very clean work. Love those KR style pipes, doing a 68 right now, have been looking for those pipes everywhere since I saw this vid but no luck. Would you share where you got them by any chance?
My dream bike
What a beauty 👍
Nice bike, thanks.
Nice bike I'm working on a sporty myself with rear disk brake how did you do the master cylinder?
We used a remote reservoir master off a Ducati I believe. It’s probably the same as all of the honda yamaha suzuki ones. You can see the white reservoir with the hose under the oil tank. Used the stock pedal and cross shaft and mounted the master vertically on the right side of the frame tomahawks.
@@709cycles thanks appreciate the response 🍻 cheers
Which pistons were used
I freakin love that bike
Shhh don't tell anyone I said this but that's a nice sportster....

What bolts did you use for the hardtail?
I'm in the middle of a build and am thinking of using ARPs.
I really like the oil tank.
I'm not really into the "bobber" look, but that's a nice bike. I really live old Ironheads. Wish I could get my hands on one. I see a cross between a Chopper and a Pro-Street bike, i.e. if you could combine those two styles somehow.
Bad ass ironhead!
Anyone know what oil tank that is? Been trying to find one for my 69 xlch but all the ones I’ve looked at sit way lower on the frame than that.
That's beautiful
I'v got a 73 xlch I'm doing right now. I want to do disk instead of the stock drum. how difficult was it to convert it to disk brake?
It would depend on your fabrication skills. We used the stock pedal and linkage and mounted a remote reservoir master cylinder to the frame under the oil tank.
Spool hub wheel with matching rotor and fabricated axle and spacers and caliper bracket among other parts.
