    Great to hear this from 60s for someone like me who attempted suicide twice. And slit my left hand-the scar is still there. Even with medical treatment & trying to peace your life together, sometimes the feeling does come back. It won’t affect just you but everyone else around you as well.

    I come from a large close family on both my maternal and paternal sides. I lost a first cousin on my mothers side and 364 days later, I lost a first cousin on my father's side, both to their own hands. One was a hanging, the other a gun. It wrecked my family on both sides. My aunt literally grieved herself to death and she wasn't even the mother of the deceased, she was his aunt also. He was the baby of the older batch of cousins and we all adored him and doted on him. He was so young. Not quite 21. No note, no understanding, no closer. It was devastating to us because of losing him but also because many of us, including us cousins felt so so bad that he didn't know that he could have come to any and all of us and we would have done all we could to help him. We let him and each other down and we still don't know why or how. My paternal cousin, left a note and made preparations such as returning borrowed things and giving things away. His sister and father basically taunted him into it with lies and pure hatred and jealousy of him. My aunt suffered to the point of believing his ghost remained in the house. I wasn't as close to him but it had a profound affect on all of us. Especially considering his young age of 22 and the fact that he had a baby that he left behind. He was not with the mother of his child and so she grew up missing an entire family who would have loved to have known her. It is devastating for my family to lose these people in this manner. It changed everything, every get together, ever holiday. It changed the way we hid Easter eggs on Easter because we could barely manage it without stopping to speak of Daniel and the joy he had in hiding the eggs for the younger bunch of cousins. Mammaw crying every holiday, thinking of the what ifs. It's just something that you never get over as a family. Please dont do that to your loved ones. Someone loves you and needs you, even if it doesn't feel that way in that moment. Please don't make a permanent choice for a temporary problem, because it is a problem. Please reach out. You're not alone.

    25:00 Having made three attempts myself, I can say that the reactions of the two officers and the neighbor are unfortunately not as rare as one might hope. All too often the cry for help is interpreted as a cry for attention. Im sure that there are some people who make attempts simply to get attention, but assuming that's the case for anyone is far too great a gamble. My third and final attempt came from someone close to me assuming I was just trying to get some attention or to get even with them. That last attempt was by far my most earnest and extreme attempt, and had it not been for the understanding of my loved ones (and me finally seeing the repercussions my death would have had on people I loved) it would have been my last attempt for a whole other reason. After that I made the most solemn promise that I've ever made. That being to never allow myself to reach those depths without coming to my loved ones to talk before I did anything irrational like that ever again. It's the only promise I intend to keep no matter what the circumstances. I guess the point of my rant here is to never ever assume you know why a person would attempt to end their lives. Your reckless words or actions could result in what is essentially murder.

      Sometimes its actually your loved ones that drive you to suicide well that was my experience starting from the age of 10 I was so desperate to get away from my so called loved ones I decided at a very young age that suicide was my best choice, I always think now to this day why didnt I get any real help when they must of known the hell I was going through because let's be honest here what young child of the age of 10 would want to take there own life, I still live with the thoughts of suicide on a daily basis but this is not a subject that society likes to discuss with it still being such a taboo subject...

      @@halestorm123 I'm sorry u went through so much at the age of 10 (& probably even younger). Being suicidal as an adult is a heavy weight to carry, so I can't imagine how a 10 year old could cope. I hope ur doing better these days even tho it sounds like ur still struggling. I hate today's society as we're worse off with the mental health care system than we were back then.
    I'm not talking about the lack resource or money,I'm talking about how those who need help are treated.
    Men for instance are looked down for asking for help in an almost patronizing way. The commercials that tell men that it's alright to not bottle up their feelings say it in a way that tells men that even though it's alright to not bottle it up, they're not masculine for telling others about how they really feel about life.
    It's so kafkaesque.

      I recently watched a you tube video of a female cop laughing taunting threatening and once she got the woman out if her barricade deny water and continue to laugh and taunt. If your eyes are open you will realize some people in policing treat the mentally ill very poorly.

    • @RaptorFromWeegee
      @RaptorFromWeegee ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@shimmer8289 What do you expect? With our poorly run mental health system and defunded police this'll surely get worse. Here in NYC, in 2023, even at the best private psych hospitals, care is sub-standard. Its hard to get any qualified peeps to come work at a psych unit.

    • @shimmer8289

      @RaptorFromWeegee agree 💯 if you ever watched teaching videos and documentaries of mental institutions from 1940 to 1975 it was atrocious. It's not much better today except the mentally ill are in housing or unhoused with varying degrees of substandard care. Unless u are quite wealthy.
