There is police brutality everywhere, it just depends what you consider brutality and if you think it's justified. If a criminal is being a douchebag and not co-operating I see no reason why police can't be a tad bit more aggressive or assertive as long as they don't severely harm the criminal like they did 50+ years ago. I prefer the way the US police work. They are neutral, professional and efficient. The Australian police talk a lot, trying to show an advantage and inadvertently escalate the situation. It doesn't work well.
