when the cribs were revealed, I did have a feeling that the babies were tested on and possibly turned into the smaller, smiling critters. seeing how they only crawl around and never walk normally, plus their noises they make, just seems.. baby-like.
I still think we’re playing as Rich from the tapes. His story is oddly disconnected from everything else going on and he’d be high enough to be recognized as an employee but not important enough to be eaten on sight. Like if we were playing as Leith or Stella.
Edit: Guys he’s not Dogday, they would have made it incredibly obvious if he was. “Oh but they sound alike”, so do Poppy and Stella, so no.
Yes yes yes! After I heard that tape from Rich and his co-worker, I started to think that he’s the one that we’re playing. The toys don’t care whether we’re good or bad since they killed everyone during the hour of joy. But, if Mommy Long Legs is Marie Payne, she would remember seeing Rich. That’s how she, Poppy, and other toys would know that Rich previously worked there

"CatNap, the most hostile villain in the chapter." That couldn't be farther from the truth, he's basically just a set piece that moves when needed. Outside of the final fight he literally only 'attacks' you once and it's for a scripted cutscene. Ms. Delight was more hostile then him, the Mini Smiling Critters were more hostile then him.
He is more so narratively, not so much actively. He was perceived as such a threat that others feared him and by extension, the Prototype.
it is the most hostile for the plans of the prototype, not for itself. Proof of this is that he is extremely thin compared to the other antagonists. He does not eat and prefers to control Playcare to ensure that no one approaches the labs where the Prototype is hiding. This is why it is the only one with a dissuasive power (red smoke which causes allutinations).
its so sad Theo got badly injured because he got electrocuted with the GrabPack and then he ends electrocuted as Catnap too... before Prototype kills him... instead of healing him... so triple tragedy for the poor boy

really no debate to be had cuz it's exactly the case. cult horror is part of theme, and tthe hand coming out of a halo of light, extending it's reach was a religious "hand of God" reference. he clearly thought he was going to be saved. you're exactly right @@folmhaigh039

I don’t believe the protagonist is a scientist. All everyone who sees the protag say that he worked there so they were probably a worker. I think he was either Rich the retiree.
Because even Kissy would’ve attacked and killed them.
To add, if they were, they wouldn’t need all this explained to them. Poppy said they did nothing wrong so clearly they didn’t really have anything to do with what happened. They might’ve been known around, but not as a scientist. I’m with the Rich theory too since he’s a prominent character who would be known due to his tapes, but he wouldn’t really know what was happening because he wasn’t involved in the secret turn kids into toys scheme
In chapter 2 there are five slides but one name is missing however and matpat said that we could play as him
Well in the beginning of the game... it says "Find out what happened"... That confirms that we weren't a scientist or we wouda known what happened
Then why was the protagonist feeling guilty if they didn't do anything wrong? Like what was the point of the huggy wuggy hallucination dream sequence telling the protagonist that they are guilty? Also why did Mommy in chapter two tell us that we deserve to suffer for what we did?
@@isla6799 survivor's guilt. If they were really Rich the retiree, they were still around. They probably just felt horrible for the poor kids, but it doesn't change the fact that these were hallucinations (as far as ik, haven't seen the entire thing yet).
It was confirmed through some tape in chapter one and two I think. So basically they tried conducting experiments in the past but Ludwig warned that it was not a good idea but after he died the team didn’t give a sh*t about his words and carried on with the project anyway which was the prototype they then made even more toys in the chapter 2 game room you can find more tapes using the children in chapter two through the tape you can tell that the mini games that they are good at determine the creature they are turned into through tapes
Looking at catnap in the ending, I personally think that he was letting the prototype kill him because he failed
But that doesn't make much sense, I mean he had the protagonist within their grasp, why would the bigger antagonist suddenly want them to go further rather than be stopped if it means putting an end to whatever plans they have, something's being overlooked here and I'm suspecting that the Prototype's being painted as the bad guy by Poppy since Poppy is always absent whenever the Prototype turns up.
I don’t think it was because he failed more he thought that his time had come to be assimilated like the other antagonists but since he was willing and a follower (plus he supposedly cares about Theo before being transformed) The prototype made it quick and painless and CatNap welcomed his fate with open arms, literally

Prototype - Elijah Delaney, Nola Klop, Eric True, Avalon Delaney, Baldwin Williams Jr., Micah Preciado, and Joaquin Auguste.
Note that these are voice actors from the other voices we hear throughout the game. EX: Baldwin Williams Jr. Is dog day, Harley Sawyer, and the radio voice. And Nola Klop voicing Poppt and Stella.
What if the prototype is made of 7 individuals considering how if u use a certain type of addition u get from 1006 it will be 1+0+0+6 which = 7

I noticed something interesting. During the cartoon in the beginning at the end of it dogday is on the couch, laying upright with his lower half being covered and the others laying on the floor. Maybe it was a foreshadow that dogday was the only left alive altho with his upper half remained. Not sure if it was intentional or not but interesting nonetheless.
That could be true because when we met with dogday his lower half was cut off

I noticed alot of foreshadowing happens in the franchise. Spotted how the shrine that catnap was praising foreshadowed how he would die. getting impaled through its mouth.
Part of me wonders if the orphans that were put in mascots had the ability to age while in their new bodies. When we meet Dogday he has the voice of an adult, so unless he was formerly another staff member that volunteered for the experiments, it's possible Dogday, Catnap, and the other Smiling Friends mascots before they died were former orphans that grew up in the factory in their mascot bodies.
It would also help explain the character designs of Catnap and Dogday having elongated body types (though it's possible that some of the mascots, like the other smaller Smiling Friends plushes in the Playhouse, are still children during the events of the game).
How did Dog Day survive, I wonder
I figured they wouldn't age any longer, being that they were now supposedly immortal.

The toys have voice boxes so I don’t think his voice matured that was simply the voice of his character although poppy said they ate the bodies from the hour of joy to survive so who knows
this hole keeps getting deeper with each chapter. And now, hopefully, it will soon end.
The red gas brings nightmares to anyone who inhales it, and what is clear is that every time the player inhales it, huggy appears.
Catnap: if I have a nickel every time I get electrocuted by grab pack while helping the prototype I will have two nickels I know it isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice

I didn’t realize that they also had babies in the facility, and to possibly experiment on them is full evil. Maybe they made the babies into the smaller smiling critters as they crawl instead of walk?

I'm still on the theory that Hollie is a toy kid that refused to use the name they gave him and wants to be named his original name and survived this long by hiding from the bigger toys
So something I wanna point out is that the Prototypes hand looks almost identical to The Other Mother aka the Beldam’s hand from Coraline and it makes me think of this on going theme of hunger in this chapter. Both manipulate children to trust them only to then kill them, we’re not seen how the Beldam is able to kill the children, we only see the after math of what happens to them. Here we see what happened especially with Catnap. And uh.. I’m kinda wondering… what happens when the toys run out of “food” (I say food in quotations cause Y’know corpses)

Stella cannot be Poppy, she wasn't even aware of the experiments because she herself seems clueless when during the adoption, the parents and herself discovered that Jeremy could be used as a test subject, she even apologises and she doesn't seem ambitious enough to want power. In the second Chapter, Poppy says (That is not shown in the game) that she is the reason of the experiments, this shown that poppy could be either the child or wife of Eliott, while Stella is not related to him and didn't seem aware of what was happening in the factory. Also, I think Catnap offered himself to the prototype, the prototype first shown a helping hand to catnap but he refused to take and instead knelt in front of him, this is where the prototype changed his posture and stab him.
I think the protagonist is a former child worker(now elementary or middle school age) that worked at Playtime Co or one of the children who were brave enough to explore outside the facility. Seeing how Playtime Co. worked, I would not be surprised if a few workers were actually children. The protagonist is not only very familiar with the place(since they are a former worker) but he/she also goes into the place "unprepared." First off, he/she doesn't bring any emergency supplies like a flashlight to ensure that they can see in the dark. Experienced adults would've have done so regardless of them knowing what happened at Poppy Playtime. Second, Miss Delight, a teacher toy recognizes the player and since the only ones who are supposed to be in the school area with the teacher toys are children, the player had to have been a child at Playtime Co. The player is also small enough to fit and move through vents at a speed that isn't possible for adults. Additionally, if he were the head of production, it's very likely he would have been killed by Poppy Playtime as he/she would be responsible for their creation and torture.
Elliott Ludwig, having a kid corpse, found on his residence is the most hilarious coincidence in the world. This guy has been turning kids into toys for decades, and one day, he decides to take a dead kid home, risking getting caught, and also, how was this body found no random person can just call the police and say "hey there is a kids body in a bag on the property of a CEO of a big company." This was 100% a set up 😂
The radio clarifies Elliot was already dead at the time they found the kid’s body.

according to Manlybadasshero, they updated Miss Delight. Originally, she can only move when it's dark but players were complaining that it's too hard. That's why they changed it to she can only move when not looking.

I think the protagonist is richie because they keep bringing him up in every chapter and if Richie wasnt important they wouldn't keep mentioning him and I don't think it's a tape saying that Richie died and Richie had a family and he really cared about the children but remember one of the tapes said they thought richie would be perfect for the job even though he was known for complaining about how he didn't like what was going on with the children he still cared and poppy said we didnt anything wrong we were just an innocent employee so if thats the case we were about to be promoted but for some reason we missed the promotion party/meeting and i think this is because richie conscience got to the better of him and decided not to come to work on the day the hour of joy happened and we only came back because the "gulit" he's feeling is survivor guilt

@Rina_sumpremacy maybe. I just think we might be Sawyer because of all the characters in the game, we know Sawyer was 100% not at the Hour of Joy. During the first hallucination, we're not only told of our guilt but also the radios happen to be talking about a dead child with missing organs and bones, exactly like Sawyer's experiments. We also find a medical room with the sounds of children crying and screaming in the background, and in the 2nd hallucination, our character is shown very close by watching the children. This is odd because Rich himself says they weren't allowed to even talk to the kids.

Dogday sounds almost identical to Richy, Richy wanted to be a better person for his wife and dogday seems to have the same moral🤔
theres a bunch of other characters in the game that also sound similar tho. some of them are for different toys too. plus, richie is an adult, and a mature, older adult on top of that. it really sounds like the only way for these experiments to work is for there to be a young victim, and richie didnt exactly sound young.
In the third part of the play through, I commented that we may be playing as the guy who retired (thinking that Rich probably died). Others have made a good argument that we are Rich. But I am wondering about a third theory. Could we be playing as Stella? I heard someone mention that the breathing in the gas mask sounded as a higher pitch than that of a male person. So we could be a female survivor instead.

Why is no one questioning Ollie? When he refers to the children he never says “we”… so he isn’t from the orphanage?
How the heck did he get down there and with all of the keys? How does he know so much about the behind the scenes machinery and power system? How has he survived if there’s no food?

Is it just me or do y'all think the kid on the phone is the prototype trying to trick the protagonist. You know because the prototype can mimic voices. Also the kid sounds to uncanny like he doesn't really have emotion in his voice

If the Prototype is pretending to be a child, why does he help the protagonist move forward and dodge Catnap, his right arm who monitors everything that happens in the Playcare sector? He even asks her to kill him and that it's a relief that he's eliminated.
In Chapter 2, he only retrieved Mommy's remains as an opportunity and not as a planned act. It is unknown if Mommy was working for him or that the prototype thought the presence of the toys in the upper levels was sufficient.😊

still waiting on the answer of what the real mad scientist goal behind the experiments were, because nothing of what is shown so far is anywhere near a result that even gets a return of investment and you don't commit crimes against humanity for something you aren't insanely committed to

i am still thinking that mommy did not 100% wanted to kill you and actually wanted to gave you a choice to survive or even realy test you, but then you run away and betrayed her what led her to be realy pissed, i also think she did not actually work with the prototype since i remember she sayed something that hints how she herself is propably scared of him

My Poppy Playtime Lore Theory:
Our protagonist is Harley Sawyer or someone important that had something to do with the experiments:
In chapter 2 we go down a slide that brings us to a room. When we turn around we see 4 slides. 3 visible names of the heads of the innovation team and 1 completely purposely covered and ruined with the letters of the name everywhere on the floor. I believe it’s our protagonist’s name. (Still haven’t seen someone try to make a name out of the letters)
In chapter 3 The Hallways with the radio talking about a dead body of a child found outside the premises of the facility in a muffled bag with missing bones, spine and organs is actually what I suspect our protagonists doing before escaping the facility and leaving the bag to be found (because of our guilt) so people could realize what was going on in the facility. Catnap is the only creature with bones and a very visible Spine. He was the kid found in the muffled bag. The place is structured the same as in the infamous horror game ‘Silent Hill PT.’ It’s way to hint to us that this is our protagonist having PTSD going on having guilt trip while hallucinating his actions. The kids pictures are hallucinations of the children our protagonist knew and eventually transformed into toys. The prototype is making us experience the horrors that we created guiding us through the facility with VSH Tapes he purposely placed, using Poppy, and making us undo all our wrong doing making us kill all the toys/horrors we created along the way.
Who and what is the Prototype?:
The Prototype might be an amalgamation of different kids and employees. (Elliot Ludwig too) The same employees they wanted to get rid of. That explains the skeleton with the construction worker’s helmet. Catnap was tasked by the prototype to put Poppy in stasis with the poppy gas to keep her safe during the “Hour of joy” therefore not being able to do anything and listening to all the horrors while under the gas and vividly hallucinating everything. A Horrible Experience as she describes.
We find hung toys in catnap cell, and later on we see him scooping up a small Bunzo Bunny. It was Catnap who hung all the toys around the facility and outside poppy’s room, warning other toys not to get in that room therefore protecting Poppy from the the toys going berserk during the Hour of joy, as the Prototype asked. (He even placed the prototype’s introduction tape outside of her room).
In Chapter 3 we can find some “Baby Cots”. The baby infants that disappeared got transformed into the small smiling critters that later crawl towards the player just like babies because they never got taught to walk.
Poppy’s Angel:
When Dogday refers to us as “Poppy’s Angel” because Poppy calls us like that, I think she is implying we are the Angel of death. In certain horror stories the Angel of death is attributed to serial killers or Surgeons (Doctors) Just like i suspect our protagonist, Harley Sawyer or a cruel surgeon that took part in the experiments.
At the end of chapter 3, Poppy and the prototype, lead us down to the Laboratories or as someone found out going through cut files, a “Prison” (a sign was found in beta version) she needs us down there “to kill the prototype”. We know the prototype was held in a cell, But how would the prototype still be trapped down there if the vault was sealed shut and we see him roam around the whole facility through all the chapters following us? Very suspicious. I think she and the prototype might be planning to bring us to the laboratories and use our body as a vessel (Just like in FNAF when our body gets scooped and occupied by the amalgamation, the prototype is an amalgamation too and he might be scooping the toys as Mommy Longlegs says to “make me part of him” so he can make everyone finally escape in a human body.) that’s why Poppy says: “we need you”.
The Protagonist’s PTSD:
The Screams we hear from pressings the buttons on the cardboard cutouts, might be flashbacks or some form of ptsd from when the protagonist was experimenting (transforming) the kids into the “smiling critters” while they where still conscious. We know that the gas triggered some memories and flashbacks visually and audible too. that explains why the smiling critters are talking directly to the protagonist. I think since the beginning of the game the cardboards don’t actually work and in reality they all Buzz or glitch like some that we find malfunctioning. The ones we are able to hear is because our PTSD triggers and flashbacks of the children our protagonist directly Experimented on. The Buzz or glitching of some cardboards is because our protagonist didn’t experiment on them and therefore it doesn’t trigger ptsd or direct memories that makes our protagonist hallucinate voices because we didn’t have direct connection with those experiments or children. The cardboard talking directly to us was a big clue.
Kissy Missy’s death and the return of Huggy Wuggy:
In Chapter 3 Kissy Missy turned blue for a good moment when she first catches us before being stopped by Poppy in chapter 3. It was a very weird purposely lighting color change.
I strongly believe that this is Mob Games hinting at us that Kissy was going to get killed by Huggy Wuggy. He’s back, he never died. Huggy has always been stalking us since the beginning of chapter 1. He crawls through vents to peek at the player (most people don’t notice this detail while playing) In chapter 2 you can find his “Furr”and blood next to some vents and walls. In the end of chapter 3 You can clearly hear Huggy’s jumpscare/attack scream. Kissy was not designed to be dangerous as Huggy Wuggy. Huggy was designed to be a Security System, meant to kill and have those sharp teeth. I don’t think kissy can even emit a sound or even open her mouth. It’s a bit far stretched but could it be possible that Kissy’s body is going to be used by a badly injured Huggy, to get revenge against us when we least expect it in the next upcoming chapters? (This would explain Kissy Missy’s suspicious color shift)
Who is Ollie?
A mysterious and very suspicious character that sometimes refers as “We” for some reason.
All of us think he’s a surviving kid, but the math doesn’t add up, in the present time, when chapter 3 takes place, he should be 18 years old or more. Then why does he sound like a child? The only explanation is that he is a child in a toy’s body as well. He’s been watching us ever since we turned on the power of the facility in chapter 1. Spying on us through the CCTV cameras we see all around the facility, Opening doors and vents for us. Even back when Huggy Wuggy first chases us through the vent, he was closing doors not to get us killed but to make sure we reached poppy.
In Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 poster shows us the hand of the prototype ‘controlling’ Mommy Long Legs, therefore telling us ‘The Prototype Has Control Over Everything’
"That shrine, did it scare you? If you thought that was terrifying just wait until you see the real thing!" Ollie is admitting that he himself has seen the Prototype. (Because he is part of it)
I strongly believe Ollie is a voice/soul part of the amalgamation of the Prototype.

So Dog Day was a humanoid adult dog that spoke like an adult and thought like one too - but were there other smiling critters like this experiment?
It would be strange to only make one Smiling Critter this advanced (and this is a very advanced experiment).
The ones in the shrine are not adult sized.
We've seen the mini ones skittering & chittering around, but once again no adult sized ones.
If there are adult Smiling Critters lurking around and Dog Day was lying about being the last, then adult sized Smiling Critters could be who's attacking Kissy Missy.

I think Poppy is stringing the main character along (earning their trust by pretending to be upset by the hour of joy) to become the top dog after being locked away in a box for so long and then will eventually dispose of them.
17:57 that's where your wrong catnap knows what's about to happen and willingly offers himself up to the prototype, think of it like in other fictions were you have humans serving vampires in the hope/promise that you will become one of them only in this case it's becoming part of the prototype.
And there is a reasonable mind behind it as it could have killed them and taken there skills at any point but it only takes them after or when they are nearly dead.
Until seeing the comments, I had not noticed that Huggy's scream is heard at the end. I think Huggy Wuggy can still be "alive", but not as himself, but as an appendage of the prototype and that this is what attacked Missy in the end.
One thing that I haven't really seen talked about with the game much is a specific line from the last tape in Chapter One. "I'm not worried about myself. One breakthrough and I'll be back." If that tape was recorded during the Hour of Joy, then why was the scientist so confident, that he, in some form, amid all the dying screams in the background, would be fine? It may be worth noting too that there's a chance the tape could've been recorded during a much earlier incident as well, the way he also talks about future experiments needing better containment and disposal. (We know that at least Huggy broke out once before, and then the Prototype had a chance to escape had he not gone back for Theo, so this has been reoccuring.) In which case, there's a chance he meant he'd be brought back as a toy, as the Bron videos showed they experimented on volunteers as much as children, but unless we've got a William Afton situation here, what were they aiming for to do so willingly?
I bring this up here because it may give us some better insight into why Catnap seemed to offer himself to the Prototype as he did. Maybe, other than being assimilated into the Prototype itself, he also believed like the scientist that he'd be brought back in some way.

Dogday said that "we tried to resist the Prototype". Was there a rebellion within the toys against The Prototype? Was Poppy the leader, which is why she was locked up?
what i think what happened to kissy missy is that since the prototype is worshiped like this god like entity and we saw how his hand disconnects and acts as his veesel. its safe to assume that he disconnected his hand and sent it to reclaim kissy missy or either end her for working with Poppy or this is my guess. Huggy wuggy was sent after kissy missy to dispatch the three since we did see in a somewhat trailer that the entity grabbed a huggy wuggy plushy or it could be him. or the fact that he sent one of the toy's that he manipulated. could be the small plushie animals. could be dogdays. or could be bloxy-boo since we saw how brutal he was
basically trading one prison for another.
I have a feeling we're playing as Stella. Everywhere we've been, we've seen that Stella worked there. It's also been shown that everywhere we are recognized as having worked there before.
Chapter 4 will be 4th and final upcoming game Chapter for Poppy Playtime, ending the Prototype once and for all and for good, ending the evil nightmarish experiments as well

I think that this situation is a lot like the cornels from war for the planet of the apes where his sone had a virus that would kill every one unless he died. So the cornel shot his own son to save everyone else. I think the prototype really cared about catnap but did not approve of what he was doing to other toys so when he finally had a chance he made the hard disision to one end catnaps pain and two save all of the other toys from catnap. Overall I think that the prototype did not want to kill catnap and that it was like the cornel from planet of the apes and his son and that catnap was something like a son to the prototype but he made the hard choice to end catnaps pain and save the other toys from catnap.

i have to disagree on that theory because prototype never attack the main character in chapter 2 and 3 he can easy kill the main character but he didnt even in the end of chapter 3 he can just let catnip kill him then he can get rid of catnip but he didnt so i think poppy is the evil one not the prototype i think poppy she made the hour of joy happen she started it not him and he simple follow her foot steps and she use kissymissy to get to prototype and i think thats why she was in chapter 1 in a box and said in the wall dont open

You're reaching at times. Like the adopted parents knowing what's going on? Obviously not. If you went to adopt a child and were suddenly told you couldn't because of testing, you'd freak out too even if you didn't know what the testing was
I originally thought the game would have 5 chapters but it might be 4
The next teasers and trailers will give us a good idea of what to expect. I hope they make 5. There's enough stuff not answered to make 2 more medium chapters or a huge final chapter
It also seems the devs love money. It's more convenient for them to make 5 chapters, the longer they keep us waiting, the more merch they can sell while we are interested
@@corvo3797 well yes they like money lol but they can always make a sequel. But the main reason I believe the game is almost over is that a good story that involves mystery should be long enough to keep you guessing but not too long to where it seems filler. The mystery is honestly over halfway solved. At some point playtime co turned orphans into toys as free slave labor until the toys rebelled.
The only significant questions that remain revolve around the fact that poppy and the prototype were made before this plan and have some connections to Elliot Ludwig and the player. Basically the questions are HOW and WHY
@hineschris9934 but the only remaining questions are also the biggest questions and also the ones we've had from the start and the ones we want to know. They've done a good job with the mystery. Who is the player? What is the player? Where is Ludwig? Who is poppy? What is the prototype?
Who is the bad guy? Who made the prototype? Why did they make the prototype? Why do the toys hesitate to just eat you? What is the flower? They can really answer all of this in a single final chapter. If they answer this there is no need for another chapter
